The lessons in the Basic Tutorial section guide you through using the tools and commands in CADWorx P&ID to create a drawing without a database. After you complete all of the lessons in this section, the finished drawing should resemble the example below.
Even if you intend to use the software with a database, we recommend that you complete the Basic Tutorial lessons.
When appropriate, a tutorial lesson cross-references a pertinent topic in the CADWorx P&ID User's Guide so that you can get additional information regarding a specific command or concept.

Start a new drawing
When you open CADWorx P&ID, AutoCAD is loaded first. Also loaded are two template files in the [Product Folder]\P&ID\Support folder.
Imperial.dwt - CADWorx P&ID Imperial template Metric.dwt - CADWorx P&ID Metric template Follow the steps below to begin creating a new drawing.
When you first open the software the Startup Options dialog box opens so that you can specify the environment. Select Without Database and then click OK. Follow the steps below to start a new drawing with either metric or imperial.
1. Click New . Alternatively, type QNEW, and press ENTER.
2. Select Imperial.dwt in the Select template dialog box, and click Open.
The Startup Options dialog box opens so that you can specify the environment. 3. Select Without Database, and click OK.
You should start any new drawing with a template.
Setup drawing parameters
Each time you begin a new drawing, you must first define drawing parameters as required for the current project.
1. Click the CADWorxP&ID tab and then click Setup in the Setup Panel. Alternatively, type SETUP, and press ENTER.
The CADWorx P&ID Setup dialog box appears.
By default Annotation is set to Off. Do not change this setting while you are working the lessons in the Basic Tutorial.

2. Click Border.The Borders dialog box appears.
3. Under Border type, select Predefined.
A list of predefined borders displays under Predefined borders. The list of predefined borders is controlled by the [Product Folder]\P&ID\Support\MVSetup.dfs file.
4. Select 34x22 (ANSI-D) in the Predefined borders list, and click OK. 5. Click OK on the CADWorx P&ID Setup dialog box.
The Edit Attributes dialog box appears.
6. Define the information required for the title block, and click OK. 7. Click Save .
The Save Drawing As dialog box appears. 8. Type 10112 in the File name box, and click Save.

Place a vertical vessel
When you create a drawing, first place equipment and then draw the pipe in the direction of the flow. In this lesson, you will draw a vertical vessel, similar to the example below.
1. If the entire drawing is not visible, click the View tab and then click Extents in the Navigate 2D Panel.
2. Click the CADWorxP&ID tab and then click Vessels in the Equip panel. Alternatively, type ICONVESSEL, and press ENTER.
The Vessels dialog box appears.
3. Select Vert Vessel Ellip w/Skirt, and click OK. First corner point.
4. Click a point in the drawing to define the lower left corner of the internal rectangle. Second corner point.
5. Click a second point in the drawing, approximately four grid spaces to the right and 12 grid spaces up from the first point, to define the upper right corner of the internal rectangle. The software draws the vertical tank with the ellipses at the top and bottom of the vessel. Pick skirt base.
6. Click in the drawing to define the location for the base of the skirt. Pick position.
7. Click a point within the vessel to define the placement of the vessel tag. Pick position
8. Click a point above the vessel at the top of the drawing, about one grid space down from the drawing border, to define the placement of the vessel label.

Place a pump
In the next lesson, you will place two pumps.
1. Click the CADWorxP&ID tab and then click Pumps on the Equip panel. Alternatively, type ICONPUMP, and press ENTER.
The Pumps dialog box appears.
2. Select Pump Centrifugal (Y axis), and click OK. Pick position.
3. Click a point in the drawing to the right of the bottom of the tank to place the pump.
Pick orientation.
4. Define the orientation of the pump so that the suction and discharge are facing toward the right edge of the drawing.

