• 2B Ryan Seiz is the fi rst Liberty player ever to be selected a semifi nalist for the 2014 Dick Howser Award. The award goes to college baseball’s top player.
• Seiz leads the Big South in home runs, runs scored, total bases and slugging percentage. • The 2B is also among the conference’s top 10 in RBIs, doubles and on base percentage. • Seiz and SS Dalton Britt are the only two Flames to start every Liberty game this season. • OF Ashton Perritt was named to the 2014 Big South All-Tournament team, last week. As a utility player, Perritt hit .357 over four games with four doubles, two RBIs and two runs scored. In addition, the junior made three appearances on the mound, earning a save during his 3 2/3 innings of work during the tournament.
• With a save in a 4-3 win over Radford at the Big South Championship this past Friday, Perritt recorded his 12th save, a career high. His season save total is the second most in a season in program history.
• At the plate, Perritt has hit .378 during the month of May to lead the Flames.
• SS Dalton Britt was select to the 2014 Big South All-Tournament team, last week. Britt hit .357 with a double, three RBIs and a run scored during the tournament. The sophomore collected at least one hit in each of the Flames’ four games at the tournament.
• 1B Alex Close collected two hits and hit his eighth home run of the season in a 4-3 win over Radford at the Big South Championship, this past Friday.
• Close leads the Flames with a .420 batting average with runners in scoring position.
• Close leads Liberty and is tied for third in the Big South in RBIs. The 1B also is third in home runs and is sixth in the slugging percentage.
• C Danny Grauer fi nished the Big South regular season tied for the conference lead with 27 RBIs in Big South games only. He was fi fth in home runs and was among the top 10 in the conference in slugging percentage and RBIs.
• OF Nick Lacik is sixth in the Big South Conference with 29 walks.
• RHP Matt Marsh has not allowed a run since Feb. 18. During the span, RHP has made 17 appearances, pitching 32 scoreless innings.
• LHP Shawn Clowers ran his record to 9-0 on the season with four scoreless innings in 4-3 win over Radford at the Big South Championship, last Friday.
• Clowers has made a career-high and team-leading 22 appearances this season, more than his fi rst two seasons combined (20 appearances).
• Both Clowers and Seiz were named to the Gregg Olson Award Watch List.
• RHP Trey Lambert was named to the initial National Pitcher of the Year Watch List. • Lambert leads the Big South Conference in wins with a 11-2 record. His 11 wins tied the Liberty program record for wins in a season.
• Lambert ranks fourth in ERA (2.10) and tied for 5th in innings pitched (91.0) in the conference.
• RHP Parker Bean ranks sixth in the Big South in strikeouts (77) and 10th in ERA (2.71)

• 2013 champion Liberty was tabbed to fi nish on top in the Big South Conference’s North Division standings by the conference’s head coaches in the league’s annual preseason poll.
• Coastal Carolina was chosen to fi nish the year as the South Division’s top team.
• This season was the second year of divisional play for Big South teams. The 12-team conference was split into two six-team divisions with each team playing 27 Big South games each.
• This season, the Big South Baseball Championship will be played at the Winthrop Ballpark in Rock Hill, S.C.,

• Liberty fi nished the home portion of its 2014 regular season schedule with a 22-5 (.815) record at Liberty Baseball Stadium.
• On April 4, the Flames drew 2,792 fans against VMI, setting new stadium record.
• The Flames posted a 25-9 mark in their fi rst season at the Liberty Baseball Stadium in 2013. • Liberty won its fi rst Big South Baseball Championship since 2000 at its new facility. The stadium served as the host site for the conference tournament.
• After 34 years of playing at Worthington Stadium, the Flames christened the new facility, with a three-game sweep of Penn State, Feb. 23-24, 2013.

Liberty in NCAA Regionals
• Liberty will be making its fi fth NCAA Regional appearance. In its previous four regional trips, the Flames gained a berth to a regional by winning the Big South Conference’s automatic bid, while this season Liberty received an at-large selection for the fi rst time in program history.
