System requirements

About IBM Document Manager client/server version compatibility

Important: You must upgrade clients and servers to the same Document Manager version. Different versions of Document Manager are not compatible, therefore, you cannot connect a Document Manager client with a server that has a different Document Manager version installed.

Server hardware

The following hardware is required for each IBM Document Manager server.

 Processor: 1 GHz or faster per processor

 RAM: 1 GB recommended; 512 MB minimum

 Free disk space: 250 MB

Server operating systems

The IBM Document Manager server requires one of the following operating systems.

Operating system Notes Windows Server 2012 R2

Windows Server 2012 Windows Server 2008 R2

Service Pack 1 (64-bit) Edit the system-wide COM limits as described in: “Remote clients fail to connect to a DB2 Document Manager server on a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 (SP1) or Server 2008 system”

Windows Server 2008 R2

(64-bit) Edit the system-wide COM limits as described in: “Remote clients fail to connect to a DB2 Document Manager server on a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 (SP1) or Server 2008 system”

Windows Server 2008

Renditioning software

IBM Document Manager Rendition Services requires software from independent software vendors to create renditions. This software must be installed on the server that is running Rendition Services.

The renditioning software that is used depends on the type of renditions that the service generates.

 To render PDF files, use Adobe Acrobat Distiller and the application that was used to create the original file.

 To render TIF files and thumbnails, use Oracle Systems AutoVue client (not the Client-Server Editions or AutoVue for Java (jVue)).

Content repositories

IBM Document Manager requires one of the following content repositories.

All versions of both IBM Content Manager Enterprise Edition and IBM Content Manager for z/OS are supported.

Content repository Notes

∆ IBM Information Integrator for Content Version 8.5, 8.5 Fix Pack 1 All the IBM Content Manager Versions that are compatible with IBM Information Integrator for Content Version 8.5 are supported. Client hardware

 Processor: 233 MHz

 RAM: 256 MB

 Free disk space: 250 MB

Client operating systems

IBM Document Manager clients require one of the following operating systems.

Recommendation: Install IBM Document Manager clients (Designer and Desktop) on client systems (Windows8.1, Windows 8.0, Windows 7). Having IBM Document Manager clients installed on the IBM Document Manager server system can be useful while you design the Desktop and test various configuration options, but client systems provide better processor utilization for client applications than server systems.

Known problems

1. IBM Information Integrator for Content hot-fix IO21767 is needed for modifying security of IBM Record Manager declared documents

In APAR15153, IBM Document Manager supports modifying the security of an IBM Record Manager declared document.

To modify security for an IBM Record Manager declared document, you must apply for IBM Information Integrator for Content hot-fix IO21767.

Without the hot-fix IO21767, IBM Document Manager desktop fails to set security for a declared document. The IO21767 hot-fix was created for IBM Information Integrator Version 8.4.3 Fix Pack 3, IBM Information Integrator Version 8.4.3 Fix Pack 4, and IBM Information Integrator Version 8.5 Fix Pack 1.

2. IBM Document Manager desktop fails to retrieve group for the login user

With Oracle database and IBM Content Manager Version 8.5 and 8.5 Fix Pack 1 as the back end server, IBM Document Manager desktop fails to retrieve the group for the login user. As a result, IBM Document Manager users can’t get the correct desktop template.

To solve the problem, you need to deploy hot-fix IO21088 that was created for IBM Content Manager Version 8.5 Fix Pack 1.

APARs list

APAR Brief problem description

IO20457 With multiple sessions in IBM Document Manager, when you changed the group for the first session, the new selected group appeared in the last session.

With the fix of this APAR, normal behavior is restored.

IO20622 With “Hang Resistance” feature in Windows Internet Explorer version 9.0 and above, IBM Document Manager power search dialog did not respond if loading properties or CVL list from server took longer than 3 seconds.

With the fix of this APAR, normal behavior is restored

IO20713 Class property in the plugins ini file did not change when changing the IBM Document Manager class in Add From Library Template dialog.

With the fix of this APAR, normal behavior is restored.

IO20935 MClientAPI.LoadSearchResults() set the return value of the IBM Document Manager Client to one if the DMSearchResults object passed to it that was obtained from the DMClientAPI.GetResults method.

With the fix of this APAR, normal behavior is restored.

IO21071 There was a memory leak when you declared a document in lifecycle service.

This APAR solve the memory leak problem for lifecycle service. IO21463 Full folder structure was not shown when user added document

(8)

With the fix of this APAR, normal behavior is restored.

IO21468 Users with low privileges could change the security on items of record.

IBM Information Integrator for Content hot-fix IO21767 is the

prerequisite of this APAR.With both IO21468 and IO21767 fixes, normal behavior is restored.

IO21846 With multiple sessions of IBM Document Manager automation service, a second session made many attempts to lock a request that already being processed.

In the case IBM Document Manager automation service ran with multiple sessions, and there was only 1 request left in the requests queue, other sessions made many attempts to lock the request that already being locked by one session.

The fix helps IBM Document Manager automation service decrease lock errors.

IO22157  Ddmextr.exe crashed when checking in Microstation file (.dgn). When checking-in IBM Document Manager Version 8.5 Fix Pack 4, DdmExtr.exe crashed when extracting the compound documents for a Microstation *.DGN file.