Move the mouse from the left to the right to assign the correct orientation of the pump. When the pump is oriented correctly, click once in the drawing to exit the command. Pick position.5. Click a point just below the pump to place the additional tag. Pick position.
6. Click a point directly above the pump and one grid space down from the drawing border to define a position for the pump label.
7. Place a copy of the pump approximately ten spaces to the right of the first pump.
Place a copy of the pump
1. Click the Home Tab and then click Copy on the Modify panel. Alternatively, type COPY, and press ENTER to place a second pump identical to the first.
2. Click the first pump you placed. Select objects.
3. Press ENTER to complete the selection set. Specify base point or [Displacement/Mode]. 4. Click a point at the base of the pump.
Specify second point or <use first point as displacement>.
5. Click a second point in the drawing about 10 grid spaces to the right of the original pump, and press ENTER.
1 row(s) added to the database.
When you copy an object, CADWorx creates a row in the database automatically. The Editing Mechanical Component dialog box appears.
6. Type P-002 in the Tag box, and click Additional Data.
7. Type REFLUX PRODUCT PUMP in the Service box, and click OK.
8. Click OK in the Editing Mechanical Component dialog box to return to the drawing.
CADWorx P&ID clears the tag value for all pumps and vessels that are copied to prevent duplicate tag values.
Equipment that you draw in CADWorx P&ID is grouped together. To move an individual component within a group, you must use the AutoCAD STRETCH command.

Place the horizontal vessel
Follow the steps below to place a horizontal tank in the drawing, similar to the example below.
1. Click the CADWorxP&ID tab and then click Vessels on the Equip panel. Alternatively, type ICONVESSEL, and press ENTER.
The Vessels dialog box appears. 2. Select Horiz Vessel Ellip, and click OK.

3. Click a point in the drawing to define the lower left corner of the internal rectangle. Second corner point.
4. Click a second point in the drawing, approximately four grid spaces up and 10 grid spaces to the right of the first point, to define the upper right corner of the internal rectangle.
The software draws the horizontal vessel with the ellipses on each end of the vessel Pick position.

Place an exchanger
In this lesson, you will place two exchangers: one to the left of the vertical tank, and the other above the horizontal tank.
1. Click the CADWorxP&ID tab and then click Exchangers in the Equip panel. Alternatively, type ICONEXHANGE and then press ENTER.
The Exchangers dialog box appears.
2. Select Exchanger - Process Flow, and click OK. Pick position.
3. Click a point in the drawing to the left of the vertical tank, just above the seam, to define the location of the first exchanger.
Second position.
4. Click a point at the upper left of the exchanger to place the additional tag. Pick position.
5. Click a point above the exchanger at the top of the drawing, about one grid space down from the drawing border, to define the placement of the exchanger label.
6. Repeat steps1 through 5 to place an identical exchanger above the left end of the horizontal vessel.

Define equipment tags
Although you have placed several equipment items in the drawing, none of the equipment has been assigned a tag number yet. The Edit command allows you to select any item that has data associated with it, and edit that data. The steps below demonstrate how to edit the existing equipment in your drawing. When you finish, your drawing should resemble the example below.
1. Click the CADWorxP&ID tab and then click Edit on the Modify panel. Alternatively, type CEDIT, and press ENTER.
Select P&ID entity.
2. Select the vertical tank on the left side of the drawing. The Editing Vessel Component dialog box appears.
You can also get this box to display by double clicking the P&ID entity. 3. Define the property data as shown in the example below.

4. Click Additional Data.The Additional Data dialog box appears.
5. Type Depropanizer in the Corrosion Allowance box, and click OK. 6. Click OK on the Editing Vessel Component dialog box.
The equipment tag on the face of the vertical tank and the equipment label at the top of the drawing are both appended with the tag number.
7. Repeat steps 1 through 6 to edit the properties for the remaining equipment on the drawing as indicated below.

