1. GENERAL REGULATIONS
1.1. The Director of Student Affairs and the Director of Education and Research are jointly
responsible for preparing the Högskolan Dalarna System of Qualification. The document is formally approved by the Vice-Chancellor.
1.2 Degree certificates are issued by the Vice-Chancellor of Högskolan Dalarna, or by any other person to whom the right to issue degree certificates has been delegated.
1.3 Högskolan Dalarna may award the first, second and third-cycle qualifications specified in this document (please also see the transitional provisions in appendix 3).
1.4 The degree certificate is a document of value, of which only one original document will be issued. A new degree certificate can, however, be issued if a person’s sex or Swedish personal identity
number has been changed. If a degree certificate has been lost, the student can obtain a certified copy of the copy kept in the Högskolan Dalarna archives.
1.5 A student can only obtain more than one (1) qualification with the same title if the main field of study differs.
1.6 In order for a student to obtain more than one (1) Lärarexamen (Bachelor/Master of Education) SFS 2001:23 within the same area of activities, the qualifications must be placed within different cycles.
1.7 Högskolan Dalarna may decide to withdraw the right to issue qualifications within a certain main field of study. Students who fulfill the qualification requirements within the main field of study prior to the date of withdrawal, has the right to obtain a qualification within that main field of study even after the withdrawal.
1.8 An application for a degree certificate shall be made by completing the proper application form and submitting it to the graduation officers at Högskolan Dalarna.
1.9 The degree certificates of Högskolan Dalarna are issued in Swedish with a translation into English included in the same document.
1.10 Every qualification requires an exact number of credits. If the exact requirement can not be met, due to the fact that a student has obtained more credits than required for the qualification, one course with an exceeding number of credits may be included in the degree certificate. The total number of credits of that additional course will however not be included in the total sum of credits comprised by the qualification.
1.11 In the degree certificate Högskolan Dalarna will specify the courses that are included in the qualification, the number of credits, grades and dates and, where relevant, previous education or activities that have been accepted for credit.
1.12 Students who have completed an educational programme may, on request, have the name of that programme stated in their degree certificate if they have completed all requirements as specified in the syllabus for the programme that the student has been admitted to.
1.13 Courses that are to be included in a degree must be at the Swedish university level. The student must have received passing grades for these courses and, as a rule, the courses must be completed. Only in cases of exception can a module that is part of an incomplete course be given credit towards a degree. The student must have been awarded a passing grade for the module, and the module must be clearly definable and have its only learning objectives.
1.14 A course that has been credited in its entirety will not be graded. Instead of a grade that course will be marked with a “T” in the degree certificate along with an explanatory footnote.
1.16 A Master (60 credits) degree may, apart from second-cycle qualification courses, include first-cycle qualification courses comprising a maximum of 15 credits. A Master (120 credits) degree may include first-cycle qualification courses comprising a maximum of 30 credits.
1.17 Second-cycle qualification courses may be included in a first-cycle qualification.
1.18 Courses that are included in a first-cycle qualification may not be included in a second-cycle qualification and vice versa. An exception may be made if the qualification providing eligibility comprises more than 180 credits. Such assessments will be made individually. Courses included in a Bachelor of Arts in Education (first-cycle qualification) may be included in a Master of Arts in Education (second-cycle qualification) and vice versa.
1.19 The titles of qualification used, and their English translations are stated in appendix 3 of this document: “Qualifications Awarded by Högskolan Dalarna”.
1.20 If the degree certificate is to refer to education at more than one higher education institution, the certificate is to be issued by the higher education institution at which the student has completed the education. However, this does not apply if the higher education institutions concerned in the particular case have agreed otherwise.

1.24 Refusal of a student’s application for a degree certificate, as well as a decision not to include a certain course in a qualification, may be appealed against.
1.25 Every degree certificate will be accompanied by a supplement in English, known as the Diploma Supplement, which provides information on the qualification in question and its place within the Swedish educational system, according to the recommendations regarding the supplement made by the Swedish Higher Education Authority (UHRFS 2013:9)

Transitional provisions as stated in the Higher Education Ordinance
[...]
4. The older provisions are to apply with regard to qualifications awarded after the end of June 2007, if all the education covered by the diploma was completed before then.
5. A person who has started an educational programme leading to a qualification under the older provisions in Annex 2 (The System of Qualifications) before 1 July 2007 and a person who has been admitted to such a programme before that date but has been allowed to postpone starting the programme until a time after that date is entitled to complete her or his education and obtain a qualification under the older provisions, though until no later than the end of June 2015.
6. A credit defining the scope of undergraduate or postgraduate education before 1 July 2007 is equivalent to one and a half credits under the new provisions.
7. The scope of a qualification that under points 4 and 5 may be taken under the older provisions in Annex 2 (The System of Qualifications) after the end of June 2007, is to be given in credits according to the older provisions. The diploma issued for a qualification referred to in point 5 is also to indicate the corresponding scope of the qualification in higher education credits according to the new provisions.
[...]
9. If previous education or a first-cycle qualification is required for a second-cycle
qualification awarded under the new provisions, a person who has corresponding education or a corresponding qualification from undergraduate education will also fulfil the
requirements for the qualification.
10. If previous first-level education or second-level education of a certain scope or a qualification from such education is required for admission to second-level or third-level education, a person who has corresponding education or a corresponding undergraduate qualification will also be eligible.
11. A person who fulfils the requirements for basic eligibility for admission to postgraduate education before 1 July 2007 will also be considered to have basic eligibility for admission to third-level higher education after that date, though until no later than the end of June 2015.
12. A person who has been admitted to undergraduate education and has been allowed to postpone starting her or his studies until after 1 July 2007 will be deemed to have been admitted to corresponding education under the new provisions. However, this does not apply if the person who has been admitted has chosen to make use of her or his rights under point 5.
13. It follows from point 4 of the transitional provisions in the Act (2006:173) on
amendment of the Higher Education Act (1992:1434) that decisions on permission to award qualifications that the Government or the National Agency for Higher Education has taken pursuant to older provisions continue to be valid.
[...]
16. The provision in Chapter 6, Section 10, first paragraph directing that the diploma is to state the level at which a qualification is taken is not to apply with regard to qualifications awarded under older provisions.
