* As of 20 September 2020, 68,820 confirmed COVID 19 cases,
1096
deaths and28,314
recoveries have been reported in Ethiopia.* The national surveillance completeness and timeliness rate were 94% for each.
* Dengue fever outbreak is ongoing in Dire Dawa City, A total of 329 Cases without deaths were reported as of 19 September 2020.
* Heavy and prolonged rain led to flooding across the country, Nearly 1,017854 people affect
-ed and 292,863 people are displac-ed from June to September 2020.
* Cholera outbreak is continued in SNNPR, Sidama and Oromia regions during the week.
* Measles outbreak continued in Oromia and Amhara region during the reporting week.
* A total of 22,855 confirmed and clinical malaria cases and 2 deaths reported during week.
* A total of 5,796 SAM cases and 2 death reported, showed 221(4%) cases decrement as com
-pared to previous week.
* A total of 19 Maternal deaths reported during this week, showed 4(17%) decrement com
-pared to previous week.
* A total of 97 Perinatal deaths were reported nationally during the reporting week.
* A total of 107 suspected rabies cases without death were reported during the week.
* A total of 74 suspected meningitis cases without death was reported during the week, showed 4(5%) case increment as compared to last week.
* Following the detected Guinea worm diseases last week, response activities strengthened.
* In response to cVDPV2, mOPV2 vaccination planned for the upcoming 02-05 October 2020.
* The response to Cholera, Guinea worm, Dengue fever, Measles and AFP/Polio outbreak should be linked to existing COVID-19 activities in order to use resources efficiently.
* Flooding plays an important role in the spread of infectious diseases and there is high risk of COVID 19, Cholera, Other AWD and Vector born diseases due to deteriorated sanitary condition in flood affected areas.

Dengue fever (DF):
Outbreak is ongoing in Dire Dawa City, Atotal of 329 Cases without death were reported as of 19 September 2020. Further epidemiological ivestigation and response to the outbreak is ongoing by Dire Dawa city Health bureau and team deployed from EPHI/PHEM.See figure below.
Flood:
Heavy and prolonged rain led to flooding inAfar, Oromia, Gambella,SNNP, Somali and Amhara regions.
NDRMC report indicated, Nearly 1,017854 people affected and 292,863 people are displaced from June to September 2020. There is high risk of COVID 19, Cholera, Other AWD and Vector borne diseases due to deteriorated sanitary condition. According to National metrology agency weather forcast for September heavy raing is expected to continue in the country.Guine Worm: No additional Guinea Worm disease detected during the week. Following the detected Human case of Guinea Worm disease on 08 September 2020, response activities like, strengthened Active Surveillance all the refugee
camps and affected woreda, Abate larvicide treatment has been applied in all known eligible ponds, assessing Filter utili
-zation practice and providing filter is also ongoing.

AFP: A total of 6 suspected AFP cases were reported during the week. Highest 3(50%) suspected cases were reported from Oromia region folllowed by 2(33%) from Amhara and 1 suspected cases was from Somali region.
Following the detection two cVDPV2 in Oromia region, mOPV2 vaccination planned for the upcoming 02-05 October 2020 to interrupt cVDPV2 transmission.
Cholera: is ongoing in SNNPR and Oromia region, a total of 140 suspected Cholera cases and 1 death was reported during the week. The highest 75(54%) were reported from Sidama region followed by 61(44%) were from SNNP region. See below Figure.

Measles:During the week, a total of 50 suspected measles cases without death were reported, which showed 3(6%) cases decrement as compared to last week. The highest 35(70%) suspected measles cases were from Oromia region followed by 14(28%) was reported from Amhara region. See figure below.

Perinatal Death: A total of 97 Perinatal deaths were reported nationally during this week. which showed 30(24%) Perinatal deaths decrement as compared to last week.
Highest 37(38%) deaths were from Amhara region. fol-lowed by 30(31%) of deaths were from Addis Ababa city.
Maternal Death: A total of 19 maternal deaths were reported nationally during this week, showed 17%(4 maternal deaths) decreament as compared to the previous week. Highest 9(47%) maternal deaths were from Oromia region fol-lowed by 8(42%) were reported from Amhara region. See figure below.
Rabies: Nationally

suspected rabies cases without death were reported during the week. Highest 40(37%) suspected rabies cases were reported from Amhara re-gion followed by 29(27%) were from Addis Ababa city.Neonatal tetanus (NNT): Four suspected NNT cases withou death were reported during the week. Of 4 cases, 3 were from Tigray region and 1 was from Oromia and Gambella region.
Anthrax: A total of 12 suspected Anthrax cases without death were reported during the week. Highest 7(58%) suspected cases were reported from Amhara region followed by 5(42%) were reported from Tigray region.

Scabies: A total of 3,178 scabies case were reported during the week, showed 729(20%) cases decrement as compared to the last week. Highest 1309(42%) scabies cases were from Amhara followed by 953(30%) cases were from Oromia and 316(10%) from Tigray region.
Relapsing fever (RF): A total of 45 relapsing fever (RF) cases without death were reported during the week, showed 9(17%) cases decrement as compared to the last week. Highest 17(38%) RF cases were reported from Oromia region followed by 16(36%) were reported from Addis Addis city and 10(22%) were from Somali region.
Meningitis: A total of 74 suspected meningitis cases without death was reported during the week, which showed 4(5%) case increment as compared to last week. The highest 32(43%) suspected cases were from Somali region followed by 25(34%) cases from Oromia region.
Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM):During the week, a total of 5,791 SAM cases and

deaths were reported, which showed 221(4%) cases decrement as compared to last week. The highest 2420(42%) SAM cases were reported from Oromia followed by 1650(29%) from Somali region and 476(8%) from Amhara region. Two of deaths were reported reported from Dubti Hospital, 01 Zone of Afar region. See figure below.Malaria: A total of 22,855 confirmed and clinical cases and 2 deaths were reported during the week, which showed
2855(11%) cases decrement as compared to the last week. Highest 7,668(34%) cases were from Amhara region followed by 3,712(16%) cases were from SNNP region and 2765(12%) cases were from Tigray region. Of two deaths, 1 death was reported from Abay Chomen Woreda,Horoguduru zone of Oromia region and another 1 death was from Kemise Hospital of Amhara region. See figure below.

COVID 19 Situation
• In Ethiopia the total number of confirmed COVID -19 cases raised to 68,820 Recoveries 28,314 and 1,096 deaths recorded as of 20 September, 2020.
• Globally 31,071,628 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 22,657,438 Recovered and 962,688 deaths were reported as of 20 Septem-ber 2020, in a 213 countries/territories/ areas.
Public health action
• Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI), in collaboration with WHO and other health partners, are responding to the outbreak in the affected woredas.
• Response Teams have been deployed to all outbreak
affected-woredas and continued remote support is being provided to all regions.
Proposed Action
• Public health measures such as physical dis-tancing, mask wearing in public places and hand hygiene remain of highest importance for prevention of COVID 19.
• The ongoing Cholera disease outbreak requires robust response activities in order to control this outbreak and break chains of transmission and engage the community in these activities.
• The response to Cholera, Guinea worm, Dengue fever, AFP/Polio and measles outbreak should be linked to existing COVID-19 activities in order to use re-sources efficiently.
