A Message from your District Directors

Kansas Monthly Newsletter

Greetings G.W.R.R.A. Family,

And WOW! Just like that we are already in SeptemberΘ it seems as if this year is flying by at a pretty good clip. But hey September usually means cooler temps right? Well let’s all hope so and cooler weather means giving the central air units a break and opening the win- dows and listening to the leaves rustle in the evening and night time breeze.

September usually brings much more comfortable temps for getting out and riding too͕ it’s all part of the yearly cycle that repeats itself every year. I know Sarah and I are both looking forward to it and we do hope all or most of you are too.

But with that being said please remember there are still some FUN activities planned for each of you at the District level here are just a few. There is a District fall ride in Septem- ber and then there is the District campout in October͘ oth of these activities are on the Kansas web site and the information as far as date’s Θtimes and scheduled activities can be viewed there. We do encourage each of you to take a look at them and make your plans to attend either one or both of them. Because it is a really small window of opportunity to get out and do it before Old Man Winter, shows up to spoil the outside FUN.

We look forward to seeing all of you soon but until then ride safe and have FUN!

Bill and Sarah Watts,

Kansas, District Directors,

It is September already. Happy Labor Day to everyone.

I am writing this as we prepare to leave for Wing Ding in less than a week. If you are making the trip I hope that it was a safe and enjoyable trip. It is difficult to offer pointers and suggestions to make the ride safer and more fun when this will not be published until most everyone has returned.

Also this has been the year for riding course range woes.

First we had the challenge of getting the range certified by Motorcycle Safety Foundation. It was not difficult just had to have the correct documentation and paperwork to get that done. Then there were cancellations for weather and low en- rollment.

We then rescheduled the Basic Rider Course 2 (formally

known as Experienced Rider Course) for September 28, 2019 on our newly certified range. Then around the first of August I was informed by the City of Wichita, who owns the parking lot that we use as a range that the lot was being evaluated for its stability as it pertains to weight limits and the lot is closed indefinitely.

Facing another cancellation I reached out to Joe Gattenby

who works for Motorcycle Rider Education, LLC and they gra-

ciously offered us the use of their MSF Range. I would like to

personally, on behalf of GWRRA Kansas, to thank them for

this great gesture.

(9)

We will now have the class on Sunday September 29, 2019. We will meet on the range at 11:30 AM for registration and hope to start the class by 12:00pm. We will meet at the range which is located on the south side of Towne West Square Shopping Center in West Wichita. The range is located behind Town and Country Restaurant 4702 West Kellogg Drive in Wichita. Please arrive promptly by 11:30 so that we can complete the paperwork and get the exercises under way. Please also make sure that you have lunch prior to arriving at the range. We will have breaks and Town and County allows us the use of their restrooms.

If you would like to attend this training please notify me as soon as possible so that I can get the proper paperwork prepared and know how many plan on attending. We are allowed to have 12 bikes participate in the training. Co-riders are welcome and encouraged to attend to ride and learn at no additional cost.

I am going to keep this fairly short this month. If you went to Nashville I hope you had a safe and enjoyable ride. If you could not attend I hope you at least took an opportunity to do a bit of riding.

Hello everyone.

By the time you all read this summer will be officially over for 2019. And what a strange year this has been weather wise. One week it’s cold, the next week it’s hot, then we have to deal with the rain and flooding jut to end up going back to the heat and then again the cool weather. Makes you wonder what this winter is going to be like.

So what can I tell you about what Chapter A did in August? We had our monthly meeting on the 8

th

and it’s always a fun time talking to everyone. Catching up with them and what they’ve been doing. If you’ve never come to one of the meetings they are held on the 2

nd

Thursday of the month. We meet at the Country Café on South Seneca. The meeting is @ 7:00 but come early for a meal and a chance to gossip J

The following week on the 17

th

Chapter P took a dinner ride down to Oxford Ks to the La Casita Mexican Restaurant and a few members from Chapter A joined in on the fun.

To quote Ms Debbie “Food was great! Homey atmosphere. Good Food…Good Friends”

On the 23rd a few of us got together to do some mini golf @ Towne West Mall. I’m sorry that I didn’t

post many pictures but the picture that I have aren’t very good because it’s hard to get a good shot with

only black light to light your way

(13)

Not everyone’s score was given to me but here are the ones I have for the 1

st

game. Dave Beranek-42,

Dana Beranek-47, Denny Chesnut-44, Kathy Chesnut-51, Mary Mazur-54, Debbie Gattenby-59, Chris

Grooms-50, Steve Bockhaus-54, Terri Bockhaus-49. As you can see we all did pretty good. We didn’t

keep score on our 2

nd

round of golf which means none of us will ever know if our game improved or

not…oh well. We all enjoyed pizza & pop in between rounds. I think a good time was had by all.

