DETAILED GEOLOGICAL REPORT ON EXPLORATION FOR LEAD – ZINC& COPPER MINERALISATION IN GURLA (NORTH) BLOCK

DISTT – BHILWARA, RAJASTHAN EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

1.0 LOCATION`

Gurla (North) block, located in Bhilwara district of Rajasthan and is bounded by co-ordinates, Lat: 25o15’30”N to 25o16’45”N and Long: 74o28’00’E to 74o29’30”E in Survey of India Toposheet No 45K/7. The block is located to the west of state highway connecting Ajmer - Bhilwara – Kankroli – Udaipur and is 2 km north of Gurla village which is about 25 km SW of Bhilwara and about 100 km NNE of Udaipur .

The nearest railway station is the districts headquarter Bhilwara and nearest airport is Jaipur the state capital & Udaipur.

2.0 GEOLOGY AND STRUCTURE

The Gurla (North) Block in the southern part of the Pur- Banera belt comprises rocks of Pur-Banera Group of Bhilwara super group of Lower proterozoic age. The rocks exposed in the area include quartzite, garnetiferous mica schist and quartz amphibole gneiss with numerous detached gossan patches and pegmatite. The rocks are weathered and covered by soil. A lot of minor lithological variations are noticed in borehole cores as indicated by different mineralogical assemblages and abundance of minerals within the rocks. After generalizations of different rock types the stratigraphic sequence based on the lithounits intersected in the GSI and MECL boreholes is given in Table- below:

The Gurla (North) Block falls in the southern part of the Pur-Banera belt occupying its position in the central part of the synclinorium trending NNE – SSW shown in Fig-3 (Source: District resource map, District-Bhilwara, Rajasthan, by GSI). The lithounits strike N20oE – S20oW and show parallelism.

3.0 MINERALISATION

There are a number of gossan zones & old workings trending parallel to the

strike of the rock formations. Profuse malachite stains and mine dumps and slag heaps attest to the presence of copper mineralisation and old mining & smelting activities.

The main sulphides in the block are pyrrhotite, sphalerite, galena & chalcopyrite with little pyrite. The sulphides occur as stringers, thin bands and disseminations.

The magnetite quartzite and carbonate form the host rocks for the strata bound Pb – Zn – Cu mineralisation occurring in a synform in the area (ref; Geology of Rajasthan by S. Sinha & Roy, G. Malhotra & M. Mohanty; published by Geological Society of India).

The foliations show 45o to 70o dip towards NW and control sulphide mineralization in the block. The values in trench No MGT-1 and the zones intersected in the borehole no. MGN-21 (Fig-4) show the dip angle of the lodes in the block.

4.0 QUANTUM OF WORK DONE

MECL has carried out detailed Geological Mapping & topographical survey covering 1.20 Sq/Km area with 3941m of drilling in 23 boreholes, 200 Cum shallow trenching & pitting. 1637 number of primary and check drill core samples for Cu, Pb & Zn, 201 primary and check, trench & pit samples for Cu, Pb & Zn, 100 N0s of primary samples for Co, Ni & Cd & 100 Nos primary samples for Au & Ag by fire assay were prepared. In addition to above 27 N0s of

composite samples each for Cu, Pb & Zn, for Co, Ni & Cd, for Au & Ag by fire

assay, for spectroscopic studies (10 elements) and XRD Studies were also prepared.

Petrographic studies and Minerographic studies on 50 Nos. of samples each and 70 Nos of specific gravity determination test along with 1 Ore beneficiation (bulk sample) study, one Geotechnical Studies were carried out by MECL in the Block. Based on the above data and earlier data of GSI, an exploration report was prepared and submitted by MECL.

5.0 ORE RESERVE ESTIMATION

The total resource estimated is 7.101 million tonnes of Lead – Zinc & Copper with 0.86% Pb, 1.40% Zn & 0.36% Cu in a strike length of 1792 m. The resource under Indicated category is 3.974 million tonnes with 0.91% Pb, 1.44% Zn and 0.32% Cu contributing 55.966% of total resources. The resource under Inferred category is 3.127 million tonnes with 0.80% Pb, 1.35% Zn & 0.41% Cu contributes 44.034% of the total resources.

(4)

The resources estimated by the cross section method have been cross checked by longitudinal vertical section method.

The resources by longitudinal vertical section (L.V.S) method is estimated at 7.313 M.T with 0.85% Pb, 1.40% Zn and 0.36% Cu.

The resources estimated by longitudinal vertical section (L.V.S) method are 2.89% higher than estimated by Cross Section Method.

The Deposit has been classified as Category ‘B’ of UNFC 332.

The Baseline data of Environmental studies covering land use / land cover pattern have been carried out in an area of 10 km radius area from the centre of Exploration block.
