LeMoyne-Owen College
occupies a beautifully landscaped campus at 807 Walker Avenue in
South Memphis. City Buses make regular stops throughout the day in front of the campus.
The principal buildings on campus include Brownlee Hall, the major administrative building; Steele
Hall's Fine Arts and Humanities Center, the oldest building on campus, houses faculty offices;
C. Arthur Bruce Hall, housing the gymnasium, pool and other physical education facilities; The Alma
C. Hanson Student Center, housing student lounges and recreation rooms, meeting rooms, dining
hall, staff offices, the Little Theater, the College bookstore; and the
Hollis F. Price Memorial Library.
The Gibson-Orgill Mathematics and Science Learning Center, houses faculty offices, laboratories,
classrooms, a Natural Science Library, the Division of Education and Social and Behavoiral
Sciences, the Academic Skills Center, and the Computer Center. Institutional Advancement, Alumni
Relations and Public Relations are in Sweeney Hall, and the Center for African and
African American Studies houses classrooms, conference rooms and office space. If you have the
time, we'd like you to visit the LeMoyne-Owen campus, meet a few students, sit in on a class, or
chat with some of our distinguished faculty members. Stop by the Alma C. Hanson Student Center
for a snack, or maybe lunch. Stroll around the historic grounds.
Get a feel for our beautiful campus. We want you to be comfortable. After all, you'll be spending a
lot of time here. Interviews are not required, but we'll arrange one if you'd like. And, of course, we'll
be more than happy to answer any questions you might have.
Campus visits should be scheduled at least two weeks in advance and are offered Monday through
Friday at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. by calling the Admissions and Recruitment Office at (901) 435-1500
or toll free for our out-of-town guests at (800) 737-7778 or via email at admissions@loc.edu.

Julia Turner
,
a native of Memphis, TN and
former student-athlete of LeMoyne-Owen College will be
serving her first year as Head Volleyball Coach and
Assistant Coach of the Women’s Basketball team.
She obtained a Bachelor’s of Science degree from DeVry
University, Memphis.
Prior to returning to LeMoyne-Owen College as a coach, Turner spent time as a
volunteer coach for co-ed volleyball and youth basketball teams in the
Memphis Park Commission and recreational leagues while mentoring teens
and young adults in life skills on and off the court. As she volunteered, she
learned of and embraced her passion for serving others through coaching,
training, supervising, mentoring and working to help people in need.
Her leadership style is one that is mimicked by a quote that serves as her
motto: "If a man is to shed the light of the sun upon other men, he must first of
all have it within himself."
