TRAINING &

DEVELOPMENT

PROGRAMME

(2)

A chara,

In the first half of 2015 the Local Enterprise Office delivered over 60 training courses, approved grant aid for numerous small start-ups and expanding businesses, provided business advice and mentoring designed with the small entrepreneur in mind. This work will continue in the latter half of the year and I am pleased to welcome the Autumn brochure of LEO Limerick. Our smaller indigenous businesses, both new and existing, are central to the future economic development of Limerick and the country as a whole.

Over 90% of all businesses in Limerick are micro-enterprises and therefore, it is critical they are afforded access to the necessary finance, training and advice.

LEO Limerick is playing a central role in strengthening the local enterprise sector and pulling together all the players –Enterprise Ireland, Limerick City and County Council, other agencies and the private sector – to support everyone with a good business idea. As well as helping businesses to overcome the typical barriers to success such as finance or a lack of marketing or planning skills, LEO Limerick also promotes a pro-enterprise culture by organising enterprise events and award schemes, supporting local business networks and working with local organisations.

The supports for business are in place through the Local Enterprise Office and there has never been a better time to get into business in Limerick.

I would urge anyone considering starting a business venture or growing an existing small and micro business to visit www. localenterprise.ie/limerick where they can learn more about the wide range of opportunities and supports being offered by LEO Limerick.

Le meas, Conn Murray

Chief Executive, Limerick City and County Council

The Local Enterprise Office (LEO), Limerick was established on 15th April 2014 to assist small business start up and expansion in Limerick City and County. The first full year of operation of the LEO began in January 2015. To date in 2015 the LEO has delivered up to 60 training and development courses and events. LEO Limerick has also approved a total of €736,796 by way of grant aid for 37 projects, 65% of which are new start-ups. Building on the reputation of the Local Enterprise Office, Limerick for delivering quality training and development programmes for business as well as other activities such as networking and mentoring we have put together a very varied Autumn 2015 Training and Development programme to suit all stages of business development, from pre start, to start up, to established businesses.

In this programme there is a strong focus on tools to assist small business to develop awareness, knowledge and skills in all business areas including online commerce and social media in order to develop, enhance and grow their business.

There is something in this programme for all owner managers and I can assure you that the Local Enterprise Office is there for you and your business in 2015.