Draw process lines
The following lesson shows you how to connect the equipment with process lines. To ensure that the process and Actual From/To information is properly recorded, draw the process lines in the direction of the flow. If the process direction changes, you can modify the process
information.
1. Click the CADWorxP&ID tab and then click Major Primary on the Process Lines panel. Alternatively, you can type MPRIMARY, and press ENTER.
The command prompts for the process line functions are similar to the AutoCAD PLINE command.
2. Click a point at the top of vessel T-001 to indicate the start point of the line segment.
3. Draw the line up and over to the top of exchanger EX-002, clicking the point where you want each line segment to end.
4. When you reach the top of exchanger EX-002, right-click and select Enter to end the process line.
Your drawing should look similar to the example below.
5. Continue to use Major Primary to draw the remaining process lines as outlined below. a. Draw a process line from the bottom of exchanger EX-002 to the top of vessel V-010. b. Draw a process line from the bottom of vessel V-010 to the suction side of pump P-002.

c. Draw a process line up from the discharge side of pump P002 over to vessel T-001.From the corner of this line, above the P-002 pump, draw a line towards the right edge of the drawing.
d. Draw the suction line to pump P-001 and then draw the discharge line.
e. Draw a line from the bottom of the ellipse on vessel T-001 to exchanger EX-001. f. Draw the line from the top of exchanger EX-001 to the left side of vessel T-001.

g. Draw a line from the bottom ellipse on vessel T-001 to the right side of the drawing.h. Draw a line coming out of the left side of vessel T-001 toward the left edge of the drawing.

Annotate the process lines
After you have drawn the process lines, use Edit to annotate each process line with size, specification, and tag data. You can also enter tag information for the valves. Then, when you begin placing valves and equipment connections such as nozzles on the process lines, they automatically assume the size of the line. To help you identify which process line is being referenced in the following lesson, use the labels shown in the example below.

1. Click the CADWorxP&ID tab and then click Edit on the Modify panel. Alternatively,type CEDIT, and press ENTER.
2. Select the process line coming out of the top of vessel T-001 (A). The Editing Line Component dialog box appears.
3. Define the process line properties as shown in the example below and click OK.
4. Continue using Edit to assign size and specification data for each of the remaining process lines as outlined in the table below.

The information that you define is stored with the process line. In Tag the process lines (on page 35), you will place tags on these process lines.
To assign a specification to any CADWorx component, click the CADWorxP&ID tab and then click Spec Assign in the Size_Spec panel. For more information, see "Spec Assign" in the CADWorx P&ID User's Guide. You can also use the CADWorx P&ID Setup dialog box to set the specification to 150-lb so that all process lines drawn are assigned the specification automatically at placement.
The line number system is explained in the Advanced Tutorial section. Using a line numbering system requires that you only enter the size and specification of the process line to automatically generate the tag value.

Place a nozzle
If you want the nozzles you place to acquire the size of the process line, you must first set the size of the process line. Otherwise, you must edit each connection manually.
1. Click the CADWorxP&ID tab and then click Nozzles on the Equip panel. Alternatively, type ICONNOZZLE, and press ENTER.
The Nozzles dialog box appears.
2. Select Nozzle - single line /w blind, and click OK. Pick position.
3. Select the point where the line coming out of the top of vessel T-001 meets the ellipse. Pick rotation.
4. Drag the mouse upright so that the nozzle is oriented correctly.
5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 to place the Nozzle - single line /w blind for each of the remaining connections on vessel T-001, as shown in the example below.
6. Repeat Steps 1 through 4 to place the Nozzle – No Flange on V-010, as shown in the example below.

