Configure email synchronization Pocket PC/Smartphone ASPect

General information

This document let’s you configure your Pocket PC or Smartphone step-by-step so you can synchronize your ASPect email.

Before you start

Before you set up your Apple device for synchronization, you must have logged in once at the ASPect platform.

When you never made use of the ASPect platform, it is useful to read the document “First time login ASPect external location” or First time login ASPect at the office”. This document can be downloaded from http://www.aspect-ict.nl/Documentatie.

Your Pocket PC/Smartphone must also be configured so it can connect to GPRS, EDGE, UMTS of HSDPA. This information and settings can be obtained from the telecom provider from which you have your Pocket PC/Smartphone.

Pocket PC with Windows Mobile 5

Follow the steps below to configure your Pocket PC for synchronization: 1. Click on the button START.

2. Choose ‘Programs’:

4. Click on the button MENU and choose ‘Add server source’:

5. Type in the field ‘Server address’ exact the following address “webmail.aspectmail. nl” and check if the option ‘This server requires an encrypted (SSL)

6. In the field ‘User name’ fill in your (pre-Windows 2000) user name. Remember! This information is user dependent and must be asked at our Service desk. In the field ‘Password’ fill in your password. This password is the same password as you use to login to the ASPect environment. In the field ‘Domain’ fill in exact

“aspect.local” and check if the option ‘Save password’ is selected. Click on the button NEXT:

Below you will find the settings that we recommend. These settings can be changed to personal preferences:

8. Select ‘Calendar’ and click on ‘Settings’:

9. Set the option ‘Synchronize only the past’ to ‘2 weeks’ and click on the button OK:

11.Set the option ‘Include the previous’ to ‘1 week’ and the option ‘Limit e-mail size to’ to ‘0.5 kB’. Select the options ‘Include file attachments’ and ‘Only if smaller than’. Fill in the field ‘Only if smaller than’ the number “25”. Click on the button OK

12.Click on the button FINISH.

13.Your email will now be synchronized. Remember! The first time that you synchronize your email/calendar it can take some time to be completed. This depends on the number of email/calendar items:

15.Set the option ‘Peak times’ to ‘Every 30 minutes’ and the option ‘Off-peak times’ to ‘Every 60 minutes’. Check if the option ‘Send outgoing items immediately’ is

checked and click on the button OK:

The configuration is now completed.

Smartphone with Windows Mobile 5

Follow the steps below to configure your Smartphone for synchronization: 1. Click on the button START.

2. Start ‘ActiveSync’:

6. Select the components you want to synchronize:

11.Push the button FINISH.

12.Your email will now be synchronized. Remember! The first time that you synchronize your email/calendar it can take some time to be completed. This depends on the number of email/calendar items:

Follow the steps below to configure your Pocket PC for synchronization: 1. Click on the button .
