Research and gather as much information as you can about WW2. Help Sheet • WW2 began in 1939 and ended in 1945

• WW2 devastated the world

In involved more than 60 countries

It was biggest war that had ever happened in the history of the world.

Over 50 million people died and thousands of people were seriously injured (some losing legs and arms) • Not only soldiers dies but civilians as well - members of the public

• It was the first war to take place over the entire planet. • It involved more than 1.7 million people

Its was the first war to use planes

In the war something called the blitz happened

• Britain and France declared war on Germany. Britain and France are at war with Germany following the invasion of Poland that lasted two days. The Prime Minister, Neville Chamberlain, announced the British deadline for the withdrawal of German troops from Poland was over and the world was at war.

• World War II, also called Second World War, was a conflict that involved virtually every part of the world during the years 1939 to 1945. The countries involved were the Axis power (Germany, Italy and Japan) and the Allies were France, England, USA, Russia and China.

Adolf Hitler was a German politician and leader of the Nazi Party, he rose to power to become a dictator of Germany. He was in power during WW2.

World War Two (WW2), which is know as the most devastating war of all time,

lasting a staggering 6 years begun in 1939 and ended in 1945. At the time of the

war Germany was ruled by a man names Adolf Hitler. Along with his Nazi

Party’ he wanted Germany to rule Europe and began invading Poland. Hitler

refused to stop these invasions which left Britain and France no choice but to

declare war on Germany – The beginning of WW2.

World War Two, which is know as a turning point in world history, is an event

that will never be forgotten. Six years (September 1939 to September 1945) of

heartache and devastation left the world in pieces. Together with the Nazi Party,

Germany’s leader (Adolf Hitler) wanted to rule the whole of Europe so began

invading Poland. After Hitler refused to stop the invasion, Britain and France

declared war on Germany – World War II had begun.

September 1939 to September 1945 changed the future of the world. Before it

began, Germany was ruled by a man named Adolf Hitler. Along with his Nazi

Party’ he wanted Germany to rule Europe and began this invasion by firstly

invading Poland. This was all to gain power and land. Hitler refused to stop

these invasions which left Britain and France no choice but to declare war on

Germany – The beginning of WW2.

World War 2 lasted six years, from 1939-1945. Before it began, Germany was

ruled by a man named Adolf Hitler. Together with the Nazi Party, he wanted

Germany to rule Europe. To gain more land and power, on 1 September 1939

German troops invaded Poland. After Hitler refused to stop the invasion, Britain

and France declared war on Germany – World War II had begun.

Most the war was fought by soldiers in trenches. Trenches were

long, narrow ditches dug into the ground where soldiers lived.

They were very muddy, uncomfortable and the toilets overflowed.

Soldiers developed medical problems such as trench foot.

Away from home for long periods of time.
