Online lesson 1: Key Grammar: Using the verb Tener (to have).

Tener (to have) is an irregular verb in the Present tense. This means it must be learnt by heart because it doesn’t follow a pattern.

Some set phrases with ‘Tener’:

Tener que + infinitive – to have to + infinitive Tener miedo de – to be scared of

Tener hambre – to be hungry Tener sed – to be thirsty

Tener ganas de + infinitive – to feel like/fancy Tener prisa – to be in a hurry
