usiness and Management Chronicle along with its online partner CAT100.in has conducted Business School Survey 2014. Since last four years we are conducting this survey and ranking the institutions based on various parameters like accreditation, pedagogy, faculty, guest faculty, industrial visits, placements, fee-structure along with the basic facilities like computer labs, Wi-Fi, library, hostel facilities, auditoriums, etc. to help our esteemed readers and students to find a good B-School. Besides, we have ranked the institutes (who responded to our survey questionnaire) under each category like academics, intellectual capital, infrastructure, students & admission process. In addition, we have also conducted physical-survey of colleges to find the top ten institutes based on placement, industry interaction, ROI etc. Based on the response of the B-Schools we have given a list of global recruiters and top hundred domestic recruiters.

Further, to help the student in finding a good management institution in his/her home-state we have given a region-wise top ten B-Schools.

In the present scenario, where the number of Business Schools are mushrooming, we are sure that those who are looking for admission into a B-School would definitely find this survey valuable.

Methodology

The survey was conducted in four phases. To begin with professionals from B-Schools and corporate were consulted for finalizing the survey questionnaire. These questionnaire were sent to more than 1000 business schools. More than 100 responses were received. Those which did not contain full information were not included in the survey.

Besides, a perceptual survey was carried among students, managers and faculties to rate the B-schools. A structured questionnaire was asked from more than 100 people for perceptual marking.

In the second phase the data received from various B-Schools were tabulated under different parameters to determine the excellence of an institution like faculty, infrastructure, courses offered, placement, academia-industry interface and so on.

In the third phase our team visited few business schools to ascertain the reliability of information provided and have a first-hand view of the business schools. In the last and the fourth phase an in-depth analysis of the gathered information

was done with the help of research tools. During this

analysis process certain parameter were given more weightage than the other. Amongst the parameters, placement was given the highest weightage as it plays the most important role while choosing a B-School for a

faculty as it is the backbone of any institution. In fact,

the essential factor that differentiates a good B-School from the not-so-good is its faculty.

Then comes infrastructure, followed by industy-academia interface.

Based on these factors and weightage given to each parameters we have graded the institutions in seven categories - A+++, A++, A+, A, B++, B+ & B.

MBA from abroad always fascinate Indian students. There are a number of reasons to substantiate this fascination. First, the students believe that international MBA will provide them exposure to a diversified student community in terms of nationality, background (educational and profes-sional). Second, a good International B-School has access to a wider base of resources such as alumni network, faculty, guest speakers, libraries, em-ployers, etc. which will enrich the quality of the environment and the learning. Last but not the least the brand name of a good international B-School enriches the candidate’s CV (Curricu-lum vitae).

Choosing a study abroad program is not an easy task. There are chances that you may get trapped into selecting

In this competitive world, where the cost of management education is increasing continuously and the economy remains relatively weak, in such a situation it becomes very important to ponder over various attributes before choosing a B-School. Amongst these, ROI (Return on Investment) is one of most important attributes. In our Business School survey, we listed top 10 B-Schools based on their return on investment. Low cost and big salary is the great combination. However, it is always advisable to check on a few important aspects of cumulative expenses for pursuing a degree with that of what could be the inflow while earning a livelihood and repayment of loans, if any. Our survey compared the annual tuition fee spent and the average salary received by the student in these top ten institutions.

very year Business & Management Chronicle conducts B-Schools’ survey. But the 2013 All India B-Schools’ survey of Business & Manage-ment Chronicle is more extensive than ever and presents an unrivalled overview of the B-Schools’ placement trend.

We have surveyed around 100 B-Schools on pan-India basis including the IIMs. But most of the IIMs didn’t share their placement report. The data and figures that we received from other B-Schools about the placement revealed that in spite of the market downturn and the uncertainty in the economic and political environment,

the placement trend is optimistic in good B-Schools. Institutes like International Management Institute, JIMS, IIM Kozhikode and Ranchi, NITIE-Mumbai and so on have 100 per cent campus placement. The reason behind good placement in tier-1 and tier-II placement as revealed by the B-schools are “While the slowdown cannot be ignored, new sectors are getting added to our list of re-cruiters. So in a way, the effect is balanced out and our number of job offers continues to be the same”.

The prolonged slowdown has not, overall, curbed em-ployers’ enthusiasm for campus recruitment nor reduced starting salaries, shows our All India B-School Survey.
