Scholarship Application Process

Oxnard College Foundation’s #1 goal is Student Success

Step 1:

Visit:

www.oxnardcollege.edu/scholarships

or Oxnard College Home Page, Community, Foundation, and

Scholarships. To be eligible to apply for Oxnard College Foundation Scholarships one of the following categories

must

be met. Download the correct form in which you are eligible:

1)

Entering Student from High School

- You

must

be enrolled at any Ventura County High School, be graduating

this school year and planning to enroll at Oxnard College by the upcoming fall semester.

2)

Continuing/Returning/Re-Entry Student -

You

must

be currently enrolled Full-Time with a minimum of 12

units and enrolled in 12 or more units at the time the award is disbursed unless criteria includes Part-Time Student.

Returning/Re-Entry Applicants

must

be returning to higher education after a break in education for 2 or more

years, planning to enroll at Oxnard College or are already enrolled at Oxnard College after a 2 year break this

current school year.

3)

Transferring Student -

You

must

have completed a minimum of 48 units at Oxnard College and will be entering

a four year institution by the upcoming fall semester.

mark those scholarships you qualify for.

Our generous donors have established specific criteria to provide

students with scholarships in their related field of study, special interests, GPA or careers.

VI. Applicant Certification –

At this point, please save and print your application. Sign and date the original packet

on the Applicant Certification agreeing that you meet all the criteria/qualifications for each of the scholarships

marked in the application.

Step 3:

Submit (2) Two Evaluation sheets completed by faculty or classified employee on campus from qualified individuals

with direct knowledge of your abilities and potential. At least one must be from an Oxnard College Faculty unless

otherwise noted in criteria.

Please Note

: Scholarship Selection Committee Members

cannot

write Evaluation Sheets.

(Allow a two week notice to be filled out by faculty.)

Step 4:

After completing your original application packet including all attachments, make the following copies:

Oxnard College Scholarship Reimbursement Funding

:

If you are awarded scholarship funding, you will be notified and invited to the Scholarship Awards Ceremony. To

claim OCF Scholarship Reimbursement Funds – You must submit your out-of-pocket receipts which cover tuition,

fees and/or books and educational supplies. Proof of enrollment is required and in some cases, unofficial

transcripts and class syllabus. All unclaimed funds revert back to the OCF Scholarship Fund after 2 years.

Duarte Enterprises Scholarship - $500

• Earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75

• Participated in a leadership role at Oxnard College for at least two semesters, or have participated in volunteer activities that serve the community

• Full-time continuing Oxnard College student

Edison International Continuing Student Scholarship for STEM Majors - $500

• Full-time Continuing Student Enrolls and attends the fall semester at Oxnard College • Completed at least 12 units at Oxnard College

• Earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0

• Must have unmet financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Program • Must be pursuing a degree or transfer in one of the below STEM Majors:

 Math, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science/Information Systems

 Engineering: Electrical, Computer, Chemical, Mechanical, Civil and Nano

 Material Sciences: Computer, Environmental

Ed Robings Memorial Scholarship - $500

• Earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75

• Must complete at least 24 units but not more than 70 units by the end of the Spring semester • Leadership, community and extracurricular activities a plus

• Full-time continuing Oxnard College student

El Buen Hijo - Track 1- $1,000 each

• Full-time Continuing Student

• Must be of Hispanic origin with bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish with a career goal in education • In addition to the Scholarship Essay, you must submit a one-page essay describing career goal(s) in education and

helping others, to include why the student is “El Buen Hijo” or “La Buena Hija” • Must be a US citizen or have permanent resident status

• Earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3

• Must be continuing student and completed at least 15 units and attending Oxnard College in the fall

• Must have participated in a leadership role at Oxnard College for at least two semesters, OR have participated in volunteer activities that serve the community

• Have an Applicant Evaluation Sheet from at least one Oxnard College faculty or staff member • Disabled students are encouraged to apply

