PORT ST. LUCIE, FL (October 26, 2007)--Despite a sluggish economy and cloudy skies on the second day of the show, over 1,500 consumers attended the annual Builder Expo and Home Show held the last weekend in September.

This year’s focus was on Green products for the home. More than 80 booths filled two exhibit halls at the St. Lucie Fairgrounds. Green product exhibits were easily identifiable by their color— green. Exhibitors ranged from builders, financial institutions, appliance centers, and flooring spe-cialists, to insurance providers, screen companies, stone and granite experts and more.

According to expo Co-chair Cathy Barham of New Homes & Design Magazine, exhibitors were

happy with traffic and said they received qualified leads.

“Consumers who came through the doors this year were more qualified prospects than in prior years. They knew what products and services they wanted more information on, and many scheduled appointments for pre-installation measuring and final product selection.”

Cindy Hall, co-chair of the Treasure Coast Builders Association (TCBA) Green-Build Coun-cil, remarked that many consumers came to the expo to learn more about how to make their exist-ing homes Green.

“Folks took away some valuable information and learned they can begin to implement Green

steps in their own homes simply by using florescent light bulbs in place of incandescent bulbs. Other consumers were there to learn more about the ben-efits of installing natural and restorable products, like cork and bamboo flooring, as well as the bene-fits of using permeable concrete and rock products in their exterior hardscaping.”

A number of door prizes were given over the two days of the show and all who attended the expo were encouraged to sign up to win a General Elec-tric ENERGY STAR® rated stainless steel appli-ance kitchen package, which was provided by TCBA. The name of the lucky winner, Baxter Cos-ton of Sebastian, was pulled by TCBA’s executive vice president, Gail Kavanagh.

2015 Pinnacle Builders Announced

TCBA Celebrates 40 Years of Service

Life Director Jeff Braun of Coastal Building Contractors, Area IV Associate Vice President Wendy Dittmar of Manning Building Supply, Repre-sentative Gayle Harrell, Dr. James Harrell, President Ronnie Kirchman of Kirchman Construction, TCBA Executive Director Maddie Williams,

FHBA Life Director George Cooper of Cooper Consulting Engineers and James Clasby of Paradise Homes.

2015 Pinnacle Builders

Celebrating our 40 year milestone are Past President Bob Cenk of Homecrete Homes, Immediate Past President Scott McCracken of Saw-horse Construction, President Ronnie Kirchman of Kirchman Construction,

1st Vice President Duke Scales of Scales Building Corp. and Treasurer Lloyd Rogers of Rogers Designs.

Representatives from Martin, Indi-an River, Okeechobee Indi-and St. Lucie Coun-ties along with 120 other Florida Home Builders Association members visited the state capitol in Tallahassee in March to present the building industries priorities to the Florida Legislature. Appointments with our local state representatives and

senators gave us the opportunity to discuss issues that affect us on a state level as well as here at home. Current water policies and its relevance to development and economic growth topped the list. Other issues in-clude affordable housing, education, build-ing and fire code regulations, construction liability and property rights were just a few

of the many topics that were discussed. If you have an interest to get more involved and help affect changes to the rules that govern the construction industry contact anyone in the photo above. We will be happy to help get you on the advocacy path.

The Treasure Coast Builders Asso-ciation (TCBA) is pleased to announce the 2015 Pinnacle Builder Award Recipients. The Pinnacle Builder Award is the highest honor a builder member can receive within the TCBA and emphasizes their commit-ment to our Associate members. These companies have achieved Pinnacle status because 75% or more of their sub-con-tractors are their fellow TCBA members. Congratulations to Board Member Earnie Carrere of Carrere General Contractors, Life Director Jeff Braun of Coastal Build-ing Contractors, President Ronnie Kirch-man of KirchKirch-man Construction, Karen Gordon of Paradise Homes, Past President Ken Ringe of Bayview Construction, Past President Don Santos of Santos

Jeff Braun of Coastal Building Contractors and Michael Johnston of S.P.S. Building Supply present a very generous donation on behalf of the Timon family to President Ronnie

Kirch-man (left) and Past President Scott McCracken (far right) for the TCBA Charitable Fund.

Education and training is one of Treasure Coast Builders Associations main priorities and once again an extremely generous endowment from SPS Building Supply was received at our installation banquet to help us further our mission. Since 2006 the Timon family has made donations to the TCBA Charitable Fund to help to ensure that our local students have access to the curriculum and training they need in high school. These donations also fund college scholarships so our children can work and prosper here on the Trea-sure Coast in the building industry. To the entire team at S.P.S., we can’t thank you enough for all you do for our youth.