Place instrumentation
1. Click the View tab and then click Window on the Navigate 2D panel, and drag a window around the pumps.
The software zooms in around the pumps.
2. Click the CADWorxP&ID tab and then click Discrete - Local on the Instruments panel. Alternatively, type DILOCAL and then press ENTER.
Specify start point.
3. Click the discharge line on pump P-100, about one grid space up from the pump. Specify next point or [Undo].
4. Click a point about 1-1/2 grid spaces to the left of the discharge line to define the insertion point of the instrument bubble, and press ENTER.
The Lines dialog box, which contains different types of instrument lines, displays. 5. Select Instrument, and click OK.
6. Click Edit on the Modify panel . Alternatively, type CEDIT, and press ENTER. Select P&ID entity.
7. Select the instrument you just placed.
The Editing Instrument Component dialog box appears.
8. Type values for Function and Tag as shown in the example below, and click OK.
9. Repeat steps 2 through 8 to place an instrument bubble on the discharge line of pump P-002, and tag the bubble PI-002.

10. Click the View tab and then click Window on the Navigate 2D panel, and drag awindow around V-010.
The software zooms in around the vessel.
11. Repeat steps 2 through 8 to place an instrument bubble at the top of vessel V-010, and tag it PC-010.
12. Place another instrument bubble attached to the PC-010 instrument line, and tag it PI-010. You must pick three different points to place the bubble. The first point is the instrument line on PC-010, the second is directly across, about 1-1/2 grid spaces to the left of the first point, and the third point is directly up from second point, even with the PC-010 bubble. The drawing should resemble the example below.
13. Click the View tab and then click Window on the Navigate 2D panel, and drag a window around the right end of vessel V-010, leaving enough room for two instrument bubbles.

14. Repeat steps 2 through 8 to draw an instrument bubble from the center of the ellipse, andtag that bubble LT-010.
Draw two instrument lines from the LT-010 instrument bubble
1. Click the instrument line that runs from the horizontal vessel to the LT-010 instrument bubble, and press DELETE.
2. Click the CADWorxP&ID tab and then click Instrument on the Instrument Lines panel. Alternatively, type INSTRUMENT, and press ENTER.
Specify start point.
3. Click a point at the top of the LT-010 instrument bubble, and draw a line up and over into the vessel ellipse.
4. Press ENTER to exit the command.
5. Repeat step 2, and draw a second instrument line from the bottom of the instrument bubble to the vessel ellipse and then press ENTER.
6. Click the Home tab and then click TRIM on the Modify panel. Select objects.
Right-click anywhere in the drawing.

7. Click the bottom of the line coming out of the LT-010 instrument bubble to trim theinstrument lines back to the ellipse, as shown in the example below.
Assign tags to the instrument bubbles.
1. Click the CADWorxP&ID tab and then click Discrete - Local on the Instruments panel. Alternatively, type DILOCAL and then press ENTER
Specify start point.
2. Select the center of the LT-010 instrument bubble.
When you select the center of an existing instrument bubble, the software uses the same tag for the new bubble, which is 010 in this example.
Specify next point or [Undo].
3. Drag the bubble to the right until it is flush against the right edge of the first instrument bubble, click once, and press ENTER.
4. Select the instrument, and click OK. 5. Type CEDIT, and press ENTER.
Select P&ID entity.
The Editing Instrument Component dialog box appears. 6. Type LC-010 in the Tag box, and click OK.

7. Repeat the previous steps in this lesson as necessary to place LT-001 and LC-001instrument bubbles on T-001 and then place nozzles on the instrument arms, similar to the example shown below.

Place valves and control valves
1. Click the View tab and then click Window on the Navigate 2D panel, and drag a window around LT-001, LC-001, and the line coming out of the bottom of T-001 going towards the right edge of the drawing.
The software zooms in around the horizontal tank area.
2. Click the CADWorxP&ID tab and then click Valve - Control on the Valves panel. Alternatively, type ICONCONVALVE, and press ENTER.