El Buen Hijo - Track 2- $1,000 each

• Full-time Continuing Student

• Must have a career goal in arts and communications, journalism, business, foreign languages, or education (elementary, secondary, or college level)

• In addition to the Scholarship Essay, you must submit one-page essay describing career goal(s), include why the student is “El Buen Hijo” or “La Buena Hija”

• Must be a US citizen or have permanent resident status • Earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3

• Must be continuing and have completed at least 15 units at Oxnard College, and attending Oxnard College in the fall • Must have participated in a leadership role at Oxnard College for at least two semesters, OR have participated in

volunteer activities that serve the community

• Have an Applicant Evaluation Sheet from at least one Oxnard College faculty or staff member • Disabled students are encouraged to apply

Florence England Memorial Scholarship - $1,000

• Returning/Re-Entry Women (Returning to higher education after a break of two or more years) • Earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0

Helen Yunker Dental Hygiene Scholarship – Amount Varies

• Must have completed 1 year and continue as an Oxnard College Dental Hygiene Student • Good academic standing

• Financial hardship

Kay Hawkins Memorial Scholarship - $500

• Returning/Re-Entry Student (An individual returning to higher education after a break of two or more years) • Full or part-time student

• Demonstrate financial need

• Earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0

Lauritzen Cool AB Scholarship - $1,000

• Must be a son/daughter of an active registered member of the International Longshoreman & Warehouseman Union

• Full-time student

• Earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0

• $500 provided for Fall 2014 and $500 provided for spring 2014 • Eligibility for scholarship on a one-time basis only

Osher Initiative for California Community College Students Scholarship – Awards up to $500

Fall/$500 Spring each; will be pro-rated based on enrollment.

• Student must be currently receiving theBoard of Governor’s Fee Waiver through Financial Aid.

• Must have completed 24 or more “degree applicable” semester units for Fall 2014 Funds are to be used only at Oxnard College.

• Earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5

• Student must be enrolled at least half-time (6 or more units) during all terms in which the award remains active.

Oxnard College Foundation Board of Directors Scholarship - $1,000

• Earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 4.0

• Must complete at least 24 units but not more than 70 units by the end of the spring semester • Leadership, community and extracurricular activities (please attach a description of activities).

Oxnard College Student Scholarships for Continuing Student - $500

• Enrolls and attends the fall semester at Oxnard College • Completed at least 12 units at Oxnard College

• Earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 • Be a U.S. citizen or have permanent resident status

• Pursuing a certificate, degree or transfer to a baccalaureate institution

• Participated in a leadership role at Oxnard College for at least two semesters, or have participated in volunteer activities that serve the community

• Earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 • Be a U.S. citizen or have permanent resident status

• Pursuing a certificate, degree or transfer to a baccalaureate institution

Radio LAZER Scholarships – $500

• Earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5

• Actively enrolled in fall semester, and have completed a minimum of 12 units at Oxnard College • Full-time or part-time student

Robert and Hope Holcomb Scholarship - $500

• Earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75

• Must complete at least 24 units but not more than 70 units by the end of the spring semester • Leadership, community and extracurricular activities a plus

Romain Van de Genachte Memorial Presidential Scholarships -– $500 each

• Earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0

• Applicant Evaluation Sheet from Oxnard College faculty • Demonstrated pattern of improvement

• Demonstrated commitment to help others by assuming leadership roles and responsibilities • Economic need

• Full-time Continuing Student

“Santa to the Sea” Scholarships - $500

• Enrolls and attends the fall semester at Oxnard College • Earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0

• Full-time/Part-time Student

• Funds are to be used for tuition, books, fees and school supplies • Continuing at Oxnard College

• Demonstrate a Financial Need

• Preference given to those that work/have volunteered/or live in one of the below categories to apply (please attach proof):

• Must be a current Oxnard College varsity Soccer team member • Must have provided service to the college

Avelina Villalobos Memorial Scholarship, Western Ventura County Employers Advisory Council/

Osher Initiative– Awards up to $500 Fall/$500 Spring each; will be pro-rated based on enrollment.