• The Liberty baseball team becomes only the second program in school history to receive an at-large selection to a NCAA Division I postseason tournament/event. The only other athletics team in Liberty history to obtain an at-large selection has been the men’s golf team, which received at-large selections three times (2003, 2006 and 2013).
• Liberty has previously participated in a NCAA Division I Regional in 1993, 1998, 2000 and 2013. • The Flames will be participating in a NCAA Regional in back-to-back seasons for its fi rst time in their program’s 41-year history.
• Last season, Liberty won the Big South Baseball Championship title, garnering their fi rst NCAA Regional berth under head coach Jim Toman. The Flames went on to reach the regional fi nal for the fi rst time in program history by defeating Clemson twice at the Columbia, S.C. Regional. • The Flames are 3-8 all-time in NCAA regionals. Liberty tripled its regional win total in 2013. Be-fore last season, Liberty’s lone regional win was a 10-2 victory over Seton Hall during the 2000 Columbia, S.C. Regional.

• Liberty will be joined by regional host and national No. 3 seed Virginia, Arkansas and Bucknell at the 2014 Charlottesville, Va. Regional.
• Virginia is the No. 1 seed, Arkansas, the No. 3 seed and Bucknell, the No. 4 seed. • Liberty faced seven teams this season which made 2014 NCAA Baseball Regional fi elds.

Arkansas
• Arkansas and Liberty will be meeting for the fi rst time on the diamond, Friday night.
• Arkansas enters the NCAA Tournament with a 38-23 overall record. The Razorbacks are making their 13th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance. • The Razorbacks are led at the plate by Brian Anderson, who leads the team with a .311 batting average and 49 RBIs.
• Arkansas has one of the top pitching staffs in the country with a 2.63 earned run average. The Razorbacks have allowed two runs or less in 32 games and posted nine shutouts in 2014. RHP Trey Killian anchors the starting rotation with a 2.18 ERA in 13 starts, including four complete games and 61 strikeouts in 90.2 innings of work.
Bucknell
• Bucknell and Liberty have met seven times on the baseball diamond. The Flames swept a three-game series last time the two teams met, Feb. 26-27, 2005.
• The Bucknell Bison posted a 30-19-1 overall record and a 15-5 mark in the Patriot League, this season.
• The Bison were paced by Corey Furman at the plate hitting .388 in 116 at bats
this season. Joe Ogren hit .324, Anthony Gingereli hit .312 and Brett Smith hit .303 in everyday action.
Virginia
• Virginia is the only team in the regional fi eld the Flames have met this sea-son. The No.1-ranked Cavaliers defeated Liberty, 8-2, on May 8 at Davenport Stadium.
• Virginia leads the all-time series with Liberty, 31-221.
• The host Cavaliers enter the postseason with a 44-13 overall record and fi nished ACC play with a 22-8 mark. They are 29-3 at home this season.
• Two-time All-ACC fi rst team member Joe McCarthy leads Virginia with a .305 batting average. • Co-ACC Pitcher of the Year Nathan Kirby anchors a deep Virginia pitching staff with a 1.48 ERA and an 8-1 mark, while All-ACC utility player Nick Howard has established himself as a dominant closer with 17 saves.
Liberty Posts Fourth 40-Win Season
• With a 3-0 win over Gardner-Webb in their opening game of the 2014 Big South Championship on May 20, the Liberty Flames posted 40 or more wins in a season for the fourth time in school history.
• Liberty has won 40 or more games in a season four times in program history - 1983, 2010, 2012 and 2014.
• Three of the four have come during 2014 Big South Coach of the Year and current Flames head coach Jim Toman’s tenure.
• Under Toman, the Flames previously recorded 40-win seasons in 2010 and 2012. The Flames posted a school record for wins during a 43-18 season in 2010, while recording a 41-19 mark in 2012.
• The only other time, the Flames collected 40 wins was in 1983 under Liberty’s fi rst head coach and program founder Al Worthington. The Flames posted a 40-17 record during their run to an appearance in the NAIA National Tournament.