Did you know that the average age of a skilled construction worker is 48 years old? Who will be available when those workers are no longer in the field? We need to find a more ways to get young people interested in the construction industry. We have started that process with the Future Builders of America programs locally on the treasure coast and also statewide.

The Future Builders of America (FBA) programs are dedicated to helping engage students in construction-related educational activities, includ-ing assistinclud-ing them in understandinclud-ing and pursuinclud-ing rewardinclud-ing careers in con-struction and related trades. The FBA is also dedicated to promoting employ-ment opportunities in the construction industry via a network of local student chapters, scholarships, a student leadership development program and other targeted initiatives.

If you’d like to help with this effort call the TCBA office for more in-formation at 772-336-8222.

A Heartfelt Thank You

to S.P.S. Building Supply

President’s Message

By—Ronnie Kirchman, President

It is truly an honor and a privilege to be your 2015 President of the TCBA! I am looking forward to a banner year for the Treasure Coast Builders Association!

The TCBA is one of the strongest and most successful building associations in the State of Florida. We are fortunate to have so

many members, board members, and officers who give so generously of their time to serve the greater good of our association both on the local and state level. A huge THANK YOU to those members! If you are not already involved within the TCBA, I strongly encourage each one of you and your employees to become active and exercise the professional responsibility we all have to each other! Join a committee, volunteer at an event, sponsor an event, climb the ladder to become president of this great construction organization! The sky is the limit and the ben-efits along the way are priceless. Once involved with the TCBA, the people you meet along the way become more than your business acquain-tances they become your friends. As a team we can conquer great things within the construction industry if we all become involved!

My number one goal as your president is to increase our membership. One time not so long ago our membership was exploding but due the huge economic downturn our membership had declined. We are currently at 334 members. My goal is to have our membership at 400 mem-bers at the end of my term as your president. Members are the backbone of this fine

organiza-tion, so I am reaching out to each and every one of you with a challenge! Set a goal for yourself in signing up just two new members this year! Membership is the core to our organization; you guys are the rock stars of this well respected construction organization, together we can make a difference. I am available to you to meet with your new prospective member at any time so I can tell them firsthand what our membership has done for me both personally and professionally! Get out there and recruit new members! Helping our organization grow is a key element of our success as there is strength in numbers!

Within each organization there are staff members that are the core of an organization and we have an exceptional staff: Nancy, Kait-lin and our EO Maddie work tirelessly and are dedicated to our organization. When you see one of these wonderful ladies at a meeting or event, thank them for all they do for our organization!

Set your goals high, recruit just two new members and become active within the Treasure Coast Builders Association!

2-10 Home Buyers Warranty® (2-10 HBW), the

indus-try leader in new construction and pre-owned home warranties,

announces that after an extensive review by the National

Asso-ciation of Home Builders (NAHB) they have been selected to

join the association’s affinity program.

2-10 HBW and the NAHB have aligned to provide

NAHB builder members exclusive discounts on specific 2-10

HBW products; Builder Backed Service Program, Front Line

Warranty Services and the New Construction Home Warranty

Service Agreement. All three products can be purchased as a

bundle, or the Builder Backed Service Program and Front Line

Warranty Services are available together, or the New

Construc-tion Home Warranty Service Agreement may be purchased

separately.

The Builder Backed Service Program utilizes NAHB’s

Residential Construction Performance Guidelines, and

pro-vides a platform for quick resolution of warranty coverage

concerns via 2-10 HBW’s experienced and knowledgeable

warranty administration team. Front Line Warranty Services

makes 2-10 HBW the first point of contact for homeowners

and the New Construction Home Warranty Service Agreement

protects homeowners against major systems and appliances

re-pairs, including parts and labor, once the manufacturer’s

war-ranties expire.

NAHB and 2-10 HBW have complimentary missions

Maddie Williams There have been lots of great moments for the Treasure Coast Build-ers Association this past year but I think what has stood

out the most for me was the team work of our members. We are featuring our Builder, Associate & Volun-teer of the year award recipients in this issue and all of them earned this recognition be-cause of the team work within their companies and our association.

