Courses: Principles of Accounting I ACCT 221 (Entry level accounting course covering the accounting cycle including classification, recording, and summarization of general business transactions and the preparation and use of financial statements.)

Principles of Accounting II ACCT 222 (This course is a continuation of Principles of Accounting I. The first part of the course covers financial accounting topics and the remainder of the course covers basic managerial accounting concepts.)

Intermediate Accounting I ACCT 441 (This course is an intensive study of financial accounting. The theories and concepts that define the content of the income statement, statement of retained earnings, and the balance sheet are studied in detail. Emphasis is placed on the theory and practice related to the accounting for asset accounts.)

Intermediate Accounting II ACCT 442 (This course is an intensive study of financial accounting. This course is a continuation of Accounting 441. It emphasizes theories and practices related to the accounting for liabilities, stockholders’ equity and corporations, dilutive securities, earnings per share, revenue recognition, taxes, pensions, leases, accounting changes, and the statement of cash flows. )

Advanced Managerial Accounting ACCT 863 (The course provides an examination of the control and decision-making methodologies used by management accountants in solving strategic problems for business. Methodologies covered include break-even analysis, regression analysis, the balanced scorecard, activity-based costing/management, value chain analysis, customer profitability analysis, total quality management, and performance evaluation/assessment. )

Budget and Executive Control ACCT 410 (Study and application of selected techniques used in the planning and control function of business organizations; including Lean Accounting, Target Costing, Value-Chain Analysis, and Capacity Management.) Lean Six-Sigma Creative Inquiry ACCT 299 (Independent Study course for

undergraduates in coordination with Sonoco and Bank of America. The students complete course work dealing with Lean Six-Sigma techniques. Then work with Sonoco or Bank of America to complete a project that generates at least $50,000 of additional revenues or cost savings. The students earn their Six-Sigma Green Belt professional certification.
