DRUMMOND HILL SWIM TEAM

WELCOME

The Drummond Hill Swim Team is a member of the Suburban Swim League (SSL), which operates in the greater Newark area. It consists of swimmers 18 years of age or younger of varying degrees of ability ranging from the first time competitive swimmer to the serious year-round competitor

The team offers the opportunity to learn new strokes and techniques under experienced swim coaches and instructors. Swimmers enjoy the experience of competition through the eight dual meets, time trials, and championships. The Drummond Hill Swim Team successfully combines the social enjoyment of team participation with the seriousness of dual meet competition.

We are fortunate to have Meagan Pfeifer as our head coach and Maggie Benson as our assistant coach this year in the White Division of the SSL.

COMMUNICATION

Throughout the season, the most up-to-date Team Information will be shared via e-mail. Take some time to read all swim team updates to ensure you have the latest information. If you have any questions or

announcements, please send an e-mail to drummondhillswimteam@outlook.com . If you have not provided your family e-mail address, please send it to the team email address ASAP so you can be notified of

important team news.

Current Suburban Swim League News can be found on the SSL website: www.sslswim.org .

VOLUNTEERS

The Drummond Hill Swim Team is brought to you by the hard work of many parents who volunteer their time so that our children may benefit from competitive swimming. As with any community organization,

volunteering is essential for the smooth operation of the swim team. A Meet Information Packet will be distributed which will contain information on all volunteer positions for this year. A work schedule will be created and distributed via email . The work schedule may look different this year based on the approved SSL Swim Meet Plan. More information will be provided as soon as it is available.

PLEASE NOTE: It is important for volunteers to arrive at least 30 minutes before the start of the meet. Meet set-up and snack shack volunteers should arrive 1 hour before the meet. All volunteers should check in at the scorer’s table before EACH MEET. We understand emergencies occur and plans change. Should you be unable to work your scheduled time, YOU are responsible for arranging a trade/finding a replacement.

Please refer to the team roster which will be included with the work schedule .

With over 45 slots to fill during a meet, each person’s contribution is necessary to run an efficient swim meet.

Families who are unable to volunteer their time may opt-out for a fee of $150 included on the registration form.

SNACK SHACK

The Swim Team runs a Snack Shack at all home meets. We ask that each family donate an item at each home meet. The list of food contributions will be distributed with the volunteer schedule. A snack shack opt-out in lieu of food contributions is available for $40 and is included on the registration form.

INFORMATION ON WHAT AND HOW TO MAKE YOUR DONATIONS WILL BE DISTRIBUTED VIA EMAIL.

SWIM SUITS AND ACCESSORIES

The Swim Shop is offering our 2019 team suit for sale again this year. T here are two back options for the girls and jammers and briefs for the boys. In consideration of the abbreviated season, please remember that purchasing this suit is optional . Your swimmer is welcome to wear any suit of their choosing. If you choose to get a suit from The Swim Shop, you will need to visit their shop in Fairfax Shopping Center as they will not be hosting any team try-on events locally this year. You can reach out directly to The Swim Shop - 302- 575-1224 for sizing and orders.

Spirit wear and cap information will be forthcoming.

FUNDRAISERS

Thank you for participating in our Football Fundraiser held earlier this year!! The Snack Shack is another major fundraiser for our team - thank you for your support! If you have additional fundraising ideas, please let us know.

TEAM TIME TRIALS

Saturday, June 12th is our Team Time Trials. This is a mock meet to obtain times for each swimmer in all strokes so that the coaches can place swimmers in events appropriately. Each swimmer will swim all of the events in his/her age group that they are able to swim. This is also a good opportunity for timers and officials to develop their skills for the dual meet season. More information about Time Trials and the Pizza Party will be shared soon.

MEETS: DUAL AND OPTIONAL

We will have 4 dual meets in addition to our Team Time Trials this season and they will be split up into 8 sessions. Dual meets are meets with two teams within the same division competing against each other. All swimmers are expected to arrive 1 hour prior to the start of each meet.
