REAL-TIME INDOOR TRACKING
For decades, the localization of objects in outdoor areas no longer represents a technical challenge anymore, thanks to compact GPS navigation devices as known from the automotive industry.
Unlike in outdoor areas, indoor localization of objects represents a far more challenging endeavour, especially since the GPS-Satellite’s signals cannot get inside of buildings.
Even under optimal conditions, it is not possible to reach a cm-precise localization of objects with GPS. If for example persons or shopping carts are to be located in a supermarket, then this would not be possible with GPS.

Available technologies such as 3D laser scanning, infrared camera tracking or radar systems are attached to high costs, particularly in large-scale applications.
Optical methods also have the shadowing problem. The system’s function is no longer available or largely impeded once there is an obstacle in front of the optics or when it is heavily soiled.
WiFi or iBeacon-based systems do not provide a high accuracy (> 5m). Furthermore these frequencies (2,4GHz & 5GHz) are not allowed in industrial environments since they are relevant and even reserved for process automation and communication.
Because of their high acquisition costs and required infrastructure, server-based UWB radio systems are very inflexible and cost intensive.
Indoor-localization made
possible with IntraNav!
Since 2010, the Quantitec GmbH has been developing an indoor localization system that unites two technologies from aviation & aerospace. Thanks to the fusion of inertial-sensors technology and radio-based time of flight measurement, IntraNav (Intralogistics Navigation) is the world‘s most cost-effective, accurate and industrial-grade positioning system for indoor and outdoor areas.
#SOLUTION
IntraNav is very cost effective due to its high scalability.
...combines two technologies, making it unbeatably robust! By using secure frequencies, In-traNav is highly immune to interferences and behaves neutral towards other frequencies – making it ideal for industrial use.
IntraNav is accurate! It has an accuracy of ±2 cm to ±15cm, depending on the version. It can be easily integrated into any existing system or operate autonomously.
IntraNav does not require expensive infrastructure such as installation of additional network cables, servers or software.
Mapping:
Based on a floor plan, the placed nodes (transmitters) are set up and
com-missioned. Depending on the cell size, 6 to 10 nodes are needed for about
2000m².
Interfacing:
The 3D-position-data of the tags (receivers) can now be visualized and
recor-ded with the IntraNav WebApp.
With the help of an API, these data can be used for additional data-analytics
by you or your customers. Using a wide range of available interfaces, the tags’
position data can be forwarded to control-units or superordinate-systems.
Connecting:
The tags (receivers) are connected to the target system via the IntraNav WebApp.
Depending on the tag version, various settings can be made in order to optimize the
system’s configure to the application.
The positioning calculation can be made directly on the tag, so that e.g. in industrial
applications, even during a power failure or a major disruption, the system can keep
positioning autonomously.

Tracking, navigation and localization of autonomous vehicles and assets. Evacuation-management and safety tracking of workers and people; ideal for hazardous environments.
Tracking for interactive tour guide systems in museums, exhibitions/fairs and immersive showrooms. Thanks to the smartphone interface, location-based-service apps are quickly implemented with IntraNav.
#SYSTEM
The IntraNav system is based on a Transmitter | Receiver principle. With only three transmitters (nodes) and a receiver (tag), it is already possible to locate objects in space. Three small transmitters form a cell, in which, depending on the cell size, you can locate with an accuracy of ± 2 cm.
The transmitters are mounted to the wall or ceiling like ordinary WiFi access points. With the help of an intelli-gent radio-bearing, transmitters are continuously transmitting their position to the receiver (tag). There can be several thousands of tags in a cell.
The battery life of the receivers is up to 8 years. Depending on the application, different types of transmitters and receivers are available.
The position-information can be transferred either to a local terminal (PC, iPhone, SmartWatch, ...) or to a cen-tral system (server, cloud, browser, ...). Optionally there are passive and active tags available.

Questions like these regarding assets in the internal production process and material flow are a thing of the past with IntraNav. With just a few transmitters and tags (receivers), IntraNav can be easily embedded into the existing infrastructure.
Autonomous vehicles do not require rigid inductive-lanes in the ground anymore, nor elaborate holes for sensors or markers in the floor, no light barriers or laser routes, ultrasound systems or magnetic encoders. Imagine you are looking for an assembly tool, a much needed module, a forklift, a pallet with color pigments, a paper roll, a spare part container or even a maintenance worker; radio-based IntraNav helps you to easily, flexibly and dynamically locate these assets within the complex or premises and accurately navigate it to its goal. A big plus for process reliability and quality management.

In cases of deviations from the regular assembly process, the system can actively point out a mistake to tools and workers equipped with IntraNav.

IntraNav creates cells in which different properties can be configured, such as cells with particularly high Accuracy or cells with priority on battery life.

One does not have to think only in large supermarkets - with IntraNav, you can even in smaller shops and galleries refine your individual positioning and navigation to a point that the benefit for the user quickly becomes apparent: the customer’s navigation on their own does not only relieves your Info-Point or Helpdesk, but also enables your customers, visitors and prospects to stay with you and not go frustrated to the competition across the street.
IntraNav offers you added value by giving you the possibility to track shopping trolleys. With the help of the tracking data one can create individual heat maps and thus generate relevant marketing data to improve product placement and display strategies.
The use in public buildings such as schools, town halls, railway stations and airports is also fitting to increase security through the definition of zones for example (geo-fencing, alarm). In case of fire or other hazards, IntraNav can support to locate remaining people in the building or in peril and thus a full evacuation.
