This course addresses people who work in educational settings:

Teachers and parents, who are either new to NVC or who want to learn more and who are interested in implementing NVC in their classroom / school / system.This course also serves those who wish to learn more about training teachers.

With the focus on communicating with children of all ages, we invite you to explore how to use the power you have as an adult in ways to support children in their learning. This workshop introduces alternatives to the punishment/reward model of teaching, offering a way to work with children that supports teachers to decide when to speak and what to say.

During the course we explore how empathy contributes to learning through mutual respect and trust in relationships. There is space and guidance for your practice how

2 to react in challenging daily life conflicts implementing Nonviolent Communication (NVC) and contributing to children's growth through dialogue and cooperation. Our workshops are lively and varied, and include theory, presentations, time for personal reflection, group work, exercises and role plays using situations from daily life.

The aim of the course is for participants to:

 build communication skills which contribute to developing schools based on compassion and co-operation

 practice how to implement NVC in daily school life

 transmit NVC to students

Topics that will be shared:

 Intention and communication that support you to be a powerful authority as a teacher or parent without using threats, punishment or rewards;

 Being a role model by handling conflicts from mutual respect in a way that builds trust that everybody's needs matter;

 Connecting with your inner resources and clarity to be able to meet/receive children with openness and curiosity.

Themes to practice are:

 Building on honest expression: clearly communicate to influence inner motivation

 Empathic listening: to create trust and mutual understanding

 Dealing with anger and criticism

 Conflict management and mediation between students

 Transforming resistance into cooperation

 Exploring alternatives to punishment and rewards

 Giving feedback that contributes to learning and growth

The course ends with exploring what we've enjoyed and planning “next steps” including team-building, networking, support teams. The course will be held in English and translated into German.

Wednesday 9th October 18:00 - 20:00, Presentation NVC in Education - also open to the general public; admission CHF 40.- (seminar participants: free)

Thursday 10th October 9:30 - 18:00 Friday 11th October 9:30 - 18:00 Saturday 12th October 9:30 - 17:00 With ca 90 min lunch break

Trainers:

Marianne Göthlin, Sweden, is particularly interested in sharing her in-depth NVC

experience in education, with school staff and parents. Marianne is a teacher and has experience of running a school based on NVC values and other long-term education projects. www.skolande.se

Louise Romain, France, is known for her lively yet sensitive approach and focussing

on inner transformation in education, offering NVC public courses in Europe, Thailand and African countries (University of Peace in Africa) plus coaching and mediation for individuals and couples. www.peacefactory.fr

Pricing:

1) Tuition fee is floating between CHF 480.- and 580.- depending on your self evaluation, we trust that in this evaluation all needs will be heard. If paying this tuition fee seems difficult for you, please talk to us.

2) Seminar fee per person for duration of seminar: CHF 170.-- includes three luncheons and six coffee breaks

3) Accomodation per person in room with three beds: CHF 241.50 includes three nights, three breakfasts and three suppers

4) Accomodation per person in double room: CHF 241.50 includes three nights, three breakfasts and three suppers

5) Accommodation per person in single room: CHF 309.-- includes three nights, three breakfasts and three suppers

Cancellation terms:

1. If we (the organisers) cancel, you will receive a full refund.

2. If you cancel your booking before 9th September you will get your payment back minus an administrative fee of CHF 150.-

3. If you cancel your booking after 9th September 2013, your payment will only be refunded (minus the CHF 150.- administrative fee) if we can fill your place at the event with a participant from the waiting list. If we are unable to do so, then the money is forfeited. Until September 25th 50% of the seminar costs ( tuition fee + seminar-fee) are due and thereafter 100% of the seminar costs ( tuition fee + seminar-fee) are due

Getting to the venue:

By public transportation: Please note: There is no public transport that takes you directly to the Bienenberg.

A shuttle/pick up service can pick you up at the train station in Liestal. This service is included in the seminar fee on your arrival and departure date.

By car:

From Basel Highway A2/A3 or from Zürich Highway A3

 Exit „Liestal“ Nr. 8

 Follow main street (blue signalisation) towards Liestal for ca 3.5 km.

 at 2nd roundabout turn right and follow signs to Bienenberg (ca. 1.1 Km).

From Olten/Bern Highway A2

 Exit „Sissach“ Nr. 11, then drive on expressway to Liestal.

 Take exit „Liestal“ and follow signs towards Hospital (ca. 3 Km).

 Ca. 300 m after hospital that is on your right) go to roundabout and take third exit towards the left .