Your current leadership team has

done a remarkable job keeping your as-sociation on track and going forward. Our President, Ronnie Kirchman, has been amazing and he has a great team behind him including Past Presidents Scott McCracken, Bob Cenk, Don Santos and the entire Board of Direc-tors who all give tirelessly of their time and talent to help the association to continue to grow.

I am honored to be celebrating my 13th year this month as part of the staff team here at TCBA. Our

Comp-troller Nancy Dalton recently celebrat-ed her 28th year and always does a great job of pitching in wherever there

is a need. Our new Spe-cial Projects Director, Kaitlin Cox is a really good fit for the team as well. She has already been a great asset and I expect she will continue to learn and bring great things to TCBA.

We hope you en-joy this first issue of our “Builder News” back in print. I think it reflects a lot of what we try to do to meet the needs of all of our members. We will be print-ing it on a quarterly basis but we do need advertisers to make that happen. If you are interested give me a call and we can discuss some great incentives. The office numbers are 772-366-8222, 772-562-8222 or 863-467-2007. I am also always available on my cell at 772-528-4895

I sincerely hope your future plans include being part of team TCBA. We need you more than ever before.

Builder of the Year…

Volunteer of the Year…

Paradise Homes

Manning Building Supply

The Porch Factory

Our building company of the year is a family but credits their

success to the team work of not just their immediate family but all of the members of their building team. They have been in the construction industry for more than 20 years.

Members of their team have served on our Board of Directors, represent & assist TCBA and the Florida Home Builders As-soc. in our government affairs efforts and are active members of FHBA & TCBA PAC and have assisted with candidate interviews. They also serve on various local boards and com-mittees on behalf of our industry.

Their team participates in all of our special events either by volunteering, participating or sponsoring. They have served as Chair of our annual fishing tournament for several years with others serving on the committee. They have hosted our Fun After 5 networking event and participated in our efforts to better engage our local realtors association. Keeping our industry and membership strong is a priority for this team and

the company has received our prestigious Pinnacle Builder award for the past 3 years demonstrating their unwavering support for our associate members. Several coworkers are Spikes and one a Life Spike and were recognized for their ef-forts in our recent membership drive.

In addition to serving the TCBA they donate their time and talents to several other local organizations and are so dedi-cated that they delayed their family vacation to be with us at the meeting to support one of the team being sworn in as a board member.

Treasure Coast Builders Association is proud to honor our Builder of the Year - Paradise Homes

Karen Gordon, Dave Paoletti, Andrew Gordon, Kelli Gordon, Julie Coker, James Clasby, Paula O’Brien, Elaine Prezzemol-lo, Jim Bradley, Patricia Kunde, Donna Baily, Victor Garcia, Hector Rodriguez and the entire staff.

Our Associate of the Year team has been an active member of TCBA since 1974 which makes them one of the last of our original members. Their company was originally founded in Ocala but grew to include 7 locations throughout the state of Florida including Ft. Pierce.

Members of their team have served on the TCBA Board of Directors for several years and one member is now our Florida Home Builders Area IV Associate Vice Presi-dent. Their marketing director always includes their rela-tionship with the association in their marketing plans and promotes us as experts in the industry. Their policy of shar-ing permit reports and servshar-ing on committees has brought us many new members. Several members of their team have also received spike awards and one is also a past volunteer

of the year.

They contribute to the TCBA special projects through participation, sponsorships and volunteering at just about every event we hold. Our annual Memorial Weekend Fishing Tournament and 5 K Fun Run is a family affair and one of their children serves as a representative of Future Builder of America which teaches all children the impor-tance of giving back to their community.

The Treasure Coast Builders Association is proud to announce the

Associate of the Year – Manning Building Supply Wendy Dittmar, Les Sadzek, Mike Nohejl and their entire staff

They have volunteered and served on our Parade of Homes committee, golf committee and chaired and participated in almost every sporting clays tournament since its inception. They are also long time booth participants and sponsors of our bi-annual Home & Garden shows. They have volun-teered time as a speaker for our Future Builders of America students and are dedicated to promoting membership

hav-ing recently achieved spike status. The company is also a generous annual sponsor of the association and contribute to our 5K Glo Night Run/Walk, the fishing and bowling tourna-ments, Texas Hold’em fun night and Casino night.

Outside of the TCBA they are members of other lo-cal community groups and enjoy spending time with family and friends.

It’s an honor to introduce the TCBA’s Volunteer of the Year team - Jim Brann & Ray Atkinson of The Porch Factory
