Fatal accidents

Manchester – 18 May 2015

London – 20 May 2015

"Fantastic day – it was great that it had a back to basics approach so even a beginner such as

myself could follow it."

Presented by Simon Allen, this course seeks, through practical examples, to help define the category of claimant arising from a fatal

accident/illness and explain how the claim is then valued under the Law Reform and Fatal Accident Acts.

Using an example of a fatal mesothelioma victim, the day is built around a case study to explore the items of loss and expense through to a full

consideration of the application of the Ogden Tables and how to produce a schedule of losses in both 'lost years' and fatal cases.

The course will provide a complete education in this complicated area of PI practice.

Further topics include:

• who is a primary victim?

• the application of the control tests to

rescuers, participants and relations

• a practical example of a fatal case

• use of the 7th edition of the Ogden Tables

• assessing the multiplier and multiplicand

• assessing the different heads of damages

Plus much more...
