required to develop strategies to manage organisational systems that ensure products & services are delivered & maintained to standards agreed to by the organisation. This unit focuses on the planning that is required to meet internal & external customer requirements, methods for ensuring delivery of quality services & products, and the monitoring, adjustment & review procedures associated with quality customer service.

BSBFIM501A Manage budgets & financial plans – This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills & knowledge required to undertake financial management within a work team in an organisation. The emphasis includes planning & implementing financial management approaches, supporting team members whose role involves aspects of financial operations, monitoring & controlling finances, as well as reviewing & evaluating effectiveness of financial management processes which are in line with the financial objectives of both the work team as well as the organisation.

BSBINM501A Manage an information or knowledge management system – This unit describes the performance

outcomes, skills & knowledge required to organise learning to use an information or knowledge management system, & to manage the use of this system. This unit focuses on the organisation of learning to use information or knowledge management systems, the management of the use of these systems, as well as the review procedures associated with the use of information or knowledge management systems.

BSBLED501A Develop a workplace learning environment – This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills & knowledge required to encourage & support the development of a learning environment in which work & learning come together. Particular emphasis is placed on the development of strategies to

facilitate & promote learning, as well as the methods used to monitor & improve learning performance. This unit focuses on the ways to create learning opportunities, identification of learning needs, the importance of developing strategies to facilitate & promote learning, as well as

the encouragement required to establish a learning culture within the organisation.

BSBMGT406A Plan & monitor continuous improvement – This unit examines continuous improvement systems & processes within teams & across the organisation. The unit encompasses attention to monitoring & reviewing performance as well as examining the ways in which customer service is improved through continuous improvement mechanisms & techniques. Finally, the unit explores the areas for further improvement arising from continuous improvement processes.

BSBMGT502B Manage people performance – This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills & knowledge

required to manage the performance of staff who report to them directly. Development of key result areas & key performance indicators & standards, coupled with regular & timely coaching & feedback, provide the basis for performance management. This unit focuses on the allocation of work duties, risk analysis, assessment of work performance, providing feedback, on-the-job coaching requirements, as well as the process for managing the follow-up process when counselling individuals, coaching individuals, reinforcing excellence, or terminating individuals.

BSBMGT515A Manage operational plan – This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills & knowledge required to develop & monitor implementation of the operational plan to provide efficient & effective

workplace practices within the organisation’s productivity & profitability plans. This unit focuses on the development of an operational plan, the components that are required for an operational plan, planning & managing the resources required to ensure physical resources & services are acquired, as well as monitoring & reviewing the performance of the operational plan.

BSBMGT516C Facilitate continuous improvement – This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills & knowledge required to lead & manage continuous improvement systems & processes. Particular emphasis is placed on the development of systems & on the analysis of information to monitor & adjust performance strategies, & on methods required to manage opportunities for further

improvements. This unit focuses on the strategies required to lead continuous improvement systems & processes, the requirement for monitoring & adjusting performance strategies, as well as the procedures required to manage opportunities for further improvement.

BSBWHS501A Ensure a safe workplace – This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills & knowledge

required to establish, maintain & evaluate the organisation’s occupational health & safety (OHS, also known as workplace health & safety – WHS) policies, procedures & programs in the relevant work area in accordance with the OHS / WHS legal requirements. This unit focuses on the establishment

BSBPMG510A Manage projects – This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills & knowledge required to

manage a straightforward project or a section of a larger project. This unit focuses on the methods for defining a project, developing a project plan, administering & monitoring the project, completion procedures on finalisation of the project, as well as the review procedures for the project.

BSBRSK501B Manage risk – This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills & knowledge required to manage

risks in a range of contexts across the organisation or for a specific business unit or area. This unit focuses on the requirements associated with establishing a risk context, identifying & analysing risks, as well as the process for selection & implementing treatments.

BSBWOR501B Manage personal work priorities & professional development – This unit describes the performance

outcomes, skills & knowledge required to manage own performance & professional development. Particular emphasis is placed on setting & meeting priorities, analysing information & using a range of strategies to develop further competence. This unit focuses on establishing personal work goals, setting & meeting own work priorities, as well as on developing & maintaining professional

competence.

BSBWOR502B Ensure team effectiveness – this unit describes the performance outcomes, skills & knowledge

required to facilitate all aspects of teamwork within the organisation. Particular emphasis is placed on the leadership role within the development of team plans, leading & facilitating team work & actively engaging with the management of the organisation. This unit focuses on the establishment of a team performance plan, developing & facilitating team cohesion, facilitating team work, & liaising with stakeholders.

performance outcomes, skills & knowledge required to develop & monitor the processes for managing identified breaches in the compliance requirements of an organisation. The unit focuses on

developing procedures for responding to internal or external breaches of internal or external compliance requirements, monitoring the method for adherence to compliance requirements,

The unit emphasises the requirement to ensure the diversity policy is understood & implemented by relevant parties & that efforts to foster diversity in the work team are encouraged. Finally, the unit examines the requirements for promoting the benefits of diversity in the workplace

require to manage a franchise operation. This unit focuses on establishing & implementing the procedures for managing a franchise operation, as well as the methods for reviewing the operation of the franchise.

BSBINN502A Build & sustain an innovative work environment – This unit explores the requirement for leadership by example within innovative frameworks & the requirement for leaders to continually self-evaluate their own approaches to ensure consistency within the project or organisational context. The unit examines work practices that support innovation as well as methods for promoting & supporting innovation within the workplace. Finally, the unit considers the ways in which learning opportunities may be availed to help develop other skills that may be required for innovation.

outcomes, skills & knowledge required to develop & implement a workplace sustainability policy, including the modification of the policy to suit changed circumstances.
