CA Mainframe Suite for IBM Rational Development and Test Environment for System z
Challenge
CA Technologies customers want to capitalize on the benefits of the IBM Rational Development and Test Environment for System z (IBM RD&T) environment by having the flexibility to select and extend the use of their existing mainframe software.
Opportunity
CA Technologies is offering our mainframe customers the ability to purchase a seat license for select the mainframe software they already own, and run it in IBM’s RD&T environment.
CA Mainframe Suite for IBM Rational Development and Test Environment for System z (CA Mainframe Suite for IBM RD&T) is a license right for approved products that customers may find useful in this test-only environment. The offering applies to a range of products from development, test, and change management products, to security products, databases and supporting database products, and various systems software products that can be tested, explored or developed in this environment. This offering is limited to development and testing of software and applications that run on IBM z/OS.
Benefits
The IBM RD&T feature provides systems programmers and application developers access to a segregated z/OS environment for installing and testing z/OS software and for building and testing z/OS applications. This creates an ideal environment for utilizing and exploiting suitable software products.
CA Mainframe Suite for IBM RD&T provides the means to utilize separately purchased software from CA Technologies on the IBM RD&T and in doing so helps to:

– Free up mainframe development MIPS for production capacity – Eliminate differentials between distributed/mainframe development • Minimize risk

Terms and conditions
CA Mainframe Suite for IBM RD&T license rights authorize you to use CA Software for which you are separately licensed only in the IBM RD&T environment for non-production purposes. During the term of this license, you must also be licensed to use the IBM RD&T environment. Use of the CA Software in any other environment or in the IBM RD&T environment for production purposes is expressly prohibited. This restriction does not change your existing license rights to use the CA Software in a production environment. During the term of this license, if you license additional CA Software, these license rights apply to such subsequently licensed CA Software.
The license rights are provided on a “per Seat” basis. “Seat” means a single person or identity whose access and use rights can be authenticated, authorized, or administered, or who has the ability to view content aggregated or managed by the CA Software. In general, a Seat shall not be counted more than once or on a concurrent (logged-in) basis. One Seat license shall authorize you to use any of the CA Software for which you are separately licensed in the IBM RD&T environment. The term of this license (the “Term”) is the lesser of: (i) one (1) year; (ii) the term end date for the applicable separately licensed CA Software; or (iii) the term end date for your use of the IBM RD&T environment. Any termination under clauses (ii) or (iii) immediately above shall not result in refund of any license fees paid by you under your license for these rights. Subject to the limitations set forth in clauses (i) (ii) and (iii) immediately above, any renewal or extension of the license term for the separately licensed CA Software or the IBM RD&T environment, as the case may be, shall continue the Term of this license right for the period identified above. If you have multiple CA Software products with different term end dates, the license rights granted under this license will terminate as to each specific
CA Software product in the lesser of one (1) year or when the applicable term license for such CA Software ends. Termination these license rights shall not terminate your license to any CA Software product.
