Extensions and Third-Party
Integrations
vRealize Operations product extensions and third-party integrations are typically delivered as one or multiple Management Packs. A Management Pack can be further categorized as an agent plugin, content pack or compliance pack.
Note: In previous vRealize Operations releases, Management Packs were called “Third-Party Adapters”.
vRealize Operations Management Packs fall into the following categories (Figure 1).
Advanced Management Packs
Advanced Management Packs are available with the Advanced or Enterprise edition of vRealize Operations as well as VMware vRealize™ Operations Insight™. These Management Packs target infrastructure and OS.
Enterprise Management Packs
Enterprise Management Packs are available with the Enterprise edition of the vRealize Operations. These Management Packs target business-critical applications.
Operating System Agent Plug-Ins
OS agent plugins are available with the Advanced or Enterprise editions of vRealize Operations. These plugins are deployed with VMware vRealize™ Hyperic® and collect operating system data.
Application Agent Plug-ins
Application agent plugins are available with the Enterprise edition of vRealize Operations. These plugins are deployed with vRealize Hyperic and collect application data.
Compliance Packs
Compliance Packs are available with the Advanced edition of vRealize Operations. These are deployed with VMware vRealize™ Configuration Manager™ and contain compliance templates for a wide variety of elements.
Content Packs
Content Packs are available with VMwarevRealize™ Log Insight™ and vRealize Operations Insight. Content Packs provide log analytics and dashboards for a broad set of log data sources.

All the currently available vRealize Operations Management Packs are compatible with the latest release of vRealize Operations. Operations Management Packs available as part of vCenter Operations 5.x have been developed with forward compatibility.
