But Only Jesus

(Mark 9:2-9)

“Then a cloud overshadowed them, and from the cloud there came a voice,

“This is my Son, the Beloved; listen to him!” Suddenly when they looked around,

they saw no one with them anymore, but only Jesus. As they were coming down

the mountain, he ordered them to tell no one about what they had seen, until after

the Son of Man had risen from the dead.”

(Mark 9:2-3)

This Sunday we hear the wonderous story of Jesus’ transfiguration on a

high mountain. Up there the disciples see Jesus being transfigured in a

dazzling glory and dialoguing with Moses and Elijah. To them Moses means

something and Elijah too, but all of sudden they find no one but only Jesus.

What do they represent? Why is Jesus left alone? Do the disciples know what

this means? Does this mean anything to you? Does it have to do with Jesus’

own words about his rising from the dead?

City Mission of Schenectady has Emergency Request

for Winter Coats

First off, thank you to everyone who helped the City Mission earlier this season by collecting winter coats and gear. They’ve been able to help 830 people stay warm and safe already this winter!! As the mission heads into some of the coldest months of the year, they are starting to run low on coats. A drop box to leave coats – new or gently used clean coats – is on the joys and concerns table.
