Adapting to an
online format
Clarington staff have been working to adapt our programming to help adults stay connected and keep active. We are providing a variety of virtual programs ranging from fitness, general interest and recreational activities. We are also providing technology support to help people get connected. Our tablet loan program is available for anyone who needs to borrow one and staff are available by email or phone to help with technical support. All virtual programs are free of charge. Registration
Visit www.clarington.net/BeACTIVE to register.
After registering, you will receive an email containing a calendar with unique links to each class. The class will be hosted by a Clarington staff member on Microsoft Teams. You don’t need to download software and can access the class on your desktop or laptop computer, tablet or smartphone. Detailed instructions will accompany the welcome email.

Virtual Fitness Equipment Loan
Please call Ashley Moss 905-404-1525 ext 2526 to arrange a pickup time for fitness equipment (light weights, balls and bands) for loan while participating in virtual fitness classes. Please note that equipment is first come first serve. Use code 24586 to register.
Fitness
Classes run for 45 minutes to one hour. Our fitness programs have been modified to run virtually using either no equipment or things you have around the house.
20/20/20 includes 20 minutes
of cardio, 20 minutes of weights and 20 minutes of stretching/ relaxation.
Body Weight Bootcamp Push
your limits and elevate your heart rate with this full body functional training class that uses large muscle movements to burn large amounts of calories and promote large strength gains.
Chair Yoga A gentle form of yoga
that is practised sitting on a chair, or standing while using a chair for support.
Fitness for Arthritis is beneficial
for those who have osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis or
fibromyalgia and wish to increase their range of motion, strength and balance.
H.I.I.T. High Intensity Interval
Training - Challenge yourself with this fast-paced workout hits every muscle group through a variety of functional movements. Build strength, endurance, and power while burning a ton of calories.
Meditation Learn more about how
meditation can help you find the “off switch” to the over-active mind. It also helps ‘de-stress’ the physical body. To improve your sleep quality, feel balanced, calm and centred, come and give it try.
Soup Can Sculpt Class consists of
a series of strengthening exercises using light dumbbells or soup cans from your pantry of equal size and weight.
Stretch & Sculpt is a mostly
seated class that features a full body workout with a strong focus
on core strength.
Tabata training is a H.I.I.T. workout,
featuring exercises that last four minutes consisting of eight sets of 20 seconds of exercise and 10 seconds of rest. This fast-paced workout that hits every muscle group using a variety of functional movements. Build strength, endurance, and power while burning a ton of calories. No equipment needed. Modifications can be made if required.
Yoga helps increase stamina,
strength, flexibility and balance while focusing on body awareness. Practise various yoga traditions that all combine forms of breathing, posture and exercise.
Zumba Gold a low impact
dance-based cardio class set to fun Latin-inspired beats.
