PURPOSE

This document establishes a transfer articulation agreement between Jamestown Community College (JCC)

and Alfred State College (ASC). Its purpose is to afford students the opportunity to pre-plan their college

degrees, and to facilitate the transfer process from the Associate in Science (A.S.) Computer Science,

Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) Computer Information Systems, and A.A.S. Information Technology

degree programs at JCC to the Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech.) Information Security & Assurance, B. Tech.

Information Technology – Applications Software Development, B. Tech. Information Technology – Network

Administration, and B. Tech. Information Technology – Web Development degree programs at Alfred State

College.

GENERAL GUARANTEE OF OPPORTUNITY TO GRADUATE

Students who transfer from Jamestown Community College with at least 54 credits from the courses listed

on pages 4 thru 7 as requirements for the B. Tech in Information Security & Assurance, B. Tech. Information

Technology – Applications Software Development, B. Tech. Information Technology – Network

Administration, or B. Tech. Information Technology – Web Development degree program at Alfred State

College are guaranteed the opportunity to earn the bachelor’s degree with four semesters of normal

coursework at Alfred State College.

TRANSFER, RESIDENCY, AND GRADUATION INFORMATION

The chart on page 3 contains a detailed listing of JCC/ASC course equivalencies related to the programs

included in this agreement. The following four pages depict how JCC coursework can fulfill the curricula

requirements of each of the four B. Tech. programs offered at ASC. The maximum transferrable credits

from JCC into each of those programs is shown.

The following should be noted:

* All upper-level courses (5000 and above) must be taken through Alfred State College

* Alfred State College accepts transfer credits only, not the course grades.

* Grades must be “C” or better to transfer.

* General Education Electives need not be taken in the order indicated or those specific categories.

* When a JCC course carries more credits than the equivalent ASC course, the excess will transfer as

lower-level elective credit.

* Students must hold a 2.5 average in courses taken within the major at Alfred State College to

be permitted to take the internship.

Graduation requirements for the B. Tech. programs included in this agreement are as follows:

* 125 credit hours inclusive of physical education

* 39 credit hours in major field required courses

* 24 credit hours in professional courses

* 18 credit hours in core concentration

* 30 credit hours in liberal arts / general education courses

* A 2.5 GPA in the major to be eligible for the required internship

* 8 SUNY approved general education areas