• Full-time continuing Oxnard College student that has earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0

• Three (3 Applicant Evaluation Sheets that must include one academic reference (family members excluded). • Finalists will participate in a face-to-face interview with the scholarship selection committee.

• Ventura County resident for a minimum of one year

• Student must be currently receiving theBoard of Governor’s Fee Waiver through Financial Aid. • Must have completed 24 or more “degree applicable” semester units by Fall 2014.

CRM (Culinary Restaurant Management) Continuing Student - $500

• Must major in culinary and/or restaurant management • Earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0

• Must be enrolled in two CRM classes at Oxnard College • Full-time continuing Oxnard College student

• 2nd year student

• Culinary/Restaurant Management Department selects the recipient • Must have participated in three catering events for Oxnard College

EOPS - Extended Opportunity Programs and Services Awards

- Department selects all EOPS recipients

Co-operative Agencies, Resources for Education (CARE) Award - $250

• Earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 and in “good standing” in the EOPS Program • Must be continuing in the Oxnard College CARE Program in Fall 2014

• Must have unmet need as determined by the Financial Aid program

EOPS Continuing Student - $250

• Earned a minimum cumulative GPA of at least a 2.75 and be in ‘good standing’ in the EOPS Program • Must be continuing in the Oxnard College EOPS Program in Fall 2014

EOPS Honors Student - $500

• Earned a minimum cumulative GPA of at least a 3.75 • Must be in ‘good standing’ in the EOPS Program

• Must be continuing in the Oxnard College EOPS Program in Fall 2014 • Must have unmet need as determined by the Financial Aid program

Teresa O. Archuleta Memorial - $500

• Earned a minimum cumulative GPA of at least a 2.75

• Must be a continuing EOPS student at Oxnard College in the Fall of 2014 • Must have community involvement.

• Must be in “good standing” in the Oxnard College EOPS Program

• Must have unmet financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Program

Greater Oxnard Organization of Democrats (GOOD Club) - $500

• Earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 • Must be a continuing Oxnard College student

• Must complete at least 24 units but not more than 70 units by the end of the spring semester • Leadership, community and extracurricular activities a plus

• GOOD club selects recipient

Las Madrinas – Rebozo Scholarship– $500

• Re-Entry Student (An individual returning to higher education after a break of two or more years) • Be a U.S. citizen or have permanent resident status

• Full or part-time student

• Rebozo Scholarship Committee selects recipient

Michael Sment Legal Assisting/Paralegal Studies Scholarship - $500

• Full-time Continuing Student

• Pursuing a certificate, degree or transfer to a baccalaureate institution • OC Student majoring in Legal Assisting/Paralegal Studies

• Demonstrate financial need

• Disabled students are encouraged to apply

• Attach an additional brief essay (400 words max.) explaining financial need, the proposed use of the scholarship funds, and the career and/or job the applicant student is studying for.

OC Sociology Club/Republic Services Scholarships - $500

• Entering Oxnard College

• Completed at least 12 units at Oxnard College • Earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 • Ventura County Resident

• Full-time or Part-time Continuing Student

• Must have participated in Sociology Club at Oxnard College or be a CALWorks recipient (please attach proof or describe your participation)

Oxnard Gem and Mineral Society - Ray Meisenheimer Memorial - $1,000

• Full-time student

• Earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 • US Citizen or permanent resident status

• Pursuing a certificate or degree in Environmental Science, Coastal Environmental Studies, Oceanography, Geography, Geology or Physical Science

Susan D. Denham Memorial Dental Hygiene Scholarships - Amount Varies

• Re-entry student - an individual returning to higher education after a break of two or more years • Single parent Full-time Continuing Re-entry Student

• Must have completed 1 year as a dental hygiene student at Oxnard College • Good academic standing

• Financial hardship
