Using Atlas Import Wizard
Use the Atlas Import Wizard to create media plans when you have large campaigns or
campaigns that use many different URLs and ads. This job aid covers the basic information you
will need to get started with the Atlas Import Wizard. For more detailed information, see
ʺAbout Atlas Import Wizardʺ in Media Console Help.
Before you start
You must install the Import Wizard, and, if needed, Microsoft .NET Framework.
• The Import Wizard is available at
http://atlas.atlassolutions.com/atlas/bin/import/importinstall.msi
• .NET Framework is available from the Microsoft Download Center at
http://www.microsoft.com/beta/downloads/Default.aspx
Important
If you already have the necessary templates, skip the following section.
Create an Import Template
1. After you have installed the Atlas Import Wizard, log on.
2. Click Create Import Template.
3. On the menu, select one of the following import template types:
• Action Management
• Ad Assignment, Ad and Creative Creation
• Ad Update
• Category List
• Create Placement
• Media Creation
• Add Placements to Buy
4. Click Create and then click Save.
The file is saved as a .csv (comma separated values) file.
After you have created your template, open the spreadsheet editor and enter your information.
The wizard can import either Microsoft Excel (XLS) or CSV files. If you are not using Excel, you
should save the file in CSV format. For additional information, see Media Console Help.
Notes
• If the file name of an uploaded creative contains a space, Media Console replaces
it with an underscore.
• Entries for Atlas Imports must be exact, with the correct information in the
correct columns. Any errors will cause the import to fail.
• Duplicate rows are reported as an error and cause the import to fail.
Import a worksheet
1. Open the Import Wizard.
2. Select Import Existing Worksheet and click Next.
3. Type the worksheet name or click Browse to open.
4. Select the import template type from the list and click Next.
The import process starts.
5. If you receive validation errors, you can do the following:
a. Without closing the wizard, open your worksheet, correct any errors, and save
the file.
b. In the wizard, click Validate.
The worksheet is revalidated.
6. Click Import. If there are not any validation errors, or when you have fixed them all, the
import button will be active.
Tip
During the import process, the worksheet is validated again. The first validation
checks to make sure the worksheet has the correct cells filled in. The second
validation checks to make sure the information in the cells is correct.
7. If there are any errors at this stage, you can do the following:
a. Fix the errors in the worksheet and then save.
b. In the Wizard, click Validate and then click Import again.
Tip
During this validation step, the wizard stops if it finds an error and displays the
information about that error. It only displays one error line number at a time.
After you have fixed the error, you may want to check your spreadsheet for
similar errors.
8. When the import has been successfully completed, you can select Import/Create another
spreadsheet or click Finish to exit the wizard.
Notes
• You cannot activate placements by using the wizard; you must do that in the
Media Console interface.
• The import wizard does not warn you of potential problems, as Media Console
does. For example, you will not be alerted if you do one of the following:
o
Remove the last ad from a placement. (Make sure to set up default ads!)
o
Assign a 120x120 ad to a 468x60 placement.

CA Must start with http or https. For multi‐ click‐through URL ads, include one row per click‐through ad. Required Clickthrough URL (Multi‐click Ads) A, R, U Use either Creative Description plus Clickthrough URL OR Ad Tag alone to identify the ad for assignment. For multi‐ click‐through ads you can use the creative description plus ONE of the click‐through URLS. Clickthrough URL column must exist if you specify Ad Tag, but it may be left blank.Event Description CA Optional
Note
If your import template includes a CA‐A command that does not include an ad tag, imports will
check the database for existing ads that use that creative and click‐through URL:
• If an ad with the creative and click‐through URL does not already exist, import will
create the ad and assign it to the placement.
• If an ad with the creative and click‐through URL does already exist, import will find the
existing ad and assign it to the placement.
• If more than one ad with the same creative and click‐through URL already exists, then
the CA command will fail and report an error that there are multiple ads using the same
creative and click‐through URL. The error message will tell you to use the ad tag to
identify the specific ad to assign. You will need to update the spreadsheet with the
correct ad tag and change the command to A.
If your import includes a CA‐A command that does include an ad tag, imports will always
attempt to create the ad, then assign it. If the ad tag already exists, the command will fail since
you cannot create an ad with a duplicate ad tag. If this is the case, try it again using the A
command by itself.
