1 Introduction

This document is designed to be used as a guide for developers wishing to create a DHL Express Integrated Solution (DHLIS).

The following pages will detail the various DHL Express Products and Services and the scenarios in which the Products should be used.

Not all products will be applicable and your DHL Account Manager should be consulted for the list of products the DHLIS should include.

2 Product Descriptions

2.1 Time Definite Products

DHL Express offers Time Definite services for Domestic and International shipments, using the following products:

Express 9:00

Express 10:30 (currently only to the US) Express 12:00

Express Worldwide

Import Express Worldwide

2.1.1 DHL Express 09:00 & 10:30

Export, or Import delivery before 9:00am on the next possible business day. The Express 10:30 service is currently available only for deliveries to the US

This service is only available to specific areas which are detailed within the ‘sc_gb.int’ reference data file. (Please see ‘DHLIS5 – Other Reference Data ’ for further information)

2.1.2 DHL Express 12:00

Export or Import delivery before 12:00 on the next possible business day.

Maximum weight and size restrictions may apply, please contact your DHL Account Manager for further details.

2.1.3 DHL Domestic Express 09:00

Domestic delivery before 9:00am on the next possible business day.

Maximum weight and size restrictions apply, please contact your DHL Account Manager for further details.

2.1.4 DHL Domestic Express 12:00

Domestic delivery before 12:00 on the next possible business day.

2.1.5 DHL Express Worldwide

Export, Import or Domestic with delivery before 18:00 on the next possible business day.

2.1.6 DHL Import Express Worldwide

Delivery by end of the next possible business day where the receiver or third party will be billed for the transportation and related charges

Using Import Express, the transport costs can be billed via the 96 or 95 series account numbers of the recipient. IMPEX customer numbers always start with a 96 or 95. Import Express is a billing service which is only possible in conjunction with the products

2.2 Day Definite Products

DHL Express offers the Economy Select product when shipping internationally from the United Kingdom on the

Day Definite network and the variant selected depends on the shipment contents and where the shipment is destined for. This service then determines how the shipment is presented to customs.

2.2.1 DHL Economy Select (nondoc)

Used when shipping dutiable shipments from the United Kingdom to a destination outside the European Union, to be delivered during Normal Business Hours

2.2.2 DHL Economy Select (eu)

Used when shipping from the United Kingdom to a destination within the European Union, to be delivered during Normal Business Hours

3 Optional Services

DHL offers optional services as further delivery options or extended services in addition to the standard

products. Each shipment can be assigned up to 5 optional services (admissibility and combinability assumed). An optional service is always valid for the entire shipment, i.e. it is not possible to select services for individual packages.

The appropriate Extra Charge Code (for insurance (transport insurance) the sum insured) for the various optional services must be entered in the manifest message.
