Team Mechsonic racing welcomes you to formula sae, a poignant

racing competition where exquisite engineering and citified technology

are used to build a race car to compete with top of the racing vehicles

manufactured. Students make racing cars from the dot to a complete

human marvel that we see on F1 race tracks.

What is Mechsonic Racing??

Mechsonic racing is student project from HMR Institute of Technology and Management, GGS IP University, which is imbibed together by students from different engineering streams to become respective experts in their stream in addition to handling their academics well. We work with immense hard work to build, design, fabricate and run exclusive FSAE cars which can be compared to the best.

It is a team of 20 undergraduates students from different engineering streams of HMR Institute of Technology and Management who have grouped together by their enthusiasm for

automobiles. It is well organised team with members holding project experience in Robotics, aero modelling, micro controllers, automobile designing and racing. We intend to design and fabricate a formula type race car for the “college design series”, organised by the “Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE)” worldwide.

Desire to shine and management of minute resources is the key motivation for this team. It is this motivation that we participated in “FSAE Italy 2011” and got recognition for design

techniques by the judges from the Italian auto industry. Our car was the “fastest build car entry” amongst the participating teams and was acknowledged as the “lightest formula type car entry from India” in our very first attempt.

Hard work, knowledge, and perseverance are the pre requisites for the team to be motivated at every level and compete to be the best. We sincerely exhibited this quality in our very first attempt in Formula SAE Italy 2011 by being acknowledged as the lightest car participating from India and got recognition for the design techniques by the judges from the Italian auto industry. The year 2012 come up with more challenges and we our bucked up to do all it takes to finish it to the top.

What is Formula Society of Automotive Engineers,

FSAE??

Formula SAE is a student design competition organized by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE, also known as SAE International). The competition was started back in 1978 and was originally called SAE Mini Indy.

Concept

The concept behind Formula SAE is that a fictional manufacturing company has contracted a student design team to develop a small Formula-stylerace car. The prototype race car is to be evaluated for its potential as a production item. The target marketing group for the race car is the non-professional weekend autocross racer. Each student team designs, builds and tests a

prototype based on a series of rules, whose purpose is both ensuring on-track safety (the cars are driven by the students themselves) and promoting clever problem solving.

The prototype race car is judged in a number of different events. The points schedule for most Formula SAE events is

Design Event 150 Cost & Manufacturing Analysis Event 100 Presentation Event 75 Acceleration Event 75 Skid pad Event 50 Autocross Event 150 Fuel Economy Event 100 Endurance Event 300 Total Points Possible 1,000

In addition to these events, various sponsors of the competition provide awards for superior design accomplishments. For example, best use of E-85 ethanol fuel, innovative use of

electronics, recyclability, crash worthiness, analytical approach to design, and overall dynamic performance are some of the awards available. At the beginning of the competition, the vehicle is checked for rule compliance during the Technical Inspection. Its braking ability, rollover stability and noise levels are checked before the vehicle is allowed to compete in the dynamic events (Skid pad, Autocross, Acceleration, and Endurance).

Formula SAE encompasses all aspects of a business including research, design, manufacturing, testing, developing, marketing, management, and fund raising. Formula SAE takes students out of the class room and puts them in the real world.

Big companies, such as General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler, have their staff interact with more than 1000 student engineers. Working in teams of anywhere between two and 30, these students have proven themselves to be capable of producing a functioning prototype vehicle. The