Liberty Versus the Big South
• Liberty, a 23-year member of the Big South Conference, has compiled a 375-241-1 (.609) record against the Big South Conference’s current membership since 1976. • Liberty has captured four Big South tournament baseball titles, including the 2013 crown. • This season, Liberty posted a 23-3 mark in Big South Conference play, claiming the conference’s regular season title for the third time in program history.
• Liberty’s 23 conference wins set a new program record, eclipsing the previous mark of 19 set by the 2010 Flames.
• The Flames won 20 straight conference contests during the season, setting a new program record.

Flames Make History at 2013 NCAA Columbia, S.C. Regional
• Playing in their fi rst NCAA Regional since 2000, Big South Champion Liberty reached a regional fi nal for the fi rst time in the 40-year history of its program at the 2013 Columbia, S.C. Regional.
• The Flames defeated Clemson twice, 8-3 and 3-1, to make their fi rst appearance in a regional fi nal against host South Carolina at Carolina Stadium.
• With its two wins, Liberty tripled the number of wins by the program in a regional to three. The Flames had won one game during its previous three regional appearances, a 10-2 win over Seton Hall on May 27 at the 2000 Columbia, S.C. Regional.
• Liberty received the No. 3 seed at the Columbia, S.C. Regional, the highest seed in their previous four NCAA Regional appearances all-time.

Flames Nearing Program Record for Wins• With 41 wins, Liberty enters postseason play two shy of the program record for wins in a season of 43 set by the 2010 Flames (43-19).
• Liberty begins regional play tied with the 2012 Flames (41-19) for the second-most wins in a season.
• All three of Liberty top season win totals have come during head coach Jim Toman’s tenure
Pitching Making Mark
• One of the key elements of head coach Jim Toman’s team’s success has been its mound corps, this season.
• The Flames lead the Big South Conference with a 2.62 ERA. Liberty ranks 14th nationally in the category.
• Liberty’s current ERA would be the lowest in program history. The 2012 Flames hold the record with a 3.04 ERA.
• Liberty also leads the Big South with nine shutouts. The Flames rank 13th nationally in blankings. Liberty recorded six consecutive shutouts in Big South contests from March 28 - April 6. Liberty did not allow a run in a sweep of a three-game series at Presbyterian College, March 28-30, and during a three-game sweep of a series against VMI at Liberty Baseball Stadium, April 4-6.
• Liberty pitching has held opponents to .221 batting average and allowed opponents 3.2 runs per game this season, the 14th fewest in the nation.
Lambert Ties Season Mark
• RHP Trey Lambert enters the Charlottesville, Va. Regional with an 11-2 record and a 2.10 ERA over 102 2/3 innings in 2014. • Last week, Lambert tied the Liberty record for wins in a season by pitching 7 2/3 scoreless innings in a 3-0 victory over Gardner-Webb at the Big South Championship on May 20.
• The senior ties former Flames Keegan Linza and Jason Jones for the top spot on the program’s list. Linza posted an 11-3 re-cord in 2011 and Jones went 11-5 in 2002.
• In addition, Lambert is one inning pitched away from breaking into the Liberty top 10 for innings pitched in a season.
• With 102 2/3, he is currently one inning away from tying former Liberty RHP John Niggli, who pitched 103 2/3 innings during his senior year of 2012.
• Frank Speek owns the school record with 126 innings pitched in 1990.
Seiz Named Dick Howser Trophy Semifi nalist
• Liberty 2B Ryan Seiz has been listed as a semifi nalist for the 2014 Dick Howser Trophy, the National Collegiate Baseball Writ-ers Association (NCBWA).
• The award is given yearly to college baseball’s top player. • Seiz is the fi rst-ever Liberty player to be named a semifi nalist for the Dick Howser Trophy.
• The junior 2B is one of 45 players from 28 different schools and 17 different conferences named as a semifi nalist for the award.
Perritt Second on All-Time Save List
• RHP Ashton Perritt enters the Charlottesville, Va. Regional with 22 career saves after recording his 12th of the season with a scoreless ninth inning in Liberty’s 4-3 win over Radford this past Friday at the Big South Championship.