3. Select Control – Gate Diaphragm, and click OK.Pick position.
4. Place the control valve about two grid spaces from the right side of the horizontal line, similar to the example shown below.
5. Click Discrete - Local on the Instruments panel. Alternatively, type DILOCAL and then press ENTER.
Specify start point.
6. Place an instrument bubble for the control valve, as shown in the example below.
To place the instrument line at an angle, you must turn off Ortho. 7. Type CEDIT, and press ENTER.
Select P&ID entity.
8. Select the instrument you just placed.
The Editing Instrument Component dialog box appears.
9. Type LCV in the Function box and 001 in the Tag box, and click OK.
10. Click Valve - Regular on the Valves panel. Alternatively, type ICONREGVALVE, and press ENTER.
The Valves Regular dialog box appears. 11. Select Gate, and press OK.
Pick position.
12. Place a gate valve approximately three grid spaces to the left of the control valve. 13. Right-click anywhere in the drawing, and select Repeat ICONREGVALVE.

14. Place a second gate valve approximately three grid spaces to the right of the control valve,as shown in the example below.

The 6” attribute for the control valve is a little close to the 6” attribute of the gate valve on the right. You can use the grips of the block attribute to move them a little farther away from each other.
Draw connecting lines
1. Click the CADWorxP&ID tab and then click Pneumatic on the Instrument Lines panel. Alternatively, type PNEUMATICBIN and then press ENTER.

Place on/off arrows
You will place three on/off arrows: one on the process line that runs from the left edge of the drawing, and the other two on the process lines that run towards the right edge of the drawing. 1. Click the CADWorxP&ID tab and then click Links on the Equip panel. Alternatively,
type ICONLINK and then press ENTER. The Links dialog box appears.
2. Select Link From (type 1), and click OK. Pick position.
3. Place the arrow on the line that runs from the left edge of the drawing to the left side of vessel T-001.
Pick rotation.
4. Drag the mouse to the right (in the direction of the point of the arrow) so that the head of the arrow points towards the horizontal tank.

5. Repeat steps 1 and 2 to place two arrows on the process lines that run towards the rightedge of the drawing, as shown in the example below.

Pick insertion or point on polyline.
7. Click a point near the end of each process line in the drawing to place a flow arrow. The flow arrow defaults to the end of the lines, in the direction of the flow.

Each placement of a flow arrow terminates the LARGEARROW command. To recall the command and continue placement, right-click anywhere in the drawing, and select Repeat LARGEARROW.

Although the drawing layout used for the advanced tutorial lessons is similar to the one used in the basic tutorial lessons, the two drawings are different. Also, the advanced lessons use a slightly modified workflow for defining and modifying property data than the one used in the basic lessons.
Do not store drawings created using an external database in the same folder with drawings created without an external database.

Start a new drawing
When you first open CADWorx P&ID, AutoCAD is loaded first. Also loaded are two template files in the [Product Folder]\P&ID\Support folder.
Imperial.dwt - CADWorx P&ID Imperial template Metric.dwt - CADWorx P&ID Metric template Follow the steps below to begin the tutorial project.
When you first open the software the Startup Options dialog box opens so that you can specify the environment. Select Without Database and then click OK. Follow the steps below to start a new drawing for the advanced tutorial.
Advanced tutorial must be done with a database. 1. Click New . Alternatively, type QNEW, and press ENTER.
2. In the Select template dialog box, select Imperial.dwt and then click Open. You should start any new drawing with a template.
The Startup Options dialog box opens so that you can specify the environment to be used. 3. In the Startup Options dialog box, select Create under New Project and then click OK.

The Setup New Project Directory dialog box appears.
4. Select Access in the Database Type list, and click Browse. The Access File to Create dialog box appears.
5. Define a path for the project and type a name for the Access database, and click Save. 6. In Setup New Project Directory, click OK.
The software associates this information with the drawing/project. The Startup Options dialog box appears again.
7. Click With Database under New Drawing, and click OK. The New Drawing Name dialog box appears.
8. Name the new drawing 10111, and click OK.
The new drawing that you create must reside in the same folder as the project you created in step 5.
Setup drawing parameters
Each time you begin a new drawing, you must define drawing parameters as required for the current project.
1. Click the CADWorxP&ID tab and then click Setup on the Setup panel. Alternatively, type SETUP, and press ENTER.
The CADWorx P&ID Setup dialog box appears. 2. In the Annotation section, select On.

4. Under Border type, select Predefined.
A list of predefined borders displays under Predefined borders. The list of predefined borders is controlled by [Product Folder]\P&ID\Support\MVSetup.dfs.
5. Select 34x22 (ANSI-D) in the Predefined borders list, and click OK. 6. Click OK on the CADWorx P&ID Setup dialog box.
The Edit Attributes dialog box appears.
7. Define the information required for the title block, and click OK.

Place a vertical vessel
When you create a drawing, first place equipment and then draw the pipe in the direction of the flow. In this lesson, you will draw a vertical tank, similar to the vessel shown in the following example.
1. Click the View tab and then click Extents on the Navigate 2D panel so that the entire drawing is visible.
2. Click the CADWorxP&ID tab and then click Vessels on the Equip panel. Alternatively, type ICONVESSEL, and press ENTER.
The Vessels dialog box appears.
3. Select Vert Vessel Ellip w/Skirt, and click OK. First corner point.
4. Click once in the drawing to define the lower left corner of the vessel. Second corner point.
5. Click once in the drawing to define a second point approximately four grids to the right and 12 grids up from the first point to define the upper right corner of the vessel.
The software draws the vertical tank with the ellipses at the top and bottom of the vessel. Pick skirt base.
6. Click in the drawing to define a point for the base of the skirt. Pick position.
7. Click a point within the vessel to define the placement of the vessel tag. Pick position.
8. Click a point above the vessel at the top of the drawing, about one grid from the border, to define the placement of the vessel label.

9. Define the property data as shown in the example below.10. Click Additional Data.
The Additional Data dialog box appears.

Place a pump
In the next lesson, you will place two pumps.
1. Click the CADWorxP&ID tab and then click Pumps on the Equip panel. Alternatively, type ICONPUMP, and press ENTER.
The Pumps dialog box appears.
2. Select Pump Centrifugal (Y axis), and click OK. Pick position.
3. Click a point on the drawing to the right of the bottom of the tank to place the pump. Pick orientation.
4. Define the orientation of the pump so that the suction and discharge are on the right side of the pump.
Move the mouse from the left to the right to assign the correct orientation of the pump. When the pump is oriented correctly, click once in the drawing.
Pick position.
5. Click a point just below the pump to place the pump tag. Pick position.
6. Click a point directly above the pump and one grid down from the border to define a position for the pump label.
The Editing Mechanical Component dialog box appears. 7. Type P-001 in the Tag box, and click Additional Data.
8. Type Reflux Product Pump in the Service box, and click OK.

Place a copy of the pump
1. Click the Home tab and then click Copy on the Modify panel. Alternatively, type COPY, and press ENTER to place a second pump identical to the first.
2. Click the first pump you placed. Select objects.
3. Press ENTER to complete the selection set. Specify base point or [Displacement/Mode]. 4. Click a point at the base of the pump.
Specify second point or <use first point as displacement>.
5. Click a second point in the drawing about 10 grid spaces to the right of the original pump and press ENTER.
1 row(s) added to the database.
When you copy an object, CADWorx creates a row in the database automatically. 6. Double-click the new pump.
The Editing Mechanical Component dialog box appears. 7. Type P-002 in the Tag box, and click Additional Data.
8. Check that REFLUX PRODUCT PUMP is in the Service box, if not type it in and click OK. 9. Click OK in the Editing Mechanical Component dialog box to return to the drawing, which
should resemble the example below.
CADWorx clears the tag value for all pumps and vessels that are copied to prevent duplicate tag values.
Equipment that you draw in CADWorx is grouped together. To move an individual component within a group, you must use the AutoCAD STRETCH command.

Follow the steps below to place a horizontal vessel. The resulting drawing will look similar to the one in the example below.

Place an exchanger
In this lesson, you will place two exchangers: one to the left of the vertical tank, and the other above the horizontal tank. The resulting drawing will look similar to the example below.
1. Click the CADWorxP&ID tab and then click Exchangers on the Equip panel. Alternatively, type ICONEXHANGE, and press ENTER.
The Exchangers dialog box appears.
2. Select Exchanger - Process Flow, and click OK. Pick position.
3. Click once in the drawing to the left of the vertical tank, just above the seam, to place the first exchanger.
Second position.
4. Click a point at the upper left of the exchanger to place the additional tag. Pick position.
5. Click a point above the exchanger at the top of the drawing, about one grid space below the top border, to define the placement of the exchanger label.
6. Click Edit on the Modify panel. Alternatively, type CEDIT, and press ENTER. Select P&ID entity.
7. Select the exchanger.
The Editing Mechanical Component dialog box appears.
This may happen automatically at this point. If the Editing Mechanical Component box opens automatically skip the steps as needed.
8. Type EX-001 in the Tag box.
9. Type Overhead Condenser in the Service box, and click OK.

11. Repeat steps1 through 10 to place an identical exchanger above the horizontal vessel, andtag it as EX-002.

Draw process lines
In this lesson, you will define global settings for specification and size and then connect the equipment with process lines. Draw process lines in the direction of the flow to ensure that the process and Actual From/To information is properly recorded. If the process direction changes, you can modify the process information.
Set the specification and size for the process lines
You can define the specification for process lines before placement. You can also set the size before placement. If you do not know the size of the process line prior to placement, you can use the CEDIT or SIZEASSIGN command to update the size.
1. Click the CADWorxP&ID tab and then click Spec Set on the Size_Spec panel. Alternatively, type SPECDLG, and press ENTER.
The Specification to Use dialog box appears.
2. Select 150 in the list of available specifications, and click Open.
3. Click Size Set on the Size_Spec panel. Alternatively, type SIZEDLG, and press ENTER.
The Sizes dialog box appears. 4. Double-click 14”, and click OK.
The main size and specification are now set to 14” and 150, respectively. The software retains these settings until you change them.

Connect equipment with process lines
When drawing process lines with CADWorx, the start and end point of the process lines should be visible in the AutoCAD window. If these two points are not visible, the process information is not recorded.
The command prompts for the process line functions are similar to the AutoCAD PLINE command.
1. Click Major Primary on the Process Lines panel. Alternatively, type MPRIMARY, and press ENTER.
From point.
2. Click a point at the top of vessel T-001 to indicate the start point of the line segment. Undo/<Endpoint of line>.
3. Draw the line up and over to the top of exchanger EX-002, clicking at the point where you want each line segment to end.

4. When you reach the top of exchanger EX-002, right-click and select Enter to end theprocess line. Your drawing should look similar to the example below.
5. Continue to use Major Primary to draw the remaining process lines as outlined below. a. Draw a process line from the bottom of exchanger EX-002 to the top of vessel V-010. b. Draw a process line from the bottom of vessel V-010 to the suction side of pump P-002.
The drawing should look similar to the example below.
c. Draw the discharge line from pump P-002 to vessel T-001.
d. Draw the suction line to pump P-001, and draw the discharge line for P-001. The line should lead up and attach to the horizontal vessel. The drawing should look similar to the example below.

Add line count to the line numbering system
At this point, line numbers are using a format of SIZE-SPEC. You must now add COUNT to the format.
1. Click the CADWorx P&ID tab and then click Setup on the Process Lines panel. Alternatively, type LINENUMBER and press ENTER.
The Line Number Systems dialog box appears. 2. Select COUNT in the Category box, and click Add.
COUNT appears below SIZE and SPEC in the list box on the right.
3. Select System On (Dynamic Size/Spec). 4. Click OK.

