Let It Go Workshop

LIGHT!! It is so great to see the days get longer and brighter! It gives a sense of energy, hope and renewal. While I’m sure we still have some stormy days to come, both literally and figuratively, it seems the worst of the winter and pandemic are nearing an end.

But….unfortunately, it’s not over yet. As much as we would love to open our doors again today, we will continue to take a cautious approach to returning to normal. When the time is right, our plan is to do a staggered re-opening starting with activities that can be offered in person while maintaining safe distances. In-house dining will come later, but we will continue to

offer curb-side pickup of lunches for those who don’t yet feel comfortable to dine inside with us. I know the pandemic and changes it brought has been difficult for many of you. Our staff is anxious to see you again and hear your voices throughout the building. While I can’t give a definite date for starting re-opening, I am hopeful it will be soon. We will post updates on our web page and notify you in other ways. And, of course, we welcome your phone calls! Light at the end of the tunnel….light at the end of the day….we look forward to seeing you soon!

Community Discussion

THURSDAY, APRIL 15TH

3:00 PM

FACILITATED BY PAUL HANSEN

We all have so much to learn from one another. Each month, we have been getting together online or over the phone for a discussion of local issues.

This month, join us for a conversation about Jackson's environmental agenda. As someone who dedicated his career to conservation,

this topic is near and dear to Paul. We will talk about topics like protecting wildlife, responsible recreation, water quality, and more.

Participate online by going to www.SeniorCenterJH.org/events.

You can also participate on the phone by calling 346-248-7799. Press 895 3461 4112 (the meeting ID) when prompted. Press # when asked for the participant ID.

Thank You Suzanne

Salzmann,

For your generous gift to the Senior Center. Suzanne participated in our lunches and Bible Study for many years. She also purchased 4-H livestock animals for our meal programs. Her bequest will help us continue to serve seniors in the coming years. We are so very grateful!

If you have questions about how to leave a bequest in your will, we are happy to discuss with you. Please call Becky at 733-7300.

*Starts April 16th*

It is hard to believe that it has been a year since this Pandemic began. In some ways it feels like yesterday and in other ways it seems like decades ago. As more people get vaccinated and the CDC puts out new guidelines for vaccinated individuals it feels like we can see a light at the end of the tunnel. However, we have all been through a traumatic experience and I think some people are

forever changed. I’ve heard many people say that this year has given them time to reflect on what truly is important to them and a new appreciation for little things they have missed. Would you agree?

These are some things people have shared with me as lessons from the Pandemic: “I didn’t realize how much seeing a smile brightened my day; smiley eyes are just not the same”;

“I can’t wait to hug my grandkids”;

“I’m glad I learned how to Zoom but I don’t think I’ll keep doing it once this is all over”; “I hope society continues to prioritize

protecting vulnerable seniors & providing them the support they have earned”;

“I am more appreciative than ever to live in this incredibly generous & caring community-Yay Jackson Hole!”;

“I never thought I would miss grocery shopping so much!”;

“The Senior Center has been a lifesaver through all of this!”

This pandemic is not over yet but I do think it is a fitting time to start taking the time to reflect, process and heal. There are some beautiful lessons to learn. Better days are ahead.

Volunteer Appreciation Month

April is Volunteer Appreciation Month, and our

volunteers have given us so much to be thankful for. This year, our volunteer opportunities have looked very different than normal and our volunteers have stepped up. We know there are many people

who volunteered with us year after year, and have not been able to due to COVID-19. We're looking forward to the day when we can welcome people safely back into the Senior Center!

THANK YOU, VOLUNTEERS!