• Perritt is second on Liberty’s career save list behind former Liberty pitcher Josh Brey.
• Brey recorded 27 saves from 1999-2001.
Britt, Perritt Selected to Big South All-Tournament Team • Liberty SS Dalton Britt and UTL Ashton Perritt were named to the 2014 Big South Championship All-Tournament team. The two were selected to the team for the second straight year.
• Britt hit .357 with a double, three RBIs and a run scored, last week at the Big South Baseball Championship. The sophomore collected at least one hit in each of the Flames’ four games at the tournament.
• Perritt was the utility player on the team. The OF also hit .357 over Liberty’s four games. The center fi elder had four doubles and two RBIs, while scoring two runs. In addition, the junior made three appearances as a relief pitcher, earning a save during his 3 2/3 innings of work during the tournament.
Seiz, Lambert, Bean and Toman Garner Big South Honors
• Liberty became the fi rst team in Big South history to sweep the conference awards, selected by the Big South head coaches. • 2B Ryan Seiz was named the Big South Player of the Year. Seiz becomes the third Liberty player to be named the Big South Player of the Year. He joins outfi elder Keith Butler (2000) and infi elder Jason Benham (1998) as Flames who have won the award.
• RHP Trey Lambert was selected the Big South Pitcher of the Year, becoming the fi rst Liberty pitcher ever to garner the award. Lambert also was named the Big South Scholar-Athlete of the Year, given by the conference’s SIDs.
• RHP Parker Bean was named the Big South Freshman of the Year. The pitcher becomes the fourth Flame to be selected the conference’s Freshman of the Year. The pitcher joins pitcher Tim Harrell (1995), outfi elder Keith Butler (2000) and teammate Alex Close (2012) as Flames who have received the honor.
• Head Coach Jim Toman was a unanimous selection as the Big South Coach of the Year. It is the fi rst for the Liberty head coach. He is the second Flames’ skipper to win the honor, as Dave Pastors was named the conference’s Coach of the Year in 1998.
Liberty Places Seven on All-Conference Team
• Liberty placed seven players on the 2014 Big South All-Confer-ence teams.
• 1B Alex Close, C Danny Grauer, 2B Ryan Seiz, and pitchers Trey Lambert and Parker Bean were selected to the all-confer-ence fi rst team.
• SS Dalton Britt and relief pitcher Ashton Perritt were named to the all-conference second team.
• It is the fi rst time in program history the Flames have had fi ve members named to the all-conference fi rst team.
• It is the second time Liberty has had seven players named all-conference, as the 1998 Flames also had seven all-conference team members.
• It is the fi rst time being named all-conference for all seven players.
Liberty Clinches Big South Regular Season Title
• With a 7-1 win over Coastal Carolina on May 9, Liberty captured the 2014 Big South regular season title and clinched the No. 1 seed for the Big South Baseball Championship in Rock Hill, S.C.
• It is the third Big South regular-season title in program history and Liberty’s fi rst since 2000. The Flames also won the conference’s regular season title in 1998 and 2000.
• In addition, the Flames won a program-record 23 Big South games. The mark eclipses the 19 Big South wins by the 2010 Flames.
Close, Lambert Selected to Capital One Academic All-America® Division I Baseball Team
• Liberty Flames pitcher Trey Lambert and fi rst baseman Alex Close have been selected to the 2014 Capital One Academic Division I All-American baseball team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
• The two were honored for their excellence in the classroom and on the baseball diamond.
• The two become the second and third Liberty baseball players to be named to the CoSIDA Division I Academic All-American team. Third baseman Jason Benham was named to the 1994 team.
• Lambert, a senior, leads the Big South Conference in wins with an 11-2 record in 2014. The right-hander and team captain has posted a team-leading 2.10 ERA over 102 2/3 innings.
• Off the fi eld, Lambert graduated in May with an undergraduate degree in health promotion and is currently maintaining a 3.94 cumulative GPA. A two-time Big South Presidential Honor Roll member, the pitcher was recently named the recipient of the 2014 Rock Royer/Mac Rivera Award, honoring the top graduat-ing senior student-athlete at Liberty University. In addition, he is active in various community projects.
