Dear Prospective Student,

Congratulations on your decision to pursue your Master of Science in Nursing, and thank you for exploring the opportunity available to you at The University of Arizona. We are extremely proud of the program we have developed specifically for working RNs with associate degrees in nursing and as you learn more about it, you will discover the incomparable advantages our online program has to offer. Please accept my invitation to apply to our online RN to MSN program.

We have designed the UA online RN to MSN program to prepare you with the tools to meet the challenges of today’s complex healthcare world head-on. The program is focused, fast and flexible with no lengthy pre-requisites. We recognize that your ADN degree and work experience qualify you to jump straight to earning a generalist master’s degree as your first university degree. You’ll gain the confidence and clinical leadership skills to help re-shape patient care at the system level. Whether you are interested in a formal direct care leadership position or wish to have a greater voice in healthcare by assuming an interprofessional leadership role, the RN to MSN online program at UA is designed with you in mind. We have developed the curriculum for the RN to MSN program to help you develop a set of advanced nursing and leadership tools that you can take to any setting, such as a hospital, nursing home, home healthcare or health insurance company. Because we challenge you to develop a global mindset and perspective, you will begin to look at solving health care issues in a new, broader, and more systematic way to impact the health of our nation and our world. We are confident that what you learn in our RN to MSN program will empower you to meet the healthcare challenges of today and tomorrow.

The online RN to MSN program builds on your existing clinical nursing experience to develop you into a nursing leader with heightened competencies in delivering patient-centered care that is comprehensive, coordinated and responsive for advancing the health and well-being of individuals and populations. While there are no residency requirements, all students in the online RN to MSN degree program are required to complete a Clinical Systems Leadership Immersion. This course can be completed in your current workplace or in your local community at a program

Clinical Systems Leadership Immersion

An Engaging Nursing Curriculum

The online RN to MSN program is a 44 credit hour program that features eleven 8-week long courses.

Nursing students can complete the degree in as few as two years (equivalent to six semesters). For students

who have not completed a statistics course in their previous coursework, a 3 credit hour graduate level

statistics course is required (Students needing to complete the statistics course (provided online) will

graduate with 47 credits). There are 3 starts per year – January, May, and September.

Admission Requirements

To be eligible for this program, all applicants must meet the following qualifications:

Accreditation

The University of Arizona is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools Higher Learning Commission. The College of Nursing at the University of Arizona is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

university as one of the best colleges in the Western region. • Hold a current unencumbered license as a registered nurse in the state in which the student will do clinical course work.

Note: an “unencumbered license” means neither the license, the licensee’s practice, nor the licensee is associated with any type of restriction, encumbrance, or probationary limitations imposed by the applicable Board of Nursing or any judicial entity. A copy of the RN license must be submitted at the time of application.

• Have at minimum an Associate Degree in Nursing from an educational institution that is accredited by a nationally recognized professional accreditation agency such as the National League for Nursing (NLN).

• Have earned at minimum an Associate’s Degree in Nursing with a 3.0 GPA or higher, based upon a 4.0 scale for the last 30 semester credits of their nursing education degree program.

• Have at minimum the equivalent of two full years of work experience (or at least 4160 hours, including vacation time) as an RN within the past five years. • The following materials must be submitted for application:
