3. HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION

Emergency Overview: A white coloured fabric made of Spectra® high performance fibers. This product poses no immediate hazards for which first aid is required.

Effect of Acute Exposure:

Inhalation: Spectra® fiber is too big to inhale into the lungs.

Skin Contact: No significant health hazards identified. Continual hash rubbing may cause skin irritation.

Eye Contact: May cause mechanical irritation.

Ingestion: The index for the toxicity of the product in case of ingestion is unknown. Effect of Chronic Exposure: Unknown.

4. FIRST-AID MEASURES

Eye Contact: In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water. Seek medical attetnion.

Skin Contact: If fiber irritates the skin, wash with soap and water. Seek medical attention if irritation persists. Seek immediate medical attention.

Inhalation: Not a probable route. However in case of accidental ingestion, call a physician. Ingestion: Not a probable route. However in case of accidental ingestion, call a physician. Notes to Physician: Treat symptomatically.

5. FIREFIGHTING MEASURES

Flash Point: Unknown. Auto-ignition: Unknown. Explosion Limits: Unknown.

Hazardous Conditions: This product is combustible at extremely high temperatures. Extinguishing Media: Small Fire: Use DRY chemical powder.

Large Fire: Use water, dry chemical, carbon dioxide or foam.

Fire Fighting Instructions: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus. Keep personnel removed and upwind of fire. Wear full protective equipment (full bunker gear).

Hazardous Combustion Products: Under fire conditions, polymers decompose. Hazardous combustion products may include and are not limited to carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide.

7. HANDLING AND STORAGE

Handling: Use personal protective equipment, Do not break yarn with bare hands.

Storage Needs:All fabric must be stored in compliance with relevant regulations and in accordance with good handling and storage practice.

Protective Clothing: It is always good safety practice to wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and gloves.

8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION

Personal Protective Equipment

Gloves: When repeated forceful contact with fabric is anticipated, wear protective gloves and sleeves to minimize skin abrasion and drying. If repeated handling of fabric leads to dry skin, use non-greasy moisturizing skin cream. (Barrier creams are not recommended, as they may actually cause fiber dust to stick to the skin.)

Eye Protection:Wear safety glasses or coverall goggles when cutting or mechanically working this product, or where airborne dust and fly is present.

Respirators: Where airborne dust and fibril concentrations are expected to exceed applicable exposure limits, or where there is potential for irritation of the nasal passage by the mechanical action of fibers, NIOSH approved respirators should be used. Disposable dust mask equivalent to 3M model N95 8210 or equivalent may also be used.

Wash Requirements:Wash hands after use and before eating.

10. STABILITY AND REACTIVITY

Chemical Stability: Stable at normal temperatures and storage conditions. Incompatibility with other Materials: Avoid contact with strong oxidizing agents.

Hazardous Decomposition: Thermal decopsition expected to yield CO1 CO2 and various

oxidized and non-oxidized hydrocarbons. Hazardous Polymerization: Polymerization will not occur.

The fabric product is non-toxic. In the event that the product is to be used in special areas of application, e.g. food industry or the medical/surgical sector, please consult us beforehand.
