Archbishop’s Annual Appeal

Today's readings challenge us to be vigilant and have a sense of urgency about the kingdom of God, which is already in our midst. Jesus calls us to be alert to the opportunities to be his disciples, his witnesses, and share his love. Your participation in the Archbishop's Annual Appeal is an extension of our call to discipleship in our parish. To date, 34 Donors from St. Mary’s (49% of parishioners) have committed $6,980 towards our goal of $12,611. 50 Donors from Sts. Peter &

Paul (35% of parishioners) have committed $10,209 towards our goal of

$18,216. Every gift matters.

Due to the Thanksgiving holiday Liturgical Publications is requesting early publication submission. The deadline for the November 24 bulletin was noon Thursday, November 14, the deadline for the December 1 bulletin is noon Thursday, November 21 and the deadline for the December 8 bulletin is noon Tuesday, November 26.

The Silent Auction Committee wishes to thank all the parishioners who generously donated items to our event. The following businesses also contributed to the silent auction. Please support these donors as they have us.

Borsheim’s, The Rose Theater, Mama’s Pizza, Durham Museum, HyVee, Dinker’s Bar & Grill, Omaha Community Playhouse, Omaha Symphony, Lansky’s, Marathon Adventures, Gross High School, Omaha Storm Chaser’s, Kelly’s Carpet, Omaha Children’s Museum, Mercy High School, Cornhusker Auto Wash, Applebee’s, Culver’s, Cornhusker Beverage , Donohue’s Pub, Lauritzen Gardens, Darby’s, Family Fare, University of Nebraska, Fareway Grocery, Horseshoe Custom Tackle, Stoysich Meats, Taylor’s Flowers, Chick-Fil-A, Don & Millie’s, Village Inn, Eddie’s Catering, Security National Bank, Old Market Candy Shop, Wheatfield’s

St. Mary’s Parishioners surely came through when asked to make a donation toward the purchase of 20 new tables. The new tables amounted to $1600.

Over $3000 was donated, which was fantastic! The Fun(d) Committee gave the parish a check for $500 to help with the purchase of new tables, which we are truly grateful for. There was also an anonymous $1000 donation. The balance of the collection will be used to repair/replace possibly the convection oven and the ice machine, which were not currently in the parish budget. The parish is deeply appreciative for all the generosity parishioners showed toward this request.

SAVE THE DATE! Saints Peter and Paul Trivia Night.

Your help (men, women, students) is needed on Saturday November 30th at 9am at St Mary’s church to change the missals and Music edition books, changing altar cloths for Advent, plus any other minor work. Word of Life: November 17, 2019

“There can be no true democracy without a recognition of every person's dignity and without respect for his or her rights. Nor can there be true peace unless life is defended and promoted.”

Pope Saint John Paul II, Evangelium vitae, 90. © 1995 Libreria Editrice Vaticana. Used with permission.

Stewardship Reflection: November 17, 2019

“…Rather, we wanted to present ourselves as a model for you, so that you might imitate us.”

(2 Thessalonians 3:9)

Most people who live a grateful and generous lifestyle don’t go around bragging about it. But through their actions and words, others do take notice. They notice because of the joy and peace that results and other people desire this in their own life. Know that the way you live your life may be the only interaction others have with our Catholic faith.
