Uncontended, dedicated internet service

A Leased Line & your business

We know how important the internet is to you and your business, it is vital that your business has a service that you can trust and rely on. A dedicated Leased Line from TWL Voice and Data will give you an un-contended service that has unbeatable performance.

We can assure our customers that our service is unique and we think you’ll also be impressed with our level of customer service, that’s what makes us stand out from the competition. Our service is underpinned by a money back service level agreement (SLA).

100% satisfaction, 100% availability

It’s easy to take your internet connectivity for granted but have you ever thought what effect it would have on your business if your service was suddenly unavailable? For most companies, the thought of no email access, no internet, no calls or ordering could have a devastating result and that’s why we assure that you will get the very best service possible.

We’re so confident with the service and performance

of our Leased Lines that we offer the best possible target availability of 100% within our SLA. Reliability is one the main attributes of a leased line, but in the unlikely event of an outage you will be able to claim service credits back through TWL.

What this means for you

Most other providers will be saying the same sort of thing and they’ll be offering high target

availability percentages. Let’s say a company is offering a target availability of 99.85%, sounds close enough to 100% so why should it be a problem?

Well, after working out the figures, you could expect

a downtime of over 13 hours a year – quite severe if this was to happen during your busiest time of day.

That amount of downtime could have a significant

effect on your business and who would want to take that risk?

There may be no come back under their SLA until this amount of down time has been reached. While

target availability stats may look high the expected

downtime and business cost is important to consider.

Bringing it all together

Here is an example of a particular business and how they can adopt a Leased Line to benefit the

operation of the business.

Head Office – They use a TWL connection to allow all users to be online all at the same time without any drop in speed.

Warehouse – Use broadband. Most work is done

offline, bus staff still need to check e-mails and ac -cess an order placement system.

Managers – They would also use broadband to access their emails, browse online and send/receive emails when working from home. There is a slight delay but it is hardly noticeable.

Sales Staff – Use WiFi or a 3G connection to check customer addresses on their smartphone or tablet.

1. Target Service Availability

Anything less than 100% means your business will

be expected to be without the Internet for a period of time. 99.9% equates to 8.8 hours expected down

time per year. When you factor in the cost of labour, loss of sales/orders providers, and decline in

credibility, that can have a serious impact on revenue.

2. Service Level Agreement (SLA)

Always read the small print to ensure that you’re fully covered, both for problems with the circuit and the network. Check the SLA covers all of the solution, especially if some components are being provided by other providers, and understand the impact this has on the SLA.

3. Claiming the SLA

How much is paid out? Can you claim the moment a fault is reported or do you have to wait a certain number of hours? The longer your claim time, the more damage is done to your business.

4. Payment

Always check for up-front connection costs and any hidden fees. Look out for any differences in the price when paying either monthly or quarterly. Some

provider’s charge significantly more to pay monthly

than annually.

5. Contention

You shouldn’t have any one else sharing your bandwidth. Check the small print to ensure that the

circuit and any Internet traffic is uncontended from

the customer’s site all the way out to the Internet

and that is confirmed in writing.

6. Room to Grow

Can you change your bandwidth easily? Be aware

of the costs and timescales of flexing bandwidth –

can you raise it to accommodate growth or lower it to save money in quieter periods? How long does it

take to flex?

7. Installation and delivery

Be aware of who installs and delivers the service. Some providers use the third parties and this can impact performance and response times. Check your SLA for the applicable payments for delayed delivery.

8. Latency

This is the time between the original request for data and when the data actually starts to transfer. Poor latency means applications will be less responsive and users accessing websites you host will

experience slow loading times. Confident suppliers

will quote real-time latency stats online. 9. Symmetric and asymmetric access

Make sure your traffic profile lets your type of

Internet usage. If you upload more content than you download, your leased line should be able to

accommodate this so you aren’t paying for inbound usage that you don’t need.

10. Added Extras

What are you getting free of charge? A router, online usage reporting and protection against security

threats are examples. What is the specification of

the router provided?

10 Things to look for in a Leased Line provider

It goes without saying to check the small print but here are a few things to look out for when choosing your Leased Line.
