The clinical health science programs cover Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Paramedicine, Podiatry and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Medicine
As a graduate of the Medicine and
Surgery degree (MBBS), you’ll
be more than just highly skilled;
you’ll be ready for your internship
and further specialist training.
Based on a curriculum that is tailored to the Western Sydney context as well as providing opportunities to experience rural medical practice, the program offers problem-based learning with intensive clinical practice and leading research.
You will learn skills using state-of-the-art equipment and learning spaces, including a new technologically-enhanced anatomy laboratory, and clinical schools located at hospitals and community services in Western Sydney and across NSW.
Graduates are eligible for registration by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and may be able to apply for registration in overseas countries. Career opportunities
Medical graduates have a huge variety of careers open to them, including medical clinical practice (general or specialist), medical research, teaching or administration, or a combination of these. Most medical graduates undertake further postgraduate vocational training before starting independent practice in their chosen area.
In NSW, internships are administered by the Health Education and Training Institute (HETI), or by equivalent organisations in other states and territories.

Career opportunities
As a nursing graduate, you may work in acute care hospitals, aged care services, child and adolescent health, community health, medical practice nursing, disability services, emergency or trauma units, justice health, mental health services, forensics, drug and alcohol, occupational health, oncology, operating theatres, palliative care, rehabilitation services, nursing education and health administration. Registered midwives may work in a range of maternity areas within community settings and private and public hospitals in metropolitan, rural and remote areas. These include: midwifery group practice, team midwifery, caseload midwifery, homebirth, birth centres, antenatal clinics, postal wards, birthing units, postnatal clinics, community midwifery services and midwives also work in policy, research, education and management.
Policing
and Criminology
Our Bachelor of Policing is the
only metropolitan Sydney-based
policing degree.
This degree places a strong emphasis on modern policing methods. Regular consultation with NSW Police recruiters means you’ll increase your chances of joining the NSW or Australian Federal Police agencies. You may choose to study criminology or criminal and community justice, and develop the skills essential for corrective service roles. Career opportunities
As a graduate, you may find a career in policing, other Commonwealth or state law enforcement and criminal justice agencies, intelligence agencies, border protection, security management, fraud management and investigation roles within the corporate or local government sectors, forensics, and computer forensics.

The Science facilities span three campuses and include Anatomical, Biological and Chemical facilities, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, the Mass Spectroscopy Lab and Confocal Bio-Imaging Facility. Combined
degrees
Your study options at Western
Sydney University are increasing.
Now you can tailor your studies to
your specific goals by combining
more degrees.
In 2017, the University will also offer a Bachelor of Data Science. This unique degree can be taken in combination with any Bachelor degree.
For example, you may choose to combine your Bachelor of Business degree with an Applied Leadership and Critical Thinking degree, or Arts, or Communication, or Information and Communications Technology, or International Studies, or Law, or Science. The choice is yours.
The Bachelor of Data Science combines your choice of Bachelor degree with a focus on mathematics, statistics and computing. Graduates will know how to embark on data driven investigations, and conduct visual and computational analytics for application in their own primary research.

ABORIGINAL AND TORRES STRAIT ISLANDER APPLICANTS
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander program at Western Sydney University is aimed at increasing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participation in undergraduate courses across all areas of study.
Whether you are currently working, unemployed, studying at TAFE or coming straight from high school, as a prospective student you are not required to have completed the HSC or any other qualifications to apply to study at the University via the program.
The program’s duration is two days and includes assessment workshops in literacy and numeracy, and an interview to discuss your course of interest.

HOW MUCH WILL MY COURSE COST AND DO I NEED TO PAY THE FEES STRAIGHT AWAY?
All undergraduate courses at Western Sydney University are Commonwealth supported for Australian citizens and permanent residents. This means undergraduate tuition fees are subsidised by the Government, giving you a lower rate of fees to pay. As an Australian
HOW MANY HOURS WILL I SPEND AT UNI?
As a full-time student on campus, you should expect to spend 12–16 hours each week in lectures or tutorials between 8am and 9pm, Monday to Friday. Practical courses will require out of hours involvement and some courses require off-campus placements.
HOW LONG ARE THE TEACHING SESSIONS?
Most undergraduate degrees are taught in two sessions – the Autumn session (from March to June) and the Spring session (from July to November). Western Sydney University also offers an optional Summer session (from December to February), during which students can undertake additional units if they are available.
The College offers programs which are taught over three terms.
