Fabulous company, great guest speakers, delicious food and wonderful friendships!

Would you like to go on a great weekend away with me and six other fabulous women? I’ve chosen 8 gorgeous locations, arranged fabulous speakers and delicious food.

All you need to do is to say YES!

You don’t have to be a big reader, it’s just fun be involved in the book conversations. Small groups (approx. 8 each time) and yes, there will also be the legendary goody bags for each attendee! It’s a great way to catch up and relax. Please feel free to invite a friend.

Take Me Home Country Road

27th - 29th March 2020

Date: Afternoon of Friday, 27th – afternoon of Sunday 29th March Location: Spicer’s Guesthouse, The Hunter Valley

Speakers:

Catherine Marshall; Award-winning travel journalist, Catherine Marshall, will speak about the art of travel writing; her fascinating travels to and subsequent articles on places like Antarctica, Russia’s Trans-Polar Railway, Uluru, gorillas in the Republic of Congo and Japan’s Cherry Blossom Festival.

Scott Bevan; Writer and broadcaster Scott Bevan will talk about his fascinating books, Bill (about artist William Dobell), The Harbour which he wrote whilst kayaking around Sydney Harbour and his brand new release.

Price: $487 per person (twin room with ensuite).

Diamonds are a Girl ’s

Best Friend

15th - 17th May 2020

Date: Afternoon of Friday 15th – afternoon Sunday 17th May

Location: Berida Hotel, The Southern Highlands. Walking distance from Bowral train station.

Speakers:

Scott Whitmont; Scott Whitmont will talk about the fascinating story of jewels of the rich and famous including those belonging to Queen Elizabeth II, Elizabeth Taylor, the Duchess of Windsor, Grace Kelly and other famous jewels from history made by the likes of Cartier and Fabergé.

Dr. Vasudha Chandra; Dr Vasudha Chandra will give us a wonderful illustrated talk in which she will speculate on the medical diagnoses of a range of fictional charac- ters including some of the characters from A Christmas Carol, Jane Eyre, Little Women and Alice in Wonderland. What exactly were they ailing from?

19th - 21st June 2020

Date: Afternoon of Friday 19th – afternoon of Sunday 21st June

Location: The Hydro Majestic, The Blue Mountains.

Walking distance from Medlow Bath train station.

Speakers:

Walter Mason; Effervescent Walter Mason will speak about the funniest parts of books you may have missed from Love in a Cold Climate to My Family and Other Animals.

Lucinda Holdforth; Author Lucinda Holdforth will talk about her book True Pleasures and those fascinating women living in Paris – including Coco Chanel, Nancy Mitford, Marie Antoinette and Josephine Bonaparte.

Price: $434 per person for the weekend (twin share rooms with ensuites). All meals will be extra.

Walking on Sunshine

24th - 26th July 2020

Date: Afternoon of Friday 24th – afternoon of Sunday 26th July Location: QStation, Manly in Sydney

Speakers:

Charlotte Smith; Fascinating talk by author Charlotte Smith on Dior’s stunning garden and how it inspired the iconic House of Dior.

Ailsa Piper; Memoirist, award-winning playwright, some-time actor and director, and full-time walker Ailsa Piper, talks about her experiences walking The Camino Trails of Spain, Portugal, France and Italy. She will also discuss the questions which arose in her moving and provocative book, Sinning Across Spain.

Price: $418 per person (twin room with ensuites).

Breakfast included. Lunches and dinners will be extra.

Sweet Dreams

21st - 23rd August 2020

Date: Afternoon of Friday 21st – afternoon of Sunday 23rd August Location: Valle Laguna, The Hunter Valley

Speakers:

Shane Rozario; Professional photographer and founder of WeAreObservers will demonstrate and give us practical tips on how to get the best photos on our mobile phones as he takes us on a walking workshop.

Lauren Chater; Author and iced cookie guru, Lauren Chater, will give a talk on her newly-released historical fiction book Gulliver’s Wife followed by a cookie decorating demonstration (from her non-fiction book The Well Read Cookie) where we will all get to ice a cookie or two.

Price: $568 per person (twin room). This includes dinner on Friday and Saturday nights and breakfast ingredients. Lunches will be extra.

11th - 13th September 2020

Date: Afternoon of Friday 11th – afternoon of Sunday 13th September

Location: The Rift Coach House, The Southern Highlands. Walking distance from Bowral train station.

Speakers:

Lesley Workman; A workshop with professional calligrapher Lesley Workman on some simple techniques and ideas for you to create your own personalised gift tags and notes.

Silvana Griffin; Dynamic, former President of CWA Sydney City will give us a demonstration on some delicious easy bakes, followed by a scrumptious afternoon tea.

Price: $508 per person (twin room), $561 per person (single room). There are 4 single rooms available. Breakfast ingredients provided. Lunches and dinners will be extra.

16th - 18th October 2020

Date: Afternoon of Friday 16th – afternoon of Sunday 18th October Location: Château Elan, The Hunter Valley

Speakers:

Liz Hemphill; Liz Hemphill will speak about co-founding Herbie’s Spices in 1997, and her travels with Herbie to fascinating and far-flung parts of the world in search of spices and a better understanding of them. They have co- authored two books, Herbaceous and Spicery, combined into a single book in Sticks, Seeds, Pods and Leaves.

Sarah-Jane Galloway; Sarah-Jane Galloway will be travelling from Melbourne to share some clever tips, tricks and features she has found helpful when posting on her Instagram accounts. These tips will help you keep your feed bright and eye-catching! She will also explore how to find and follow your interests on Instagram.

Price: $454 per person (twin room with ensuite). All meals will be extra. Spa treatments available at extra cost.

Speakers:

Catherine du Peloux Menagé; Catherine du Peloux Menagé is a perfume consultant who writes on perfume and the sense of smell. She will be speaking on everything from the history of perfume to historical scents and stinks. Bring your favourite perfume along to find out more about it.

Sophie Hansen; Writer and 2016 Australian Rural Woman of the Year, Sophie Hansen, is travelling from her farm in Orange to speak to us about community connection and her gorgeous cookbook A Basket By The Door which inspires us to nourish, bolster, cheer and celebrate with family and friends.
