Lenten Fish Fry “To Go” Dinners
This year we will have our Lenten Fish Fry dinners
“ToGo”. This year’s menu includes a bag of fried fish,
FFs & hushpuppies w/ a side of green beans, rotini
pasta & coleslaw. The cost is $10 for adults & $5 for
children 4-12. Pre-order your dinner by emailing
Michael Lafferty (laff@bellsouth.net) the quantity of
dinners you want to order each week by Wednesday.
Dinners are available for pick up
on Fridays at 5:30- 6:00. Pay when you pick up.

All parishioners are encouraged to join us in praying the Stations of Cross every
Friday of Lent after Adoration at 5:00pm.
Spiritual reflection via the Stations of the Cross is a wonderful way to prepare for the celebration of Easter
Sunday and the entire Easter Season.

I would like to share with you an excerpt from Dr. Edward Sri’s book Who Am I To Judge. This section
can be found in pages 54-56 of the work. Check out the next page for more information about our
Zoom sessions with Dr. Edward Sri. "A model for true freedom can be found in Frank Capra’s classic film, It’s a Wonderful Life. One thing
that makes this story so inspiring to generation after generation is that it showcases ordinary, everyday heroism—a heroism everyone can relate to. Unlike most heroes today, the beloved main character, George Bailey, find his adventures not in sports or on the battlefield in
some foreign land. Rather, George discovers his great adventure in the middle of his normal daily life with his
family, friends, and community in the small town of Bedford Falls.” George certainly had dreams full of
travel, excitement, university studies, and seeing the world, but those plans gave way one by one to a deeper sense of responsibility to his family and community. As his life goes on, he starts to feel frustration and regret as he watches those he grew up with living their dreams while he remains in Bedford Falls. When tragedy strikes
and he is in danger of going to prison because of someone else’s mistake, he despairs and considers suicide, wondering if his life has meaning and whether all
his sacrifices were worth it. Just at that moment, his guardian angel, Clarence, appears to help him see the profound meaning of his life again. Clarence does this by
showing him what Bedford Falls would be like if George had never been born. George realizes the enormous gap
left by his absence—and just how wonderful his life really is. And his life is, in fact, wonderful precisely because he chose to live for something much bigger than himself and the pursuit of his own interests. He used his freedom to live for others. In the words of author Willian
Kilpatrick: The life of George Bailey is a hero’s story. He is, moreover; a hero we can readily identify with. His
heroism is the heroism of sustained commitment in the face of unlooked-for burdens and unforeseen turns of fate. His heroism, like that of most adults, consists in refusing the temptation to be free and uncommitted.” Only when we give up our freedom to do whatever we selfishly want all the time (modern freedom), do we discover a greater freedom: the freedom to love. Only in
relationships of sustained commitment will we find our happiness."

Jesus showed us that suffering can beappropriate, even redemptive – if we suffer for the right reasons. God does not want us to suffer in order to please Him. Suffering for its
own sake is not meritorious – we should suffer for those we love, because we love them. Christ
our Savior, teach us to suffer for the right reasons – to suffer for those we love. Amen.

Pro-Life Mass
We would like to invite you to join us for the Diocesan Pro-Life Mass on the Feast of Annunciation,
March 25th at 7:00 PM at Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
March 25 the Feast of the Annunciation, is the day of an international pro-life celebration: the International Day of the Unborn Child. Established by St. Pope John Paul II to coincide with and honor the Feast of the Annunciation, the
pope wanted people in every part of the world to celebrate the gift of life by remembering all unborn human life. The celebrant is Most Reverend Bishop David P. Talley.
