Because of your loyalty to the VSO, we have planned a special set of concerts with the only “Strings Attached” being that you share the experience of live music together with us! We are not only bringing the proven works of history s u c h a s D v o ř á k ' s “ N e w Wo r l d Symphony” and Stravinsky’s “Firebird,”

but also new audience-friendly works like the electric guitar concerto “Glacier”

and the ancient Chinese pipa concerto

“Qilian Rhapsody.” Among our guest artists are the iconic José Feliciano and the classical-pop trio Take3 plus we will also take you on a journey through some of the most beautiful melodies ever written for the operatic stage in our season closer. There really is something terrific for everyone! We won't let anything, not even a global pandemic, slow us down from bringing you the most beautiful m u s i c a n d t h e m o s t talented guest artists in our upward trajectory to make the VSO the premier orchestra of southern Texas! osé Feliciano is a name synonymous with an international presence that has influenced popular music for more than two generations. José is recognized as the first Latin artist to cross over into the English music market, opening the doors for other artists who now play an important role in the American music industry. As importantly, Feliciano has been acclaimed by critics around the world as “The greatest living guitarist.”

T

he Conductor’s Spellbook tells the magical story of Tony Stradivarius.

During a field trip to the symphony, young Tony finds a powerful book of spells and uses it to control the orchestra.

The Conductor’s Spellbook is an exciting and interactive concert experience that introduces audiences to music, orchestral instruments, and even conducting! The work is “through composed,” is narrated, and is perfect for the elementary grades. It is also suitable as a family concert for parents and children of all ages.
