THE GATHERING
Alleluya, sing to Jesus, His the sceptre, his the throne; Alleluya, his the triumph, His the victory alone:
Hark the songs of peaceful Sion Thunder like a mighty flood;
Jesus, out of every nation Hath redeemed us by his blood. Alleluya, not as orphans Are we left in sorrow now;
Alleluya, he is near us, Faith believes, nor questions how;Though the cloud from sight received him
When the forty days were o’er,
Shall our hearts forget his promise, ‘I am with you evermore’?
Alleluya, Bread of Angels, Thou on earth our food, our stay; Alleluya, here the sinful Flee to thee from day to day;
Intercessor, Friend of sinners, Earth’s Redeemer, plead for me,
Where the songs of all the sinless Sweep across the crystal sea.
Alleluya, King eternal, Thee the Lord of lords we own;
Alleluya, born of Mary, Earth thy footstool, heaven thy throne: Thou within the veil hast entered,
Robed in flesh, our great High Priest;
Thou on earth both Priest and Victim In the Eucharistic Feast. In the name of the Father,
and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen The Lord be with you

THE LITURGY OF THE WORD
The FIRST
1 Samuel 3.1–10[11–20]3Now the boy Samuel was ministering to the Lord under Eli. The word of the Lord was rare in those days; visions were not widespread.
2 At that time Eli, whose eyesight had begun to grow dim so that he could not see, was lying down in his room; 3the lamp of God had not yet gone out, and Samuel was lying down in the temple of the Lord, where the ark of God was. 4Then the Lord called, ‘Samuel! Samuel!’ and he said, ‘Here I am!’ 5and ran to Eli, and said, ‘Here I am, for you called me.’ But he said, ‘I did not call; lie down again.’ So he went and lay down. 6The Lord called again, ‘Samuel!’ Samuel got up and went to Eli, and said, ‘Here I am, for you called me.’ But he said, ‘I did not call, my son; lie down again.’ 7Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord, and the word of the Lord had not yet been revealed to him. 8The Lord called Samuel again, a third time. And he got up and went to Eli, and said, ‘Here I am, for you called me.’ Then Eli perceived that the Lord was calling the boy. 9Therefore Eli said to Samuel, ‘Go, lie down; and if he calls you, you shall say, “Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.” ’ So Samuel went and lay down in his place.
10 Now the Lord came and stood there, calling as before, ‘Samuel! Samuel!’ And Samuel said, ‘Speak, for your servant is listening.
Psalm 23
1. Because the Lord is my shepherd, I have ev’ry thing I need.
He lets me rest in the meadow and leads me to the quiet streams. He restores my soul and he leads me
in the paths that are right: R
R: Lord, you are my shepherd, you are my friend.
I want to follow you always, just to follow my friend.
2. And when the road leads to darkness,
I shall walk there unafraid.
Even when death is close I have courage, for your help is there. You are close beside me with comfort,
you are guiding my way:
3. In love you make me a banquet for my enemies to see. You make me welcome,
pouring down honour from your mighty hand,
and this joy fills me with gladness; it is too much to bear:
4. Your goodness always is with me and your mercy I know.
Your loving kindness strengthens me always as I go through life.I shall dwell in your presence forever, giving praise to your name:
Revelation 5.1–10
5Then I saw in the right hand of the one seated on the throne a scroll written on the inside and on the back, sealed with seven seals; 2and I
saw a mighty angel proclaiming with a loud voice, ‘Who is worthy to open the scroll and break its seals?’3And no one in heaven or on earth
or under the earth was able to open the scroll or to look into it. 4And I
began to weep bitterly because no one was found worthy to open the scroll or to look into it. 5Then one of the elders said to me, ‘Do not
weep. See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals.’ 6 Then I saw between the throne and the four living creatures and among the elders a Lamb standing as if it had been slaughtered, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out
into all the earth. 7He went and took the scroll from the right hand of
the one who was seated on the throne. 8When he had taken the scroll,
the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell before the Lamb, each holding a harp and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. 9They sing a new song:
‘You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals,
for you were slaughtered and by your blood you ransomed for God saints from every tribe and language and people and nation;
10 you have made them to be a kingdom and priests serving our God,
and they will reign on earth.’
This is the word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. Gospel Acclamation:
Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia.
THE GOSPEL READING The Lord be with you And also with you
The gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Mark 1.4–11 Glory to you, O Lord.
John 1.43–51
43 The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, ‘Follow me.’ 44Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of
Andrew and Peter. 45Philip found Nathanael and said to him, ‘We have found him about whom Moses in the law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus son of Joseph from Nazareth.’ 46Nathanael said to him, ‘Can anything good come out of Nazareth?’ Philip said to him, ‘Come and see.’ 47When Jesus saw Nathanael coming towards him, he said of him, ‘Here is truly an Israelite in whom there is no deceit!’ 48Nathanael asked him, ‘Where did you come to know me?’ Jesus answered, ‘I saw you under the fig tree before Philip called you.’ 49Nathanael replied, ‘Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!’ 50Jesus answered, ‘Do you believe because I told you that I saw you under the fig tree? You will see greater things than these.’ 51And he said to him, ‘Very truly, I tell you, you will see heaven opened and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man.’
This is the gospel of the Lord.Praise to you, O Christ. Repeat ALLELUIA
THE SERMON
THE CREED
(STAND)
We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father.
Through him all things were made.
All Bow For us and for our salvation he came
down from heaven, and was incarnate from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and was made man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is worshipped and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead,

PREPARATION OF THE GIFTS (STAND)
Pray my brothers and sisters that my sacrifice

The Prayer over the gifts Grant us, O Lord, we pray,

Christ will come again. At the end Amen.
THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven,
BREAKING OF THE BREAD
We break this bread to share in the body of Christ.
Though we are many, we are one body, because we all share in one bread.
LAMB OF GOD
Lamb of God,
you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us. Lamb of God, you take away the sins
of the world, have mercy on us. Lamb of God, you take away
the sins of the world, grant us peace. Behold the Lamb of God
who takes away the sins of the world.
Blessed are those who are called to the supper of the Lamb. Lord, I am not worthy to receive you,
but only say the word, and I shall be healed.
My Jesus, I believe that you are in the Blessed Sacrament. I love you above all things, and I long for you in my soul. Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. As though you have already come, I embrace you and unite myself entirely to you; never permit me to be separated from you. Amen.
BEHOLD THE LAMB
Lord of all hopefulness, Lord of all joy,
Whose trust, ever child-like, no cares could destroy, Be there at our waking, and give us, we pray,
Lord of all eagerness, Lord of all faith,
Whose strong hands were skilled at the plane and the lathe, Be there at our labours, and give us, we pray,
Your strength in our hearts, Lord, at the noon of the day. Lord of all kindliness, Lord of all grace,
Your hands swift to welcome, your arms to embrace, Be there at our homing, and give us, we pray,
Your love in our hearts, Lord, at the eve of the day. Lord of all gentleness, Lord of all calm,
Whose voice is contentment, whose presence is balm, Be there at our sleeping, and give us, we pray,
Your peace in our hearts, Lord, at the end of the day. Post Communion Prayer:
God of glory,
you nourish us with your Word who is the bread of life:
fill us with your Holy Spirit
that through us the light of your glory may shine in all the world.
We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
Lord Jesus Christ, we thank you
for all the benefits you have won for us, for all the pains and insults
you have borne for us.
Most merciful redeemer, friend and brother, may we know you more clearly,
love you more dearly,
and follow you more nearly, day by day. Amen THE DISMISSAL
May almighty God bless you,
the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen. Go in peace to love and serve the Lord.
Thanks be to God.
