Spectre Router/Network Gateway Security

Firewall

The network gateway’s firewall can be configured to allow only specified hosts to access the router and internal LAN network. It can also be configured to allow only the traffic on a certain IP port to pass through to the internal network. Up to 8 filters can be defined.

NAT Configuration

NAT (Network address Translation / Port address Translation - PAT) is a method of sharing a single external IP address among many internal hosts. It also helps prevent unauthorized access to the internal network. Up to 16 NAT rules may be defined

VPN Tunneling

IPSec, OpenVPN, PPTP, L2TP, EasyVPN, GREAuthentication by certificates, shared keys, name/password

OpenVPN Tunneling

OpenVPN is a protocol which is used to create a secure connec-tion between two LANs. Up to 2 OpenVPN tunnels may be cre-ated.

Ipsec Tunneling

IPsec is a protocol which is used to create a secure connection between two LANs. Up to 4 IPsec tunnels may be created.

GRE Tunneling

GRE is a protocol which is used to create an unencrypted con-nection between two LANs. Up to 4 GRE tunnels may be created.

L2PT Tunneling

L2TP is a protocol which is used to create an unencrypted con-nection between two LANs. One L2TP tunnel may be created.

PPTP Tunneling

PPTP is a protocol which is used to create a secure connection between two LANs. One PPTP tunnel may be created.

COST EFFICIENT

Wzzard Edge Nodes connect to existing sensors. and give those sensors wireless mesh networking capability. They require no external power source. Battery life can be measured in years.

Wzzard Edge Nodes can be mounted magnetically or with the use of their mounting ears. They are easy to deploy, easy to configure and easy to use.

RELIABLE

The Wzzard platform uses mesh networking and time-synchronized channel hopping to provide up to 99.999% connectivity, even in the most demanding RF environments.

SCALABLE

New Wzzard nodes and their attached sensors may be added to the network at any time. The SmartMesh IP network will dynamically self-configure as new nodes are added or removed. This is a function of the mesh network itself, and does not need to be controlled by the network gateway.

Each Wzzard node has routing capability, so nodes need not be within wireless range of the gateway. They need only be within wireless range of fellow Wzzard nodes.

SECURE

The Wzzard Intelligent Edge Nodes and the Specter Network Gateway communicate via SmartMesh IP. SmartMesh IP has built-in encryption, and it lets users determine how often the network should change keys. It includes end-to-end encryption, message integrity checking, and device authentication.

The Spectre Network Gateway places the SmartMesh IP network behind a firewall. If connecting via the cellular data networks, the Spectre Network Gateway lets users use VPN tunneling, which makes the cellular systems as secure as proprietary infrastructure.

Installing the Wzzard Edge Node to report system flow levels makes it esy for a wastewater plant to meet Environmental Protection, Water Pollution 305 Monitoring and Reporting and 304 Effluent Standards.

Wzzard uses the lightweight, publish/subscribe messaging transport MQTT protocol for sensor communications. MQTT is an extremely simple messaging protocol created for M2M and IoT applications over wireless networks. Because of its efficient distribution of information to single or multiple receivers, low power usage and minimized data packets, it is ideal for mobile or remote locations.

SmartMesh IP is based upon the wireless IEEE 802.15.4e standard. SmartMesh IP creates full-mesh networks, sometimes referred to as ”mesh-to-the-edge” networks. SmartMesh IP networks use a ”triple-play” of wireless mesh technologies - time diversity, frequency diversity, and physical diversity - to assure reliability, resiliency, scalability, power source flexibility, and ease-of-use. At the core, the technology is an intelligent mesh network with advanced algorithms and power saving technologies that enable powerful features not available from other WSN providers including:

Wzzard Intelligent Edge Nodes connect your sensors to wireless SmartMesh IP networks. They accommodate external sensors with a variety of interface options that include general purpose analog inputs, digital input/output and thermocouple.

The Wzzard Intelligent Edge Node collects data from the sensor, then organizes and transforms that data into useful and relevant information easing the processing burden on upstream resources. Configurable by smart phone or tablet, nodes can minimize data traffic by only communicating exceptions to specified threshold or pre-determined alert levels. If the gateway is using the cellular network, this reduces the cost of the data plan. Configuration options can also include geo-location, device name and uptime to format data for easier analytics. With the use of control time synchronization, the Intelligent Edge Node can be programmed to maximize battery life, exceeding 5 years for many applications.
