Set up a meeting with your director, and send your assessment to them beforehand to allow for preparation. At the meeting, discuss how the past year has gone and come to a consensus on your upcoming goals. Be open to conversation on your goals shifting to be in line with your
department or the direction of the diocese.

After your meeting, you may want to revise some of your assessment in light of the
feedback you have received. Spend time reflecting on your conversation and make any last revisions.

This assessment is to be used as a tool to track your goals through the year. Keep a copy for yourself and use it to help achieve your goals. In January you'll do a mid year review with your director on your goals.

S E T T I N G S M A R T G O A L S
Specific. Make sure your goals aren’t too broad or large, narrow them down to very specific
things.
Measurable. You can only know you reached your goal, if the goal has a measurable outcome. Be sure to include this information.
Agreed Upon. Work with your supervisor to be sure that your goals are aligned with the mission of the Diocese and the goals for your department.
Realistic. Aim high, but always remember your humanity! We all work with limited time and
resources, and unfortunately can’t do everything.
Be sure that your goals are within the scope of what you are able to do.
Time-Bound. Your goals should be set within a time frame. Set yourself some deadlines to keep yourself accountable to your goals.
