with postsecondary institutions and to identify additional opportunities for their students to earn college credit while still in high school.

The Center of Excellence in Leadership of Learning (CELL) intends for the directory to be inclusive of many types of programs that offer the opportunity for high school students to earn college credit. Programs have been organized into six different categories:

Concurrent Enrollment:

College Instructor at High School

On Campus Enrollment in Classes with College Students

On Campus Enrollment in Classes Solely for High School Students

Distance Education

Early College High School

Project Lead the Way

Institutions reported that they have programs under development are identified as such, as well as those without formal programs but have customized arrangements with a few schools or are willing to discuss customized arrangements with individual schools.

This directory includes all programs that CELL has identified as of December 3, 2010. Please send all additions, corrections, updates, and advice to Todd Hurst at 317-791-5705, hurstt@uindy.edu, or by fax to 317-791-5925.

Glossary

College Instructor at High School: A postsecondary instructor teaches a college course solely to

high school students in the high school or career center classroom (typically during the regularly scheduled school day).

On Campus Enrollment in Classes with College Students: A high school student attends a

college course taught by a postsecondary instructor alongside traditional postsecondary students on a college campus (including satellite locations, such as evening classes in high school

buildings).

On Campus Enrollment in Classes Solely for High School Students: A postsecondary

institution offers a course on the college campus specifically for high school students, taught by a postsecondary instructor (including Summer Bridge and Upward Bound programs where postsecondary credit is offered).

Distance Education: A high school student participates in a distance education course for

postsecondary credit, including online, videoconference, and correspondence courses (including those taught by a postsecondary instructor or secondary instructor approved by the

postsecondary institution).

Early College High School: High schools paired with a postsecondary institution that target

students traditionally underrepresented in postsecondary education and allow them to

simultaneously earn a high school diploma and an Associate's degree or up to two years of credit toward a Bachelor's degree. Only the three Endorsed Indiana Early College High School model sites are included in this directory at this time.

Project Lead the Way: Project Lead the Way is a non-profit organization that offers rigorous high

school courses in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Some

postsecondary institutions have created dual credit programs that allow students to earn both college credit and high school credit through Project Lead the Way courses in a concurrent enrollment arrangement.
