Child Care Aware Training Information

FINDING AND REGISTERING FOR TRAININGS

All trainings in this calendar are available through your local

Child Care Aware of Minnesota agency. You can also find these

trainings by visiting MNStreams.org or by contacting your

Professional Development Advisor at your local Child Care

Aware agency.

MNStreams.org is an online catalog that includes all in-person

Child Care Aware professional development and training

opportunities available throughout Minnesota. Visitors can search

for courses in their area, access full course descriptions and schedule

information, and then register and pay for their training — all online.

Detailed instructions on how to use MNStreams.org are available at

the end of this catalog.

Additional trainings that meet licensing requirements may be

available through other organizations. Trainings that are approved

by the Minnesota Center for Professional Development (MNCPD)

are listed in Develop, Minnesota’s Quality Improvement and Registry

Tool. (See Professional Develop-ment Tool article on the next page

for more.)

To access these trainings, visit developtoolmn.org or call a

Professional Development Advisor at your local Child Care

Aware agency.

Develop continues to incorporate new features

and will replace MNStreams.org June 30, 2016

— allowing users to search, register and pay for all

trainings, including Child Care Aware of Minnesota

and Eager-to-Learn trainings, through one website.

Develop will be a true one-stop shop for individuals

looking for the latest professional development opportunities.

To help make a smooth transition, you should register to get a

Develop account and ID Number as soon as possible.

TRAINING FORMATS

Child Care Aware offers a variety of trainings, both in person

and online. Online trainings are available on the Eager-to-Learn

website at eagertolearn.org. These courses provide excellent,

accessible educational opportunities to people who care for children.

Child care providers, early childhood and school-age professionals,

parents, and other caregivers are invited to network and learn, all

from the comfort and convenience of home.

Eager-to-Learn recently introduced a new format that continues

its tradition of combining technology and classic learning models.

Anytime Learning online trainings are self-paced courses

designed to give students the flexibility to learn on their own

time and at their own speed. Students follow interactive

presentations that feature an easy-to-use control panel with audio

and video support. Learning checkpoints and quizzes throughout

Anytime Learning presentations will help students stay engaged

Training Calendar Key

Minnesota Core

Competency Content Areas

Each individual training denotes the Content Area with a

“CC” followed by a Roman numeral. Minnesota has

introduced new competency content areas for early

childhood professionals with the Knowledge and

Competency Framework, which Child Care Aware will

incorporate beginning in 2016. More information about

the new framework is available on the MDE website:

http://education.state.mn.us/MDE/EdExc/EarlyChildRes.

Child Development

Associate (CDA) Content Areas

Each training listing also includes its CDA content area.

Look for the “CDA” followed by its corresponding

number. A Child Development Associate is a national

credential issued by the Council for Professional

Recognition. To find out more about the National

Child Development Association Credential, and

related Child Care Aware of Minnesota services,

please visit www.childcareawaremn.org/credentials.

Parent Aware Core Curriculum

Many of the upcoming trainings will meet Parent Aware training requirements. Look for the “Star Number” icon next to each listed

training in the catalog to identify eligible trainings. The numbers reflect the corresponding training topic area listed below:

(It is recommended that participants complete 10 hours of training for a One-Star Rating and the 8 hours required for a

Two-Star Rating first, then move on to the Three- and Four-Star Rating requirements.)