• Close, a fi rst team Big South All-Conference team member, is one of two juniors on the team. The 1B has hit .324 with 34 runs scored and a team-high 45 RBIs in 55 games this season. The team captain has belted eight home runs, while leading the Flames with a .420 batting average with runners in scoring posi-tion in 2014.
• Academically, Close, a junior, has maintained a 3.84 cumula-tive GPA, while pursuing a degree in business administration: fi nance. A member of the Big South Presidential Honor Roll, he serves a representative on LU’s Student-Athlete Advisory Com-mittee and is involved in several community outreach programs.
Clowers, Seiz Selected to Gregg Olson Watch List
• Liberty P Shawn Clowers and 2B Ryan Seiz are two of 80 players who appear on the watch list for the 2014 Gregg Olson Award. The award honors college baseball’s “Breakout Player of the Year”.
• Clowers has become a key member of the Liberty bullpen this season. The LHP has posted a 9-0 record and a 0.89 ERA over a career-high 50 2/3 innings. He has made a career-high and team-leading 21 appearances.
•Over his previous two seasons, Clowers had appeared in 20 games and pitched 23 2/3 innings.
• Seiz was named the Big South Player of the Year. The 2B leads the conference in four offensive categories - runs scored, home runs, slugging percentage and total bases. In addition, he is among the Big South leaders in batting average, hits, doubles and on base percentage.
• Seiz sat out last season after transferring from Louisville.
Perritt Named to Midseason NCBWA Stopper Watch List
• Liberty reliever Ashton Perritt is one of 50 relief pitchers named to the midseason watch list for the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Stopper of the Year Award. The honor is annually given to the top relief pitcher in NCAA Division I.
• Perritt, who also starts in the outfi eld for the Flames, has posted a 1-2 record with a 1.52 ERA and 11 saves over 29 1/3 innings in 18 appearances this season.
• Perritt’s 12 saves are a career high for the right-hander and are the second most in a season in school history behind 16 by Josh Brey in 2000.
• The junior enters the week with 22 career saves, ranking second on the all-time program list behind Brey, who posted 27
from 1999-2001.
Toman Notches 250
• Liberty head coach Jim Toman recorded career win 250 with Liberty’s 10-4 victory at Longwood on April 11.
• In seven years, Toman has compiled a 264-153-1 career record with a .632winning percentage.
• Toman has recorded the best NCAA Division I winning percent-age and best Big South Conference mark of any coach in school history.
• Toman is one of only two Liberty coaches to win over 200 games in program history. He joins program founder Al Worthing-ton, who posted 343 victories during 13 seasons as the Flames’ head coach.
Lambert Named to National Pitcher of the Year Watch List
• Senior RHP Trey Lambert was one of 47 pitchers listed on the fi rst watch list for the 2014 National Pitcher of the Year Award. • The Big South Pitcher of the Year, Lambert enters the week with a 11-2 record with a 2.10 ERA over 102 2/3 innings. The senior leads the Big South Conference and is tied ninth nation-ally in wins.
• The right-hander Lambert also has pitched three complete games, two of which were shutouts, and has held opponents to a .211 batting average.
• After pitching a one-hit shutout in a 5-0 win at Presbyterian Col-lege on March 28, Lambert was named Big South Conference Pitcher of the Week for March 31. He also received several na-tional honors, as he was selected an NCAA.com Top Performer for Week 7 and an ECAC Player of the Week.
Liberty Among Top 50 in Attendance
• Liberty averaged 1,467 fans per home date at Liberty Baseball Stadium this season.
• The Flames’ average attendance ranked 43rd in the nation on the latest NCBWA Attendance Report for games through May . • Liberty has drawn 38,142 fans (50th in total attendance) over 27 games at Liberty Baseball Stadium, this season.
• Since opening Liberty Baseball last season, the Flames have averaged 1,219 fans per game.
