A NOTE FROM FR. GIOMBETTI

I want to thank everyone involved with last weekend's

Trunk or Treat. What a fantastic time it was... and the rain held off!

To begin, thank you to everyone who took the time to deco-rate their trunks and dress up to pass out candy... you looked great! My sincere gratitude to all the people and businesses who made donations and the volunteers who gathered them. Thank you to the Scouts for their help setting up and our awesome youth group members who led the arts and crafts and games. My gratitude to our staff who helped with preparations and all those volunteers who helped prepare food.

Finally, thank you to Mrs. Shanna Carlstrom for the many hours she put into this project. Shanna, her husband Greg and their little son Zach are new to our parish. When I met with them a few months ago about Zach's Baptism, they offered to help me in my efforts to do more to bring young families from our community together. Trunk or Treat was Shanna's idea and she saw it through at all stages. Thank you, Shanna, for all your hard work.Welcome to our parish family! If you'd be willing to help in our efforts to do more to offer fun events for your fellow parishioners, please consider joining Shanna, me and several of your fellow parishioners in the Social Committee which will be getting up and running this November... the time commitment will be minimal and it's sure to be a lot of fun! Please see me for more informa-tion.

God's Blessings to you and your family,

Father Giombetti

ALL SOULS

We will continue to remember and pray for our deceased family and friends during November. We especially remem-ber those whose names have been given to us and are placed on the altar.

If you would like us to remember anyone in particular we encourage you to take an envelope found at the entrances of the church/chapel. Please write the deceased’s names and return it in the collection next week.

VIRTUS TRAINING

Sunday, November 5th at 1:30 pm

This training session is open to anyone that has not signed up in advance.

VISITING SEMINARIANS

• November 5th This Sunday, November 5th begins National Vocation Aware-ness Week. The word “vocation” comes from the Latin word meaning “to be called.” The Lord, knowing the unique gifts that he’s given us, calls or invites us to develop and share those gifts in specific ways. This Sunday after all the Masses seminarians will share how they are discerning God’s call for them to serve as diocesan priests.

VETERANS DAY COVERS

We will be honoring our veterans, living and dead, during Masses on November 11th & 12th. It has been a tradition in our parish to have the veterans or active duty member’s hats or photos at the foot of the altar during the masses. These covers are a visible way to remember our veterans.

We ask all veterans/active duty or any family members who have veteran’s hats (or photos) to drop them off at the parish office by Friday, November 10th. Please include your name & contact info with the hats/photos so that they can be returned.

GRAND ANNUAL APPEAL

We are very grateful for the generosity shown by so many to our Annual Appeal. If you have not yet had an opportunity to return your gift card, please do so as soon as possible. Every gift is welcomed and sincerely appreciated.

If you did not receive a letter, you can find letters, and pledge cards at the entrances of the church. Thank you.

R.C.I.A

• Rite of Christian Initiation

Do you know someone who was Baptized Catholic and never made his or her First Holy Communion or Confirmaion? Thinking about becoming Catholic or know someone who might be interested? The R.C.I.A. program is for you! The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults is the program through which we teach the basics of the Catholic faith to prepare adults to become fully initiated (be Baptized, Confirmed and receive First Communion) in the Church. Fr. Giombetti, along with a fantastic team of parishioners, will be starting the R.C.I.A. program starting this month. If you or someone you know is interested in learning more about becoming Catholic, or if you’d like information about joining the team, please contact Father Giombetti.

ST. BASIL’S FOOD PANTRY

• Fall, 2017

There have been several news stories over the last year pointing out that many college students do not have enough food. Here at St. Basil’s chapel, we have recognized this and have a food pantry downstairs to help address this problem. To keep the pantry stocked, there is a monthly food drive on the first weekend of the month. Grocery bags are placed at the entrances to the chapel. If you are able to help, please take a bag and return it the following week with any non-perishable foods you can spare. Cereals, pasta, snacks and drinks are all greatly appreciated.

A food drive by the New England Food Foundation is a major source of our non-perishables. This year the drive is on

Saturday, November 18 – your help is appreciated to unload the truck to our supply closet around 12:00 pm.

Thank you for all that you have done in the past. This food is greatly appreciated by many. For more information please call Steve 508-697-3966

MAINTENANCE MANAGER UPDATE

Over the past several months, we have been searching for a Maintenance Manager for the parish. After multiple interviews, we are pleased to announce that Brian Delmonte has been selected to become our new Maintenance Manager. Brian has worked for the parish for almost a year, and has been actively involved with maintenance since he has been hired. He has done an excellent job in his role, and already has a solid understanding of our particular parish and its needs. Brian has a strong working knowledge of the property already, making the transition to his new position a smooth one. Please help us congratulate Brian on his new position!
