TOPICS AT A GLANCE
DEALING WITH GRIEF
We are born to life — but life on this earth is not eternal. How do we live the final journey? How do we care for the ones we love in their final days?
What does the Bible say about life and death? How can we find comfort and healing during these challenging seasons?
Rev Ong Chooi Seng
A PASTOR’S PERSPECTIVE

ON FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS
It is a pastor’s privilege to journey with believers through major milestones in life — birth, marriage and death.
However, when it comes to preparing to conduct funerals, many may be inadequately trained to ensure a dignified send off that ministers to the grieving. Topics include the service order, the message, pitfalls, and others.

GOOD GRIEF
— A CHRISTIAN PERSPECTIVE
AND VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Can grief over bereavement be good? Is grief a process? or is it about the person? What does the Bible say about good grief as a process of emotional healing, psychological
development and spiritual growth?
Understanding these Biblical teachings is essential for our personal well-being and our ability to care for others well.
Rev Lee Fatt Ping
UNDERSTANDING OTHER RITUALS
Singapore is a pluralistic society with different religious
identities. Families and church leaders may be confronted with understanding what other
religious practices entails. What are the religious, cultural and superstitious funeral practices adopted by different ethnic groups?

INSURANCE CLAIMS AND NOMINATIONS
There are millions of dollars of unclaimed death pay-outs each year due to forgotten policies and misplaced policy documents. What can surviving loved ones do to trace and submit a claim? How can we structure our own
insurance policies to ensure that our loved ones receive the
financial benefits as we intend?

PLANNING AHEAD
— LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS
Confusion and distress often arises when family members are left figuring out what to do when a loved one passes away or is not well enough to manage his/her own affairs.
You can help to reduce the uncertainties faced by your loved ones by making sure that suitable arrangements have been put in place for the management of your assets and affairs before life takes an unexpected turn.
Understanding the legal options and implications also helps ensure that your assets and affairs are handled the way you want. This presentation will provide an overview on:
(1) Advance Medical Directive (2) Lasting Power of Attorney (3) Intestate Law of Succession (4) Making a Will (5) Application for Grant of Probate / Letters of Administration.

WHAT TO DO WHEN DEATH OCCURS
Death occurs in many ways. Thus, there are different modes of handling and documentation in each instance of death that not many are aware of. This talk covers the guidelines and
procedures with different death scenarios.
THE POWER OF SELF-HELP GROUPS Inaugurated in August 1998,
Wicare Support Group is a community for the widows and the fatherless, providing a safe space for bonding, caring and healing. The presentation focuses on the
uniqueness of the self-help groups and how it assists the widows and the fatherless in their time of need. The sharing illustrates how a supportive community help its
