Read Write Inc Year 3 and 4 Spelling – 2020/21 Friday – Mrs Butler –
1) ‘Speed Spell’ of previous week’s spelling (choose six words from previous week’s pattern- discuss and analyse the words as a class and then do a speed spell test in one book. Self-mark. If they got them wrong, circle the part that they spelt wrong and discuss as a class common mistakes. 2) Introduce new pattern for this week – use video on Read Write Inc to introduce.
Mon-Thurs – Miss Ellis
1) Two/Three 30 minute sessions. Session 1 will include Spelling zone and Dots and Dashes; Session 2 will include Word Changers; Session 3 will include dictation. Work will be taught, discussed and marked with the teacher.
2) Spelling patterns and Red and Orange words will be shared with the parents for them to use at home if they wish.
3) Mon - Thurs – 9.00-9.10- Registration time – Orange words (ie. Year 3 and 4 key words). This also includes revising over the Red words (i.e. Year 1 and 2 words) for specific children – tested regularly.
Exception – During the 1st week of each half term the children will spend time practising their Year 3 and 4 orange key words on Mon to Thurs. On Fri Mrs
Butler will introduce new pattern.
Autumn term – revision of Year 2 objectives
NB Mrs Gardiner has reported that they got to Unit 8 2B before Partial School Closure. In first half term, we will carry on from there and then do a Year 2 test at half term.
At October Half term a test was carried out and there were areas of the Year 2 spelling that need revisiting. The teacher will use the videos and Extra Practice Zone (at home and school) to revisit these.
