Very few young Angus forward but those here were hotly contested. 10mo Angus steers from the Evans family found good support to £650 with heifers from the same home to £465. Messrs Boyce’s 13mo steers sold well away to £662. Well fleshed steers from Trinity Farm found excellent support to £795 with heifers rocketing to £670 (11 – 12mo). Yet again a storming trade for all grades here at Frome, we look forward to seeing you here.

HEREFORD

Plenty of demand and trade for all the Herefords as mentioned in the Organic section. Younger Herefords were wanted with commercial selling well throughout the day. P J Hulbert saw their Red Hereford 11mo steers to £808 and heifers to £648. Stretton & Partners 10mo Steers to £720 and heifers saw greater demand at £770. Trevor Witchard saw his journey from the Isle Of Wight rewarded with 13mo steers at an amazing £1022 with heifers at £872! Forward Hereford steers were well over £1000 with HME Gulliford at £1120 and C G Pulsford at £1255. Also, from the Pulsford family were their strong quality heifers at £1100, closely followed again by the Gulliford family at £1040. Well done to all who supported today’s sale.

FRIESIAN

Friesians still in hot demand. Topping today was Messrs Pulsford whose steers roared to £1098 (20mo), which were closely followed by the Masters family at £1040. 17mo steers from PH Creed & Son sold well to £840. Very few younger sorts available, but again 17mo dearly sought to £870 from RH & AE Mayo & family.

Next week Friday 26th March to include:

140 Outlying Friesian steers (18 – 24mo) from one farm, outwintered on turnips.
