OLLABORATION• Supervised more than 100 student research projects. Each project was prepared by a graduating senior as a “thesis” during a year-long period.
• Created and administered a graduate-level service-learning program working with refugees and members of underrepresented groups
• Supervised a service-learning project with the Internal Revenue Service's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, preparing tax returns for a diverse group of low-income and non-English speaking people. Assisted some 350 migrant farm laborers, a 250% one year increase; supervised 50 student volunteers and language interpreters, a 500% one year increase; developed community partnerships with eight organizations, a 400% one year increase. Received the IRS “Spirit of America” award.
