4. Assessment

Building on efforts to move away from an over-emphasis on academic results, there will be no weighted assessment for Primary 3 in Term 1. As Primary 3 is a transition year, where students are exposed to a new subject, i.e. Science, we want to provide them with adequate time and space to adjust to the increased curriculum demands.

Instead, subject reviews will be conducted to monitor students’ progress and check on their understanding. While they are not weighted, the subject reviews are important to inform us of our students’ progress. Students will be informed of the review weeks by their respective Subject Teachers.

5. Level Programmes

Remedial/Supplementary/Enrichment Class

The teachers will inform your child and you accordingly via Parents Gateway if your child is selected to attend any remedial/supplementary or enrichment class. We strongly urge all parents to assist in ensuring your child/ward attends the lessons regularly in order for them to fully benefit from it academically.

Habits of Mind (HOM) Training

The school aims to use Habits of Mind (HOM) as a thinking curriculum to inculcate thinking dispositions and develop Self-Directed Learners in every student. HOM inculcate good learning habits and thinking dispositions which will enable students to become Self-Directed Learners.

As part of a whole-school approach to introduce HOM to the students, P3 students will be attending Habits of Mind Training sessions on Thursdays during CCA time. Students will be taught HOM through hands-on activities to understand what each Habit of Mind looks like, sounds like and feels like. The students will learn ways to apply these habits in school and at home.

School-Parent Meeting (SPM) & Class-Parent Meeting (CPM)

In our effort to foster a positive home-school partnership, there will be a Class Parent Meeting on Thursday, 14 January 2021, 3 pm – 4.30 pm. This is an opportunity for you to meet up with the Form Teacher who will share his/her expectations, class rules and routines with you. It is also a platform for you to partner the school in nurturing your child holistically. We strongly encourage all parents to attend. In view of the Safe Management Measures (SMM) in school, the meeting will be conducted via Zoom. Information on registration for the meeting will be sent to you via Parents Gateway (PG) on Tuesday, 5 January 2021. Please register by Monday, 11 January 2021. The Zoom link will be sent to you once you have registered for the meeting.