(14)

All that’s left for the month of August is Wing Ding. Don’t know how many of you will get a chance to go but if you do I would love to have you send me pictures and a brief story about your adventure that I can include in next month’s newsletter

Speaking of next month…what’s going on in September? I’m not showing much on the calendar but I’m sure something will pop-up starting with…

Blackberries, blackberries, yummy, yummy blackberries! It was time for Chapter B’s annual breakfast and blackberry run on July 27. Dave Aiken led the group to Miss B’s in Louisburg, KS for a yummy breakfast. Twenty plus people enjoyed the food and fellowship. Then due to the hot weather, only three ventured on to pick blackberries at Cy and Dee’s Blackberry Patch. The berries this year were big and sweet and hopefully the twelve quart that were put into the freezer will last until next summer’s bounty.

July 30 found a group of Chapter B members and friends headed to Sturgis, South Dakota. Allen Robertson organized the event and twenty-two riders and co-riders made the trip. After a long day of riding, the group stopped in Sidney, Nebraska for the night. July 31 was a day with fewer miles of riding with a short stop just north of Alliance, Nebraska to see Carhenge. Carhenge is a unique sculp- ture formed from vintage automobiles which have been painted gray to replicate England’s Stonehenge. Then it was on to the col- lege dorms at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City to get checked in.

Each day began with a wonderful breakfast buffet at the college and then it was time to ride. With the many choices in the area, it was a different destination every day. There was Sturgis, Deadwood, Lead, and Spearfish to the north, or Hill City, Custer State Park, Keystone, Mt. Rushmore, and Crazy Horse to the south. Smaller groups split off and rode.

August 1 was the monthly dinner ride. With many from the chapter in Sturgis, Joe Mag- nant led the ride to Johnny’s BBQ in Olathe. A good time was had by those in attendance.

The monthly meeting occurred on August 15 with thirty-two people at JT’s Bar and Grill.

Rick and Carolyn Stevens attended and awarded Joyce Dalsing her patch for reaching

Level 3 in the Rider Education Levels Program. It’s always great to have district staff

come north to see us. Trivia was on left-handedness. It proved to be rather difficult and

even our southpaws were stumped on many of the questions.

(16)

Members and friends attended the T-Bones baseball game on August 21. The chance of rain kept some away, but those who went had fun.

The weather was cooler than the past several years and we had a good time conversing and cheering on the team as the T-Bones won the game.

WHY SHOULD YOU CALL LAW TIGERS?

We get it. Most people don’t want to involve a lawyer when they get hit on the road. Maybe the damage wasn’t that bad, and you feel fine.

Here’s the reality…

Without representation, there are no guarantees that you’ll get a fair shake.

Hospitals, medical providers, and insurance companies fight to make a profit from the worst day of your life. Without the right motorcycle lawyer on your side you will be the only loser in that fight.

WHAT LAW TIGERS MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT ATTORNEYS DO FOR THEIR CLIENTS

At Law Tigers, our main focus is to assist in the prevention of motorcycle accidents, and to promote motorcycle safety. However, when accidents do occur, a Law Tigers motorcycle accident attorney is there to assist you. Available for free consultations (at our office, hospital, or your home), we provide clients with aggressive, experienced repre- sentation. As motorcyclists ourselves, we understand the challenges that you re going through and are prepared to as- sist you every step of the way. Because we are committed to helping our fellow motorcycle riders, we work on a con- tingency basis. There are no up-front charges, and our motorcycle accident attorney will only receive legal fees upon conclusion of your motorcycle accident case.

MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT REPRESENTATATION: IT’S THE ONLY THING WE DO

If you have been injured as the result of another motorist’s reckless, negligent, or careless driving, you may be entitled to compensation for any damages you suffer. A Law Tigers motorcycle accident attorney can help you get your life back on track and help you obtain the maximum settlement possible.

Find a motorcycle accident attorney near you or call Law Tigers, toll-free, at 1-888-863-7216. Our lawyers are avail- able—24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO HAVE LAW TIGERS REPRESENT YOU?

Every attorney-client relationship with our personal injury lawyers begins with a free consultation. Once we have evaluated your motorcycle injury case and determined it is viable, we charge no fee. That means client do not pay at- torney fees unless we obtain compensation on their claim, either through a settlement or a trial.

MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT REPRESENTATION: It’s the only thing we do

Manufactured 100% in Tennessee, we make and sale new and pre-owned trailers for motorcycle, ATV, Razor, Jeep, Mini-Cooper, Smart Car, and other vehicles.

RackUp trailers is your premier source for motorcycle, utility vehicle, and small vehicle trailers. Why choose Rack Up? Rack Up trailers were designed by people who use them. Tracing our roots over a decade ago, we quickly noticed that the trailers on the market had suspension issues causing the trailer to bounce and handle poorly. We also noticed most trailers were set at a price point that were not feasible for a single transaction.

We set out to change that. First we worked with the suspension and developed an adjustable air suspension that does not bounce. Second we worked on the price point. Our approach allowed us to save money but also allows you to build your trailer buying the options you want as you go.

Our experience on the road combined with our engineering and machining specialties allowed us to make a trailer far superior to any on the market today. We are confident that our trailer rises far to the top among the competition.