Enter tag information for process lines
Now that you have drawn the process lines, use the Edit command to annotate them. The current size and specification for these lines is 14”-150. If possible, assign the process line size at this time so that valves and equipment connections, such as nozzles, are automatically sized. 1. Click the CADWorxP&ID tab and then click Edit on the Modify panel. Alternatively,
type CEDIT, and press ENTER. Select P&ID entity.
2. Click the process line coming out of the top of vessel T-001.
The Editing Line Component dialog box appears. The values in the Size and Spec boxes are the ones you defined in Draw process lines (on page 47).
The value displayed in parentheses in the dialog box is the database ID and is unique for each component in the project.
3. Click Additional Data.
The Additional Data dialog box appears. 4. Type 1001 in the Count box, and click OK.
The software appends the tag number with the process line tag count of 1001. 5. Click OK to return to the drawing.

5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 to place a Nozzle - single line /w blind for each of the remaining connections on vessel T-001, as shown in the example below.

11. Use the Window command, and drag a window around the right end of vessel V-010, leaving enough room for two instrument bubbles.

13. Click the instrument line that runs from the horizontal vessel to the LT-010 instrument bubble, and press DELETE.

15. Click a point at the top of the LT-010 instrument bubble and draw a line up and over into the vessel ellipse.

18. Click the Home tab and then click TRIM on the Modify panel. Select Objects.

20. Trim the instrument lines back to the ellipse, as shown in the example below by click on theline inside the curve of the horizontal vessel.
21. Click the CADWorxP&ID tab and then click Discrete - Local on the Instruments panel. Specify start point.
22. Select the center of the LT-010 bubble.
When you select the center of an existing bubble, the software uses the same tag (010) for the new bubble.
Specify next point or [Undo].
23. Drag the bubble to the right until it is flush against the right edge of the first instrument bubble, click once and press ENTER.
The Editing Instrument Component dialog box appears.
24. Type LC in the Function box, if necessary, type 010 in the Tag box and then click OK.

4. Place the control valve about two grid spaces from the right side of the horizontal line,similar to the example shown below.
5. Click Discrete - Local on the Instruments panel. Alternatively, type DILOCAL and then press ENTER.

6. Place an instrument bubble for the control valve, as shown in the example below.
To place the instrument line at an angle, you must turn off Ortho. The Editing Instrument Component dialog box appears.
7. Type LCV in the Function box and 001 in the Tag box, and click OK. 8. Click Valves - Regular on the Valves panel.
The Valves Regular dialog box appears. 9. Select Gate, and press OK.
Pick position.
10. Place a gate valve approximately three grid spaces to the left of the gate valve. 11. Right-click anywhere in the drawing, and select Repeat ICONREGVALVE.

12. Place a second ball valve approximately three grid spaces to the right of the gate valve, asshown in the example below.
The 6” attribute for the control valve is a little close to the 6” attribute of the gate valve on the right. You can use the grips of the block attribute to move them a little farther away from each other.
13. Click Pneumatic on the Instrument Lines panel. Alternatively, type PNEUMATICBIN and then press ENTER.

14. Follow the command prompts to draw a pneumatic line from the LC-001 instrument bubble on the horizontal tank to the top of the control valve actuator, as shown in the example below.
15. Click Major - Secondary on the Process Lines panel. Alternatively, type MSECOND and then press ENTER.

16. Draw the bypass process line for the control station. The Editing Line Component dialog box appears. 17. Type the values as specified below:

18. Click Valves - Regular on the Valves panel.The Valves Regular dialog box appears. 19. Select Globe, and press OK.
Pick position.
20. Place a globe valve in the bypass line, as shown in the example below.
21. Click the View tab and then click Extents on the Navigate 2D panel so that the entire drawing is visible.
22. Click the Window on the Navigate 2D panel, and drag a window around the two pumps in the bottom right corner of the drawing.
23. Click the CADWorxP&ID tab and then click Valves - Regular on the Valves panel to place check and gate valves around the pumps.
Each placement of a valve terminates the command. To recall the command and continue placement, right-click anywhere in the drawing, and select Repeat
