a. Unless otherwise specified herein, insulation, jackets, facings and adhes ives used to adhere jacket or facing to insulation, including fitting insulation and butt strips, shall have com posite noncom bustible f ire and sm oke hazard system rating and label as tested b y ASTM E84, NFPA 255 and UL 723 not exc eeding Flam e Spread 25, Fu el Contributed 50, Sm oke Developed 50. Accessories such as adhesives, m astics, cem ents, tapes, cloth, and finishes shall have sam e ratings. Each product or its shipping carton shall bear Underwriters label indicating f lam e and sm oke ratings do not exceed above criteria.

(c) Insulation thicknesses scheduled are minimum; increase as required to comply with applicable local and state codes. (Listed minimum meets or exceeds ASHRAE Standard 90.1 Table 6.8.3A and 6.8.3B.-2010 edition) (d) High Activity Areas are defined as areas with high traffic or activities that could damage insulation. This includes piping within 8 feet of a walkable surface.
(e) Low Activity Areas are defined as areas with low traffic or limited activities where there is a low risk of damage to insulation. This includes piping work that is concealed from view above hung ceilings, within walls, within pipe or duct shafts.
